Just came back from a beautiful relaxing stay at The Taaras resort. I can't hide that before getting there we were a bit nervous regarding the bad reviews written here but everything turned out to be great and not too annoying. As this is part of Asia, people are definitely more relaxed and laid back that western cultures, but I... More

Stunning beach, white powder sand and so clean. The hotel, as per all other reviews recently, is very badly run. Food not great quality, all food+drink is really expensive (RM30 per beer, buffet dinner which isn't great quality is RM130 pp) and the service is really really slow. We could hear people upstairs and next door in our room which... More

The hotel and the room was lovely, of course. Some of the workers were also very friendly and attentive (the buggy man especially). However, I was a little disappointed with the dining services. When we came down for breakfast at 7.30 for instance, the utensils were not there so we had to look for the employees and wait for them... More

This resort is lovely. The beach is incredibly picturesque and clean, with white sands and turquoise blue waters. The room was great and the bed was really comfortable!! This hotel is quite big and has pretty much everything under the sun which is useful, however we felt that this made it loose a bit of its authenticity and made it... More

I stayed four nights at Taaras thinking it was a five star resort the way it was marketed on its own website. The room that I booked Cliff Bayview was $1100 per night. Two way transfer was $340 per person. I paid $800 a night for Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, which was perfect. Currency was in ringgit. The good things:... More

Feel sorry to say but except beautiful white sand beach, blue water and tropical surroundings, everything else it's not worth to comment, starting from unfriendly and unprofessional staff, horrible service, food buffet with food leftovers from previous nights, flies and ants everywhere. No internet in the room , problem with electricity, plugs...A la cart menu very limited.. For the expensive... More

The resort offers a beautiful beach. The water is clear with white sand. Nevertheless it badly needs some restoration work. -We stayed here for 3 nights at the Garden Suite. The room was spacious however the room's aircon was leaking while the living room's aircon wasn't cold. We had to be transferred to another room which was a hassle to... More

Hello all, except the owner/management who clearly take no notice of any reviews or productive criticism, I recently stayed for only 2 nights with a friend and that was long enough. The service is horrific, it took us over an hour just to check in!? Once checked in we decided to hit the bar after a 6 hour journey from... More

The Taara's is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. It's in a bay with jungle backdrop and white sand beach. You can snorkel from the beach to the reef off the hotel's pontoon and also to see turtles near the neighbouring beach. The buffet is expensive by Malaysian standards at £25 per head. We ate at local restaurants just... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
‘The Taaras’ is a bespoke Private Beach Residence, tucked away and hidden from the outside world on a small Island found just off the unspoilt East Coast of tropical Malaysia. Considered to be one of the most beautiful Island locations in the South China Sea, the Isle of Redang is home to our natural, yet stylish resort found on one of the most spectacular bays surrounded by one of the bluest oceans on earth. The resorts ethos is to provide a contemporary, barefoot luxury experience with warm Asian hospitality, remembered with a smile long into the future. The name of the property is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘TAARA’, meaning ‘Star or Apple of my eye’ as well as ‘Goddess of the Sea’ which are all represented and epitomised by our mermaid figurehead. The resort is managed by The Taaras Luxury Group, and was formerly known as Berjaya Redang Resort managed by Berjaya Hotels and Resorts. With the stylish suites and rooms, as well as a stunning five bedroom Private Villa perched high up on the cliff overlooking the ocean and resort below. The resort boasts commissioned furniture and bespoke photography of Redang Island and the landscapes of Malaysia. Each suite or room contains oversized beds and hand-picked linens and fabrics for your comfort. Most rooms and all suites have larger washrooms containing both bath tub and separate rain or monsoon shower (some with spa bathtubs looking out over the rainforest or the bay). Most residences have an outdoor balcony or verandah and our suites at the top of the cliff summit have spectacular views over the beach and ocean below. For clients who prefer or require further privacy ‘The Cliff Private Villa Bay & Sea View’, our private five bedroom residence perched high up on the cliff more than meets the requirements; private access, a Villa Host at your ‘beck and call’ as well as twenty four hour security; should it be a necessary requirement. The residence also enjoys a sixteen meter Infinity swimming pool, personal fitness room and both interior and exterior lounge. ... more   less
