Having flown overnight from Heathrow arriving in Mauritius in the early morning a taxi transferred us to the Coral Azur Beach and as you enter the hotel there is a wonderful vista over the resort grounds and the Indian Ocean. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink and then it was explained that our all inclusive package did not start until 2pm so if we wanted a drink from the bar or lunch in the restaurant then we would be charged for it. We found this to be terribly mean spirited and set the wrong tone straight away. They added, that on our last day, we could have lunch but the bar would be free only until 2pm!! From our observations the only British guests had arrived on a package from Blue Bay Travel so English speaking guests were in a small minority. Everyone else was French speaking so most events and entertainment were strongly French orientated. The French guests did not appear to have an all inclusive package so the few Brits more or less had the bar to ourselves and I never had to wait to be served at the bar. On the topic of the bar we would highlight Anisha, Aisha, Vishley and Waren who were very friendly and always greeted you with a smile. The wine was served from a winebag and there was no Prosecco included on the all inc. The bar closed at 10pm at night so guests needed to ensure that they had their alcohol requirements in before the 10pm deadline. Several cocktails were included in the all inc but not the Pina Colada which is one of my favourites. The restaurant served a buffet breakfast which had a good range of food and omelettes cooked to order. Lunch was sometimes waiter service and sometimes the buffet We must mention Jocelyn who was an absolute delight serving our lunch (he also has a brilliant singing voice!) ably assisted by Ally and Amara. The evening meal buffet starts at 7.30pm so there did tend to be a bit of a scrum as it opened. Again there was a good range of different foods to choose from. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the sea and found it to be excellent with a comfortable bed and it was cleaned daily. The beach in front of the hotel is pitiful with rocks from the wall into the sea and the sea was very rocky so you definitely need a pair of water shoes if you plan to go in the sea. Interestingly the hotel next door had developed their beach with sand and sun beds which looked very nice. On the other hand the Mont Choisy beach is only a short stroll down the road and you come across miles of golden sand. I can only report on the 10 days that we were at the resort but it was interesting that the French contingent would eat breakfast early and head away for the day. They returned late afternoon ready for the 7.30pm food scrum! This meant that we more or less had the resort to ourselves during the day, there was a huge choice of sun beds (most were unoccupied!) and the pool was very quiet until late in the afternoon. Our package from Blue Bay included a 15 minute massage at the Spa which was very refreshing. It also included a trip out in the glass bottom boat which was fun but the coral near the hotel is all dead and hence there was a distinct shortage of fish to be seen! In summary we really enjoyed our 10 day stay at the Coral Azur. It is a small compact resort and the British contingent got to know each other and enjoyed the camaraderie. Coral Azur was very competitively priced and excellent value for the money. It could be described as "Shabby Chic" so if you are looking for more luxurious surroundings then you would need to spend a lot more money and choose elsewhere!

The view as you arrive at the hotel is spectacular. It has a laid-back feel. It's a simple hotel, just the one restaurant and one bar. The downside on arrival is to be told that AI guests can only have dinner on the day of arrival, and if we wanted lunch, we would have to pay extra. Also, we could not get a drink until 2 pm, not even water. After an 11 hour flight plus travelling from the airport, this was not the best way to start our holiday. Blue Bay travel did not tell us this at the time of booking. We were offered a choice of room. The older room with a sea view, or a refurbished room on the road. We opted for the sea view, which was a little dated and could do with being refurbished, but it was clean, and the view was lovely to wake up to. Our room boy Neermal was a delight in keeping our room clean and fresh with the added bonus of making animals out of towels and pretty flowers on our bed. I thought the food was very good with different theme nights. A nice al a carte menu was offered at lunchtime. The bar team was brilliant. there were too many to mention, but thanks to Phil, Waren, Anisha, Aisha to name just a few. They made our stay special. The entertainment was good. I did find it odd that the entertainment finished at 11pm every night, but the bar for AI shut at 10pm. Every single staff member was so friendly and made our holiday. Big thanks to Jocelyn , restaurant manager, for just being so lovely and friendly, such a lovely man, and has a great singing voice. My only complaint was the area at the front where the sunloungers overlooked the ocean. Some of the loungers were broken. They did not match the loungers around the pool area. The area needed a good clean. There were hair bands, bottle tops, and cigarette ends in the stones. I did tell the guest relations manager, but nothing was done about it while I was there. The hotel is in a good location for getting local buses. Bear in mind this hotel is not on the beach. Mount Choicy Beach can be accessed either by turning right or left out of the hotel. You can get into the ocean via steps from the hotel, but there are many rocks in the sea, so you need to be very careful. If you want a laid-back, not too posh hotel, then Coral Azur is a good choice. I enjoyed it very much. The sun sets are spectacular too.

Everything went incredibly well. We received a heartwarming welcome from Jennifer Lopez who assisted us during our whole stay, making sure that our holiday was going smoothly. The staff are very nice and helpful, and the activities are worth it. The overall experience was excellent and we loved it. I definitely recommend the barbecue that was absolutely scrumptious.

We visited Mauritius for the first time over Easter, with our two kids of 2 and 3 years old. Everything at Coral Azur has been wonderful and easy! We reserved via WhatsApp: Shilpa has always replied quickly and professionally, explaining options and giving advices to make our reservation and better prepare our trip! She was lovely when we met her in person as well, like the rest of the staff who is one of the key strengths of this place. Jennifer Lopez, Sunil, Vincent and everyone was kind and helpful, professional and friendly, able to speak many languages and to give us top recommendations… with a smile on their face they all made our holiday fun, relaxing and unforgettable! The hotel is a bit old, but we did not mind as it is very charming and full of positive vibes. It is located by the sea, has a lovely and well kept garden, a pool and a small beach but we usually went to Mont Choisy, a magnificent beach 5 min walking distance to the hotel. There are many cab drivers that can take you around the island and a bus stop in front of the hotel with buses passing every 5-10 min during the day to go easily to Grand Baie, Port Luis or other places. We booked a standard room, which was perfect in size and perfectly cleaned every day. Breakfast was great, with chefs preparing delicious pancakes among other things. Dinner was also always tasty, offering a good variety of food and different types of cuisines that our kids loved to explore! The hotel organises complementary activities like a lovely tour on the glass boat and has entertainment during the day, including a kids club, but we never joined the daily activities as we always left after breakfast and came back before dinner. Finally, not only the staff was amazing but also the owner of the hotel, Maxime. Thanks to his generosity, we saw many beautiful places of the island and discovered its warm and welcoming culture. We will always treasure the special memories and we will think about our Mauritian adventures looking forward to be back soon!

The booking and payments processed professionally. Manager and entire hotel team approachable - all requests and needs accommodated before arrival. Assisted with airport taxi and local travel. Enjoyed the themed dinners, entertainment, room cleanliness and beautiful gardens. Welcome drinks on arrival at night and even been checked if we required dinner at the time. Great value for money, great location, sunsets and white sandy beaches a few meters from the resort. I will be back. The Manager Ms Shilpa provided a great service.

Despite reading all the reviews I can honestly say that this was a great holiday. Yes the hotel needs some TLC but the heart of this hotel beats because of its staff. Everyone went above and beyond; Jennifer Lopez with her smile and way to fix things, Philip and his team behind the bar who were attentive, Jocelyn for whom nothing was too much trouble and Anielle who made sure we were taken care of until the bus picked us up in the early hours. This hotel has a wonderful view of the ocean and it made me smile. There are regular buses outside to some of the local towns and very cheap too. There are a few bits of advice I would give. 1) get a few toasters (one for up to 100 people is insufficient). 2) the animation team are good but need to do more to drum up support from the guests AND do not let some of the guests hog the karaoke and 3) do remember that some guests don’t like curries so try and make something bland for those who don’t (my poor husband sometimes went without a main meal because there was nothing he liked). Despite that we enjoyed our break away

A hotel in Mauritius without the beach for the gests is not good experience. When it's too hot, its not convenient to go around to search for them. Didn't imagine my being here like this. All the rest is quite ok.

We stayed at the Coral Azur Beach, the hotel is 3 star. We were a group of 6 adults and didn’t expect much when we booked. The hotel itself does need decorating and needs updating through out, however the hotel was fairly clean. The rooms were cleaned everyday and house cleaners were all polite and did a good job. We had an all inclusive package so we had all day food and drinks, some people in our group were vegetarians so they could not eat from the regular buffet provided as there was more catered for non vegetarians. We spoke to Selvin (head chef) and he catered for us every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Selvin & his staff prepared delicious food separately and bought it directly to our table - could not have asked for a better service. ( if you have dietary requirements you should speak to the head chef and they will cater for you.) The reception staff, the restaurant staff, the bar staff & entertainment staff were all brilliant , polite and fulfilled our every concern. Jennifer (Jay Lo) the hotel customer relations manager was a delight and she went out her way make sure we were happy bring humour to our holiday. Overall we had a pleasant stay at the hotel, the hotel just needs updating with decor ( please get rid of the brown throws on the bed)
