The lodge was beautiful, The dining room and room overlooked a watering hole that had zebras, antelopes, and buffalo always in view. The service was Impeccable and the staff was always courteous. They had a fairly nice pool that was great for cooling off after safari. My only reservation was the food. All meals were served buffet style with little variation. It worked well at breakfast, but dinner was boring and limited. In its favor they did serve a nice box lunch, which is the best way to eat while on safari. If the lodge upgraded their food I would have given it five stars.

Our 5th stay here. If anyone said I could be teleported to anywhere in the world this would be the place I would choose. One of the great qualities is the view, whether from your room, the restaurant, lower viewing area (almost the same as the restaurant). If you are lucky on the left hand side you can get views of Kilimanjaro. A waterhole is in front with plenty of activity, parties of elephants, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, eland, waterbuck, ostrich etc, particularly at night during dinner jackal (by day sometime, see photo) and hyena pass by. The view is forever changing. We have all types of rooms here. It appears many tours come here for just one night so have smaller rooms but these have all you need and most have views of the waterhole. This time we have a suite with large bedroom, bathroom and "lounge" as well as balcony. However views from other rooms will be equally as good. The viewing area and restaurant are covered but open (without glass) so you can enjoy the view and waterhole. Breakfast rather is a buffet and has a good choice. Lunch is on the same basis. Dinner is slightly different in that your had a choice of soup severed to you, and then the buffet. Food was good and the choice should suite anyone. Staff were friendly, talkative and apricating of you being there. There is a small pool in the grounds behind the hotel and plenty of bird life as well. Hope to go back next year.

Mediocre at best, using the Serena name as a scam this hotel was nothing short of disgusting. The nightmare begun on our first night, when a scorpion fell through the unfinished roof, frantically we called the reception, all for them to do absolutely nothing. The following nights are as nothing short of chaos with our room being infested and them (staff at kilagiuni lodge) not doing a single thing . My advice as a seasonal traveler is to take your hard earned money somewhere else, this place is a mess

Best hotel in Tsavo West in terms of location and view. Rooms and food options are also good and service is excellent. Wish the wildlife was a little better so that they have more visitors. The staff is on another level and they should get praise for this.

We visited this hotel as part of a Titan Tour. As we reached the hotel and walked through reception we were amazed by the fabulous view from the dining area looking over a watering hole constantly visited by animals. A small hornbill perched by our table as we tucked into a substantial buffet lunch. Our room faced a nice lawn and backed onto a roost for Maribou Storks. We saw elephants and fringe-eared oryxes on our way to the hotel and visited the Shetani Lava Flow nearby and the fascinating Mzima Springs where we saw crocodiles and hippos and Grant's Monkeys. As we ate dinner an enormous elephant matriarch left the watering hole and came silently right up to the dining area, causing a tactical retreat from the nearest tables. She watched us and we watched her and it was a wonderful experience that even caused the staff to come and see her. Our room was comfortable and two minutes walk from the reception. The staff were efficient and friendly and we very much enjoyed our short stay.

This is quite simply the best place I have ever been in my life. It is a simple but elegent lodge, the views are quite breathtaking, there is no need to goout on game drives as you see africa from your dining table. Exquisite.

This was my sixth time to east Africa and I’ve stayed at several different Serena properties in Kenya and Tanzania. This property was disappointing and is not up to Serena’s normally high standards. The rooms are small, cramped and oddly configured. The bedding and linens felt more like a prison cot. I was shocked at how worn and dated everything was inside the rooms. Serena really needs to spend some money refurbishing the interiors because this was not up to snuff or up to Serena’s usually high standards. Likewise, the bathroom is tiny. Water pressure inside the shower was terrible and was like trying to shower in a water fountain. For whatever reason it was impossible to regulate the water temperature – without changing anything it would vary from scalding hot to cold. The common areas were better. The restaurant and bar overlook a watering hole and throughout the day and night animals will come to drink. The staff were nice and kind as they are at all Serena properties. The restaurant is buffet style and the food was OK. Certainly nothing special and not as good as any other Serena property but it was acceptable. We did two bush breakfasts and those too, were acceptable but nothing special. Overall, not somewhere I would recommend and not a place I plan to return to. Serena should do better.

I added the Tsavo visit after a 2-week safari elsewhere and was beyond glad I did. From check-in to check-out this 2-day stay was terrific. Dorothy greeted me with a drink and friendly, professional check-in. Faith, Geoffrey, Dorthy and Ibrahim helped me resolve what I thought was a serious problem with my luggage (totally my fault) the same day. Lillian and Fabian were superb restaurant staff, where the food offerings were varied, plentiful and delicious, as well as offering a stupendous view of many animals at the watering hole, as well as Kilimanjaro. Tsavo NP seems less visited than other parks I visited in Kenya altho I was told visitors were less as a result of Covid. Again, lodge staff was great. Go to Kenya, visit Tsavo, stay at Kilaguni Lodge!
