First of all the hotel services including staff are so nice, polite and friendly. This is the best place for us (family) to relaxing and healing. Every year we were stayed here with family and the private beach was so nice. Hotel Buffet also was so reasonable and good. In this year 2024 the lobby scenario looks difference and more beautiful since we came in CNY festival. My suggestion is want more outdoor games such as archery, equestrian and etc .. Any way thanks to the bellman is Mr.Sabri who assist us every years very helpfull. and very good.

Once our go to place, now on list to avoid - Dirty bathroom - Stained curtains - Sandy beds - Warm air conditioning - Non-functional balcony lights - 4pm check-ins - Pool closes 3 hours later at 7pm - 11am check-outs And the list just goes on. To top it off, send a reminder note under each door of late checkout being charged. Average room price RM350-550 for all the above, ridiculous!

Stayed on 7 to 9 Jan 2024 with my family. Thank you to Azree who handled our check in. Professional all the way. We arrived early and was aware that the room would not be ready yet. Azree mentioned the earliest was at 3pm, managing our expectations. We went out to get some snacks and lunch, and at 3pm Azree called to update us on the room status. There was a problem with one of the room and we were fine with the rooms not being ready by 3pm because we were in no rush to get back to the hotel. At 3.15pm got another call to inform 1 room was ready. WOW on the managing expectations. We arrived at 3.45pm, expecting 1 room to be ready first, but Azree mentioned both of the rooms were ready for check in. He made the start of our holiday perfect by managing our expectations and I didn't have to follow up, not even once because he was sharing the update with me. He even advised us that there are some restaurants that will charge an exorbitant price for outsiders, and if we want suggestions on restaurants that doesn't charge "outsider" price, to ask him or his team. That made me feel so safe and comfortable. The entire stay was perfect because of that perfect start. Thank you so much for the experience! PS : Safe box and closet light in 316 was not functioning but we didn't mind it because we didn't want to bother anyone.

Thistle resort and thier lobby as usual is one of the best in Port dickson and now the steps bar is operational however still limited choices of drinks. Price for drinks are like a 7 star. Usually 2 to 3x rates are ok for resort however 5x 6x rates are unheard of , was a shocker when i got the drinks bill. Surprised as rooms are still not upgraded, its been years this resort needed room upgrade. Tired old dated rooms , rooms are also dirty, hygiene is big issue. The Lifts have unplesant bad odour, room corners have some old food odours. Cant say anything about the food as we never ordered anything in the resort, last stay my expereince with food was not good. Thistle has a great areas for recreation however not operational or monetized. Great guest experience when you are in the lobby and near beach areas but kills all the fun as you enter the lifts and dated tired rooms and facilities. Hoping things will change for better

Our Holiday @ Thistle Port Dickson We (my family of 6 across 3 generations) have just returned home after 2 weeks in Malaysia. It was with much anxiety we even made it on the trip as a member of our team is still recovering from near fatal cancer, a toddler aged 2. But we got there, as invitees to a best friends Indian wedding, this was a milestone, “make memories” event for us all. We chose “The Thistle” as our wind down destination after shopping in KL and the wedding in Ipoh. A restful and relaxing 5 days. We chose “The Thistle” based on its pools, swim up bar, pets & activities, dining variations, beach and proximity to KLIA for our departure. And 5 Star Rating. Our greeting upon arrival was lovely and welcoming and we had our rooms upgraded, which we are thankful for, but it created a false expectation for what was to come. Real impression Rooms were old and tired but we can live with that, the plumbing was almost 3rd world. The toilet bowl filled to almost “overflow” level and required numerous “flushing” to complete its role. We often used the bidet to assist. The shower hot water tap had a cold water “blue” nut and was cold upon first use. The other tap had no colour knob and came off, for which we repaired by tightening back on. This is a non compliant event against international standards and very dangerous. Plumbing issues were not limited to just one room. The main swimming pool was great, albeit the “adults” infinity pool was closed. Whenever we went to use the “swim up” bar, the barman was either not present or went running as he saw our advance. He just didn’t want to serve us! On the first occasion that we cornered him he stated that he could make a cocktail but not the equivalent mocktail even though the only change was not to use the alcohol from the cocktail. ?? Another example, “we can only make 2 cocktails, a black or white Russian”… and then even asked us to order (wet from the pool) in the restaurant and he would deliver from the bar!! Work that out. Speaking of restaurant options – we had 3, Fresh, Chinese and Italian. This was a big influence in our decision to go “Thistle”. Chinese and Italian were closed and according to the Food and Beverage Manager, were only used for overflow from “Fresh” - so we were stuck with Fresh or In Room service. Dining at “Fresh” even for breakfast was “hit and miss”, not consistent in availability or replenishment and inconsistent in quality of actual cook. At one meal, our serves were delivered over 30 minutes, we were about to leave when the final meal was confirmed to be still 15 minutes away. Basic Roti and Waffles were undercooked most days with a raw or eggy taste. We cancelled an “in room” order because it just took so long (over an hour) and we had other commitments. When we cancelled, we were advised the kitchen was busy and they would process soon. This would have made it over an hour after first placing the order. Activities • Pet / Rabbit enclosure was just a non event. • As mentioned, the Adults Infinity Pool at the beach was closed. • ATV – I saw 7 people riding the ATV’s over 4.5 days we were there and 4 of them were staff (red shirts). When we asked for rental we were told they were under maintenance, it was very visible that day that no one was working on the vehicles while staff were just talking. • Whilst we enjoyed the pool, it closed at 7pm, in the heat of the evening. Two other motels we stayed at while on this trip in Malaysia had their pools open to 10pm. • It was also hard to play a real game of checkers with pieces missing, another sign of lack of maintenance / care. • Television in our room was unviewable, unlike another room we witnessed. • SPA treatment appointments were difficult to do. We had two children to be supervised and wanted 4 x one hour appointments to look after the children. Were told we could not make these bookings. However, 2 x double one hour appointments were approved. On another occasion, staff were found talking and would not take a booking late in the day, even when advertised to be open to 7pm. We were told to come back the next morning. Our Summary Thistle Port Dickson is old and falling apart. The COVID 19 pandemic is now 2 years ago but Thistle is stuck somewhere in the past. Other resorts and hotel chains have moved on. Some staff are untrained in the roles they play, others just lied. We caught out staff with many lies during our stay. The experience we had fell far short of what we had seen via advertisements, website and “you tube” bloggers. When we escalated our concerns, no staff, took ownership of issues and could do nothing about it. We felt they were stranded, even when cared. We are going to send a copy of this report to people of interest at Thistle, owners of Thistle and our Travel Agent. Even though our TA didn’t suggest Thistle to us, we want to ensure that they are aware of the environment and lack of service that exists here.

We spent 2 nights recently. Overall it was a good stay. The furniture were bit old. Bathroom sinks need better cleaning. To improve: Grab rider can only deliver up to the main gate. Fair enough if the hotel wants to secure F&B sales. But no room service and by the pool side service until 11:30 am. Im a bit puzzled by this ruling. Come on Thistle, you can do better than this!!!
