From the first email exchange with Julia & Lahsen, we knew we were in good hands. Got recommended to experience the Atta Desert tour from the blog MarocMama and we are glad that we chose to experience it. The folks at Atta Desert Camp were extremely accommodating, professional and patient in making a customized tour of 2 Days 1 Night for us in our limited budget. We received our itinerary well in advance, so there were no surprises. They also received the advance from us at her riad in Marrkech. From our pick up in Ouarzazate to our final drop off in Marrakech, everything was very planned. The camp is located in the middle of some of the most majestic dunes we have seen. The tent was comfortable with a double bed and twin beds with a charging socket and a light. You can't expect more from a desert camp. There was even hot water for Shower. Breakfast was some of the best we had in Morocco with the nicest omelette and tea. The staff at the camp i.e Hafiz the cook and Hadi the camel guide, are some of the folks we have ever met. However, the entertainment at night could have been better as it seemed they were winging it. It was still very good. The best part was that our guide/driver Lahsen agreed to drop us off at Marrakech train station and book our tickets to fes. We absolutely loved every bit, including the stop overs at the Qur'anic libraries at Tamagroute and pottery making workshops, the acrylic dry lake with fossils. My only major concern was the our guide was constantly using his phone while driving, which given the mountainous drive made us a little nervy. Apart from that, everything was fantastic. It was completely worth it!

Thank you very much for the thoughtful review - it is good to get feedback such as yours - for us and for readers. It was a rush trip.. but we are pleased you got so much out of it. Phone use is noted - we have been and still are trying to resolve it!

What an experience!! This is my second desert camping experience in Morocco and I loved it. We stayed in the Luxury camp and were blown away by the accommodations. The rooms are luxury suites, they are concrete structures that have full bathrooms and showers with hot water! (in the middle of the Sahara!!) Our room was large enough for 1 king bed, 2 twins for my older children and a pack and play for the baby. There was also a sitting area in the room. The rooms were decorated with local Moroccan art and pottery.
Just getting to camp is an adventure as you will drive through the desert, over dunes and pass herds of camels. The camp is large and is at the base of a HUGE sand dune. I went with my husband and 3 kids (13, 4, 18 months). The camp had a large dinning room and central fire area for nightly entertainment. My family spent the days sand boarding, riding camels and seeing some of the most breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. My teenager got pretty good at sand boarding, my 4 year old delighted in watching a beetle crawl up the dunes and awaking to see a herd of camels running near our dune. The baby loved the freedom to walk anywhere she wanted and not be reined in. They all enjoyed sitting around the fire at night talking about all our adventures and listening to the camp attendants sing and play instruments. The chef at the camp made beautiful meals including tagines and hearty soups. We even got to watch bread being made in the sand for dinner!
We chose this camp because it is a Moroccan owned small business. I had met the owner years earlier while touring Morocco and I knew he would give my family an amazing experience just as he had shown me. I didn’t think he would be able to show me anything new, but he did. I would recommend this camp to everyone looking for an incredible adventure.

My family and I visited Atta Desert Camp in April 2022. We were based in Marrakech for our trip to Morocco and Lahsen, our guide from Atta Desert Camp, took us to and from the camp. The trip to and from the camp, in itself, is an amazing adventure. Having Lahsen with us opened doors to meeting the people and seeing some special places along the way through the Atlas mountains and down the historic Draa Valley and out into the desert. In addition to several of the Kasbahs in the valley we also saw how subsistence agriculture works there to this day, and got to see rare places of cultural importance like the Zawiya of Tamegroute.

The camp experience itself was a delight. The tents were comfortable for our family of four, with european style bedding and flush toilets (in a bathhouse). The staff on hand was beyond friendly and engaging. They played soccer with our son, made great conversation around the fire, and were always available and attentive. Our guide took us on an incredible trip to visit a nomad school and family in the area, which was an endearing and profoundly educational experience for us. The views, an overall ambience of the camp and the area is entirely unique and not to be missed. Oh... and the food was the best we had in our entire time in Morocco, including our time in Marrakech. The cook is incredible and they absolutely bombarded us with dish after dish of traditional Moroccan recipes.

Atta is so much more than just a camp, its a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just go... and ask for Lahsen as your guide!

We booked a private 10-day tour with Amazing Journeys Morocco, and the highlight of the trip for us was definitely our time at the Atta Desert Camp in the Sahara. Since returning home, we've been regaling friends of the inexplicable beauty of the sand dunes, and the utter peace we felt amidst the silence of the desert.

The camp had everything we could possibly need - delicious meals, comfortable beds, running water, and a solid wifi connection. We were lucky enough to have the camp to ourselves during our time there, and we were taken care of very well by our gracious host Hassan. On our first night in the camp, we were regaled with Berber music by the fire.

The camp has a dining tent where all the meals are served, and we had some of our best meals here! The shared bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. Sand does get everywhere in the desert - so pack accordingly!

All in all, we had a lovely time at the Atta Desert Camp and can't wait to come back again one day.

We were looking forward to our time in the Sahara, and our time at this camp far exceeded our expectations. Our deluxe "tent" floor was lined with a riot of carpets, and included an ensuite bathroom. We had a big sand dune right outside our door.
Breakfast and dinner was served in a large community tent, with tasty Moroccan fare. After dinner, staff gathered around an outdoor fire with drums and instruments to share desert music.

Perhaps the best part of our stay was our morning desert hike, followed by a delicious lunch, cooked fresh by Hamsa, and fresh bread baked on coals buried in the sand. Sheltered by large tamarisk trees, we enjoyed several salads made with beans and lentils and fresh vegetables, accompanied by skewers of well seasoned chicken pieces.

We enjoyed walking the dunes, as did both guests and staff, to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The light was amazing, and I couldn't stop taking photos of the sculpted sand.

We also enjoyed a sunset camel ride, which took us further out into the dunes for the sunset. The ride checked an item on my bucket list, but it wasn't the most comfortable excursion I've ever had. Riding a camel definitely takes some adjustment.

We especially appreciated the fact that ATTA is not a really large camp, so there are less people, and more careful attention by staff. Both Hamsa and Mohamed were great during our stay.

We spent two nights at ATTA Desert Camp as part of a multi-week tour of Morocco

We had an amazing and unforgettable trip to the desert with Amazing Journeys Morocco. We were really looking forward to the trip but it exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The desert was breathtaking and we were very glad we took the advice from the company to book the four day, three night tour to have time to enjoy the desert at different times of the day. The camp was very comfortable with some of the best food we had in Morocco and a very kind and friendly team to look after us. Highlights for the kids were sand boarding in the dunes, visiting the nomad school and playing a competitive football game with the local children and the camel ride. They also loved looking for fossils and seeing the traditional nomad bread being baked in the fire. Myself and my husband loved the beauty of the desert, visiting the different sites on the way, especially the village and pottery making at Tamegroute and the berber music and dancing on the trip, both listening and taking part. But for all of us, a real highlight of our trip was our wonderful guide Naim. He was always cheerful and patient and knowledgeable with our endless questions about Moroccan life, politics, culture, food, botany and the Berber and nomad way of life. He went out of his way to make every part of the trip enjoyable and managed to keep all of us including three teenagers interested, engaged and relaxed for the whole trip. His kindness and his advice on the practical aspects of the trip were invaluable and we really had the feeling of travelling with a trusted friend . Amazing journeys Morocco was a pleasure to deal with. All communication was very clear and prompt and they were very helpful and flexible in the change to our itinerary. Lahsen was very helpful and even provided a great play list for the journey. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough, it was an experience that we will never forget. Thank you Naim and the Amazing Journeys Morocco team

4 of us (two couples) stayed for 2 nights at ATTA Desert Camp as part of a tour that began in Marrakesh and ended in Fez. The desert is so quiet and wonderfully changeable. We found the camp to be very accommodating, with great food, and comfortable rustic tents. Each couple got their own tent, with real beds and warm blankets, as the days are hot but the nights get chilly. It is a short walk to the bathroom/shower house, which gives one an excuse for going outside and looking at the stars. The shower pressure was minimal, but hey, a shower in the desert?!!
The dunes are right outside the tent (in fact the tent is incorporated into the nearest dune) so it is easy to get up in the morning and climb up to the top to see the sun rise.
The wind was howling when we arrived, so we were glad we had heeded our guide's advice and bought turbans that can be wrapped to cover one's face.
We had the opportunity to visit a family of nomads for tea and to sit in the nomad school for a quick lesson on how to write our names in arabic - a high point.
We all wished we had spent more time there - perhaps 3 or 4 nights - as the rhythm of the desert really grew on us.

We had the most incredible experience at ATTA - such incredible hospitality from Mohammed as soon as we arrived and felt very welcome. We ate like kings and couldn’t believe how delicious and plentiful the food was in the desert- and we had hot water and flushing toilets! The dunes speak for themselves and nothing else compares with the peace amd softness and incredible light. Our wonderful driver and guide Housseyn led the Berber music around the campfire and was clearly the best guide from what we heard from others experiences! Our drive across the desert to get there and back was an absolute hoot- such an adventure, and Housseyn showed us fossils, nomads, wildlife and all sorts on the journey, really bringing it alive. His driving of the fantastic 4X4 Jeep was also very impressive. We can’t recommend more highly and wish we could’ve stayed longer. My teenage children said it’s the best trip they’ve ever been in and didn’t want to leave the desert.

We visited the desert camp as part of our 9 day journey around Morocco and spent 2 nights there with our kids of 6,8, and 11 years old. This was definitely a highlight of our trip! The desert is an incredible experience and the camp provided a very comfortable stay. The service and camp guides were exceptional in their service, campfire entertainment, and meals. They were very flexible in meeting our needs. The camp itself is well decorated with cozy tents, warm blankets, electricity, and even showers and hot water! The kids loved sand boarding and exploring the dunes, playing around with the musical instruments and of course the camel ride. The visit to the nomad house and school was also memorable, and of course driving in the dunes was exciting and fun! We highly recommend this desert experience!

If you are equivocating about getting all the way to the desert or which dunes to go to or who to stay with... stop and book here! It's the best experience. We were greeted by the most wonderful host who had camels ready followed by sand-boarding and sunsets and a perfect meal! Our children still compare every meal we eat to being not quite as good as Mohammad's in the desert. It is a magical camp with beautiful facilities and luxuriously appointed and friendlily hosted with berber food and music and traditions all the way. Come visit!

Hello Gigi, Yes, we could accommodate your more elderly group members but need to discuss the best way for them. Our guests arrive by 4x4 and only have a camel ride if they wish once they arrive. Also the time of year will play an important part. Will you please contact us directly for further assistance and details. We can be found with a Google search of our website address. We very much look forward to helping you all.

Morocco can be hot in July and the deserts very hot. If you visit then we work around the heat by aiming to travel in the cooler part of the day and as a private tour company can customize the tour to make if more comfortable. Our vehicles are air-conditioned and at the camp you can sleep under the stars! Our staff can move beds out of the tents for your comfort. We hope this helps.
