Smelly corridors. Room ok, we stayed in a triple room, but had to ask for a top sheet which were clean but stained. Room had air con but no control so set at temp and either on or off. Some toilets the flush doesn't work. Not all showers fitted. No toilet roll/paper. Not the cleanest place I've stayed in, however... More

Location is great, easy walk to the bus station and restaurants and seafront. Directly opposite the port market which is incredible as all the shipments arrive and it is always buzzing - opens at 3am though so can be noisy! My room was at the front of the hostel and I was never disturbed by it though. The hostel has... More

Allright, so i booked this hostel based on All the reviews on tripadvisor which seemed pretty good. And it was all good, until we got to our twin bed Room.. First thing we noticed was that the cleaning Lady only changed the beds, there was hair all over the floor and while we heard nothing about sharing the room, a... More

With this hostel we had Some bad experience. First we came in the day we booked the room on booking.com. And they ended up giving our room away to walk-ins. They did offer us a room with A-C for the same price but still. Then we came into the room. IT was dirty boring looking room. The beds had insects... More

I left my reference months ago, but i dont know why it doesnt appear, so here i go again. Our stay could not have been better! We arrive when the owner Nabistul was there and she welcomed us with fried bananas and tea! We took some tours, the one that we love the most was the firefly mangrooves! You get... More

Opposite to the Central Market, a 4-story property next to huge shopping mall and sea-front. A rather large reception and common room. On the top floor, there is a Cafe-style dinner room with a a spacious kitchen. Homemade pancake and tea/coffee are service for free. The room is average size and clean. I paid for a 16-dorm bed but I... More

I stayed at this family run hostel and for me, the backpacker, was absolutely fine to stay there. The women she runs the hostel was helpful and hospitable. The dorm fun rooms was clean, the bed quit comfortable but without any blanket (no problem as I used my sarong).Toilets bathroom clean. Good value for money I paid. The price includes... More

This hostel could have been a bright point of light in the ill-scented and unfriendly city that is Sandakan; instead, we were faced with staff members who seemed puzzled by everything we asked them and who so persistently gave us indecipherable answers to simple questions that we just gave up. Attempting even basic communication after eleven in the evening is... More

During my stay in Sabah, I spent the most time in Sandakan. This is due to the nice, warm-hearted, helpfull owner of the hostel. There won't be a second hostel-mum which is so hospitable and so touching character as hers. She always was keen to help, keen to consult about trips and open-minded for new ideas, thinkings and behavious. Simply... More

We had a fantastic stay at Sea View last month! Simple and comfortable rooms, yummy breakfast, and a great place to meet travelers from all over the world. Prior to arriving we had sorted our accommodation and a variety of tours with Nabistul via email - and all worked out perfectly! We loved the Kinabatangan river cruise (it's definitely worth...
