From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the ambience was exhilarating. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and in turn proceeded to our rooms. The meals were very well prepared and Joshua, our waiter was very friendly, he would explain in detail what was on the menu. The scenery was the highlight as my friends and I took great pictures of the place. We had so much we didn't want to leave. We look forward to coming back soon.
Truly a holiday, never to forget. 2 nights enroute to mara, the Cliff gave us an experience of a lifetime. Few properties bring luxury with personal attention as the Cliff does. Big thanks to all the crew and the larger Cliff Family. NB: it does get quite cold in the nights..so carry your light thermals for a pleasant stay...hot water bags do most of the work though..!
Beautiful hotel with stunning sunrise views. The only reason I gave the hotel a 4 star review, was despite mentioning prior to visit , at the visit and several times, they kept getting the vegan option wrong. We kept being offered food with 'biomilk', yoghurt etc etc. Our room was incredible and I will not forget watching the sunrise every day with a fantastic coffee in hand. It was one of the few times I would be late going for a game drive.
The Cliff is a fairly new luxury tented camp inside Lake Nakuru National Park. Unfortunately due to the lake flooding and cutting off many roads, access to the camp is quite far which in turn results in driving at least half an hour for any decent game. The Camp sent through very clear Google Map directions, and even called to make sure we were not lost. It has been while I have been wanting to stay here. Was it luxury – they try. The tents are next to each other with limited privacy. Having had a blank canvas to build a camp, why would the tents be so close together that you can hear your neighbours and see your neigbours on their decks? These privacy issues need to be addressed. The restaurant and bar tent, as well as pool area have no clear lake views – they look into the back of guest tents. Why would you build a camp on a cliff and have your common guest areas with no view? The tents offer amazing views with bathtubs at the front for a bath with a view. The bed sagged into the middle resulting in poor sleep, and you can hear the generator when it’s on (from 6.00 am). Guests in tent 10 complained they could hear the staff at night. The wait staff need training in listening and anticipating guest needs. We asked for coffee’s at 7.00 am in the tent on the first morning. Instead we get the wakeup call sans coffee. When asked – “oh forgot”, and then they arrived 15 min later. Our breakfast order on the 2nd morning was clear – two medium poached eggs, hollandaise on the side, a side of mushrooms and a side of spinach. Instead it all comes together. The food generally was okay – not what I’d expect from a luxury camp. The music in the dining tent was a great touch. Also meals took forever to be served – it was a set menu with choice, so not a huge amount of prep to be done. We tried the Cliff Boat which was great – a safari on a boat on Lake Nakuru. We got to see so much birdlife. When we arrived to the jetty area – it feels like a ghetto. Nobody to welcome you, and walking past rubbish (grotty face masks, rags and some strewn rubbish). The boat is well equipped and safety is paramount. The captain doubles up as the guide. According to him, the Little Grebe is an Egyptian Duck. I mean come on – you should have some basic guiding skills. I’m glad I tried The Cliff out – would not return in a hurry.…
excellent location. brilliant staff and food. peaceful place to chill and enjoy a relaxing weekend away. staff super friendly and helpful, welcoming and informative. difficult to find as signage is poor until inside the may park , also one gate mentioned leads to flooded roads that have been reclaimed by the lake and is inaccessible great weekend
Honestly everything was perfect at that hotel. Very beautiful and charming. Staff has been very nice and welcoming Manager Justus has been really helpful and accomodating : as I was late for my checkin,he still allowed me to have a very late lunch even if last call was way past my time of arrival. But the highlight must be the room, very nice bath overlooking lake Nakuru.. and the view the morning at Sunrise? INSANE !! Asante Sana
My husband and I stayed at The Cliff for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon safari booked with Pollman's. The hotel is beautifully taken care of and sits on the cliff of Lake Nakuru National Park, being the ONLY hotel with such an amazing, open, and breathtaking view of the lake. You'll need to drive 30-40 mins at least in order to make it down to the lake area and see the flamingos, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, and other animals but while on the way there you'll see bulls, birds, and others. This is the most luxurious hotel we've been to during our honeymoon trip. With 10 tents only, service was definitely catered to each person staying there. Each tent includes its own large deck with sitting area, a king bed, a large bathroom with hot water shower, a bath tub looking over the cliff, two sinks, a closet and a fridge. The hotel is fenced with electric wire so no animal can "accidentally" walk in to your room but just in case there is a lock to close your tent as monkeys and baboons can get very comfy we were told. The rooms have two bottles of water, cotton buds, shower caps, shampoo and great body soap and lotion so you can skip on packing those. They even provided a small kettle and coffee /tea supply, which was great to use when I woke up to admire the sunrise at 6am. I wish they had a safe in the room though as it is something commonly included nowadays. The staff were all helpful and amazing. We especially appreciated Grace's warm welcome (the manager), Joshua's service (our waiter) and Nancy's care (our room attendant). In addition, Geoffrey and Lydia were present and helping all along our trip. My husband got sick (from something he ate OUTSIDE the hotel) and the staff was super nice, checking on us and also making him rice and potatoes when he could not eat what was on the menu. They also sent over a nice plate of fruits and chocolates after we told them we were on our honeymoon. The food was excellent, the best we had on our trip - whether it is Indian, or European/American style, everything was tasty and quality. The executive chef was so friendly and he really cared about getting feedback. They also have a reasonable wine collection as well as a fully stocked bar. At night you can sit on your deck and enjoy the refreshing breeze. In the morning, you will not want to leave your eyes off the beautiful view. The lake is also birds' paradise and attracts many of them, so get your binoculars ready!! Our breakfast were very satisfying and delicious to start us on a safari day. There is no shortage of smiles and "Jambo" too, all the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The pool was amazing and we toured the gym which was decent size. The game drives were absolutely amazing, our driver Dennis with Pollman's knew where to find the main attractions and being a real connoisseur of birds he knew all of them. We learned more every day and feel that there was always more to learn with Dennis. He managed to get us to see hippos, rhinos, and others. We highly recommend the Cliff and would definitely go back when we can.…
We had a very relaxing stay at the Cliff and a stunning view of the lake from our room. The facilities were very well maintained and the staff were friendly and attentive. Great food as well! Special shout out goes to Hesborn in the dining area and Jane at the spa - great service from the both of them! Would definitely recommend the massages by Jane at the spa.
Great hotel with lovely views. Arrived in time for lunch. Fresh food and delicious to boot. Clean and the rooms were spacious and clean with nice amenities. Amazing game around and bird life. Worth a visit if you are a birder. Staff were well trained and responded to any needs.
The Cliff is a beautiful property with spectacular views, gorgeous settings, friendly and welcoming staff and the food menus were inspired by different international cuisines created with locally sourced ingredients by Chef Gideon. Everyone from check in through check out was great! We really enjoyed spending some time with Sammy who made our experience memorable and fun! Speaking with Chef Gideon was also a pleasure! His tagine was exactly like what we’ve had in Morocco. His yogurt soup reminded us of our childhood; all choices on the menu were excellent and the wine pairings too. Although there are 10 tents and there were other guests, we felt like we were the only ones there and felt like we’re everyone’s priority! Our tent was very well maintained, clean and the sunrise view was simply spectacular! Sammy brought us French pressed coffee before sunrise that we’ll remember forever! Thank you for creating these memorable moments for us! Asante Sana!…
