We arrived on 25th June 2020 at 2:20 pm. It was the Hotel’s 1st day of opening since the Movement Control Order on 18 March 2020. The security guards were fully equipped with the hand thermometers. We were told to queue accordingly with a gap of 1 metre apart. There were only 3 counters opened & the line was very long. We waited for 30 minutes only to be told that our room was not ready. We waited for another 20 minutes before getting a call from the reception, advising us to go straight to the right most counter to obtain our room key. The wait was worth it as we were upgraded to a bigger room with 2 king-sized beds. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were hard. We slept without them as they had hurt our necks. However, the furniture looked worn out & dated. Our room was equipped with both air-conditioner & fan. We were quite happy as both devices kept the room cold. WiFi was supposed to be complimentary. However, we could not get connected at all. The TV was equipped with many channels & we had managed to watch one of our favourites, American Ninja while vacationing. That was a plus point. A prayer mat was included in the room which delighted us but we weren’t sure whether it had been cleaned during the Covid-19 outbreak. Hence, we decided not to use it & had used our own. We couldn’t find any bedroom slippers & this didn’t sit well with us as although the floors looked clean, they were actually dusty. We loved the small area of glass panel on the floor as we could see the rocks underneath the water chalet during low tide & water gushing in during high tide. But the glass panel needs a good wash for better visibility. The kitchenette was located between the toilet & the bedroom. Unfortunately, there was no microwave, only an electric kettle, trash can, tea & coffee sachets, mugs & a stool. We had some trouble with the shower head. It would not stay still & moved when in use. The toiletries smelled lovely & I was taken by the large beautiful mirror on the bathroom’s wall. The working closet was kept apart from the shower area. Pool towels were conveniently provided for our use. I loved the wooden shutters surrounding the pool area. But they looked worn out too. There was a rather long wall decoration overlooking the pool & some parts looked dirty with black spots on the crevices & joints. Some oxidization could be seen on the hinges too. The filter plate in the pool was old & badly needs a change. Worst of all, a signage had dropped into our pool. The sprout from the frog crop near the pool shower was turned off. Hence, we couldn’t see water coming out from the sprout which was sad. The Hotel should really step up on their maintenance work. The pool had a depth of 1.2 metres. We had swum at night & in the morning. It was quite an exhilarating feeling swimming in our own pool at any time of the day. Our body acclimatised to the water temperature quite fast, much to our surprise. We decided to explore the Hotel grounds. The Hotel pool was closed & it didn’t look good at all. The gym was locked & hotel guests were told to get the key from the staff if they want to use the gym. Furthermore, only 5 people are allowed in the gym at any one time. We saw the playground & it cheered us up. I think it was the only place that was well maintained. There were a few children enjoying rides at the playground. We also walked to the many “look-out point” stations. The view was fantastic. We felt relaxed & basked in the moment til dusk before walking back to our room. The Hotel buggies were painted red & we found the bell boys or concierge to be most helpful & chatty. We would probably come back if only to enjoy the private pool in the room. Other than that, there is not much to draw us back.

After a very efficient check in process we went to our Premium Pool Room. It was very different to the photos - much older and worn - sliding doors to pool not working properly, ancient TV With no children’s channels and poor fittings. Besides the Bar, main swimming pool and pool cafe being closed by restrictions (accepted) we at least hoped for a decent meal in the evening but the food in the restaurant was very disappointing. This is a hotel that is well past its sell by date and in need of an upgrade - and yet at RM900 a night is not cheap and not worth its star rating. Very disappointing!

My family and i were here for 3D2N during Raya Haji. Kudos to the management in enabling to control the crowd and expedited the check-in process. I took executive pool room which it is away from the crowd. Room a bit old but the cleanliness was superb. Not many choices for breakfast but it was nice of the hotel to allow my family to pack the breakfast for me. Services were extremely good. Had lunch at the coffee house and the food were excellent. The hotel really strict with SOP. The staff are all well trained. They were helpful to my parents. I enjoyed the cycling around water chalet. I did recommended the place to my colleagues and friends for a short vacation. Prices are quite high but still cheaper than pre Covid-19. Location is perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway (you dont need to go through the jam at the city to get there). Easy to get grab too. I will come here again if the price maintains the same for a short getaway from city life.

Hotel separated online booking and call in booking check in at different rooms and only allow one person from each family to do the room check in. Suggest hotel to arrange a waiting area and provide welcome drink (eg: lemon water) for the waiting family members as it will leave unpleasant impression to the other guests who just arrive the hotel seeing a lots of people sit on the ground and some even queue under the sun. For breakfast serving, perhaps to arrange the staff/chef to serve the meal/dish onto the plate based on the selection of guests. Pre-serve all the dish/meal on the plate could cause food wastage when it is not fully consumed. Cleanliness of the room is ok. Anyway thank you for the effort in following the SOP to ensure all the guests are safe.
