We stayed for half our time in the hotel and the other half in the desert camp - both of which I would highly recommend. The hotel is beautiful and extremely comfortable. Dinner at night was very fun with delicious food and a lively, cozy atmosphere in the dining room with all of the other guests (remember to BYOB!) It was not swimming weather when we were visiting but the pool is a great spot to relax, with gorgeous views of the dunes. The desert camp is also very comfortable (glamping much more than camping) has a similar dining room situation but in a tent rather than the main hotel compound. The dunes are just steps away from both, and we would highly recommend taking advantage of every opportunity to explore them including the camel rides, sunrise hikes, and your own daytime treks. Mustapha was a great host and very helpful in all of the planning leading up to the trip.

This auberge is a short drive from Merzouga itself, but is right on the dunes. It was a quieter part of the dunes, with less quad bikes and human traffic. We enjoyed strolling out for sunset straight onto the sand. The auberge itself has a beautiful pool and nice communal areas with a restaurant and a tented area/campfire for after dinner. We enjoyed the food. We stayed one night in a room in the old courtyard which was small and the shower did not drain properly, and then on our second stay we were placed in the newer courtyard. The room there was spacious, brighter and had a lovely outside area with table and chairs. I would advise asking for one of the newer rooms if possible. There were some large groups staying there during our stay. It meant the food on the buffet breakfast often disappeared quickly, but they kept bringing out more. I found the staff to be helpful and accommodating.

we stayed at the tented camp on the edge of the sand dunes. There was a bit of heating in the tent along with a shower and a decent loo. The evening meal was quite basic. however at 2.30 in the morning we were both very ill, the food was "cooked" in a side tent of the dining tent, and I would imagine the hygiene quite basic if at all. My wife is still quite ill, after 5 days, we should have shares in Imodium the amount we took. The camel trek was OK, but going down hill is unpleasant. At the end of the trek the camel boy put a rug on the ground covered in camel droppings (Berber marbles) and brought out a bag of fossils and expected us to buy some, foolishly we did and got ripped off. The overnight dropped below freezing. We should have brought our ski wear.

A nice restful place to break up our trip around Morocco. Lovely setting being right on the edge of the Dunes. We took a camel ride to see the sunrise. If you've never done this it worth doing although don't be surprised when you are not the only ones on the dunes! Nice rooms here both times we've stayed with helpful staff.

Wow! Seeing the sunset and then taken to a camp of beautiful tents, where I stayed at the royal tent. The room inside the tent is out of movies and it’s clean with electricity, some Wi-Fi and aircon. Dinner was great and the dinning tent elegant and also breakfast. I had a camel ride to the sunrise, which is worth the early wake up. Don’t miss the chance to stay inside the dunes of the Sahara desert
