This place is absolutely magical. The setting in Wadi Rum is astounding. The service is absolutely impeccable and the staff could not do enough to make sure you had everything you needed. There are only six tents and they are beautifully and cosily appointed with heaters and fully functional bathrooms (complete with flushing loo and an incredible rain shower!). Dinner and breakfast were delicious and seeing the process of zarq for preparing the dinner was great. I hope we are able to come back soon ( (when it’s not raining!) and stay for longer.

Just one night stay, but we left feeling so relaxed after. Amazing views all round and impeccable service. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with beer and wine complementary. Our rooms were a very high standard, with wooden floors, hot shower and flushing toilet in the en suite bathroom. Couldn’t fault it.

We've just returned from a trip to Jordan where we spent 2 magical nights at Discovery Bedu. My holiday research suggested it was the best camp in Wadi Rum and it definitely is! Not inexpensive but definitely worth the price and it reminded us of luxurious safari camps in Africa. Just 6 elegant white traditional tents (the smallest of all the camps) and you can really feel the intense quiet of the desert when you stay here because there's not another camp in sight.

The service is faultless - there before you quite realise you need it but very unobtrusive. Perfect. The food is delicious, the tents are big and airy with giant beds, fully functional bathrooms and really effective heaters (Jordan was having an unusually chilly Spring when we were there and the desert nights were very cold.)

Stay at least 2 nights if you can to really soak up the stunning views all around you. We took a 3-hour driving tour of Wadi Rum and arrived just as night fell to find the camp gently lit up with flaming braziers and a traditional dinner ready for us.

Day 2 we spent hanging out on squashy outdoor sofas just gazing at the scenery, birdwatching and soaking up the sun. You can take a tour, trek or a camel ride but honestly I'm glad we spent the whole day at the camp. The team kept up supplied with fresh lemonade with mint, coffee whenever we wanted it and a delicious lunch served at a table for two, under a huge white parasol with chilled white wine. What more could you want? Don't hesitate to book, it's an experience like no other.

From the warm welcome with cool flannels and a drink we were shown to comfortable couches and offered wine, beer etc that kept on coming through sunset. Our dinner of lamb and chicken was cooked under the sand and was delicious. The six tents are luxurious and each has an en-suite bathroom with shower. There is no air conditioning but the nights are cool and there was a lovely breeze if we left the flaps open (they have netting to keep bugs at bay). Without wifi it’s lovely to see the stars from the desert and unwind. Thanks to the amazing hospitality of this team it was an unforgettable experience.

This is a true luxury camp in the main Wadi Rum valley just past the visitor center and through the village - probably a 20 minute ride in the back of a truck to get there. It is isolated and has only 6 guest tents. It was silent and dark - amazing star viewing. Food was outstanding. Service was perfect. The tent had hardwood floors, a comfortable king-sized bed, and a bathroom with a real toilet, a rain head shower and plentiful hot water. No insect issues at all. Amazing view of the sunset.

Ok. Suspend in your mind for a moment and do not contemplate the slight disconnect between the concept of luxury and a Bedouin Camp in one of the world's harshest environments. Remember you are not Lawrence of Arabia and this is not 1917.

Wadi Rum is one of the most dramatic landscapes in all the world. It must be seen and staying overnight to see how the desert changes when the sun goes is essential to getting the whole experience.

But you don't have to suffer. Trust me. I am all about authenticity but I saw enough of the other "camps" in my 4x4 ride through Wadi Rum to know there is no such thing as a real Bedouin Camp in this day and age. Nobody sleeps on the sand with the scorpions, ants and beetles up against the back of a camel. Even the locals sleep in town now.

So... why not transform the experience into something like a magical fantasy. That's what Discovery Bedu feels like. From the moment you arrive and are greeted by staff dressed in white robe dishdashas, carrying silver trays with fresh squeezed orange juice, and plump dates, to the first tour of your tent with a flush toilet and indoor shower, you are screaming inside with gratitude for everything they do to make up for all you did previously that day just to get here.

After orienting yourself, and witnessing a sunset like no other sunset, they serve cocktails beside your own personal bonfire. Then you advance to the dining tent with the small number of other "campers" at this inconceivably posh retreat for an incredible Bedouin Feast taken directly from a hole in the ground where it has been cooking all day in anticipation of your arrival.

Everything about this place is 1st rate by the highest of western lifestyle standards. If I had not stayed here while in Wadi Rum, it would have been nearly impossible to appreciate the unique landscape of this difficult to reach and remote part of the world, without being overshadowed by the miserable heat and blistering sun.

Give yourself a beautiful memory and stay at this place when in Wadi Rum.

My husband & I had the marvelous opportunity to end our extensive trip through Egypt & a few places in Jordan at this beautiful & serene camp.

The location of the camp is isolated from anything around the area which provides the ideal place to unplug, unwind, and enjoy the vastness & serenity of Wadi Rum.

Our host Mohammad & his staff were amazing & incredibly hospitable. Your every need was anticipated and met. Mohammad also was happy to provide as much or as little of the history of this area and the camp as you wanted to hear.

The tents were simple but superbly comfortable & provided anything you would need for a comfortable stay. Great pillows made a welcome place to surrender to sleep & dreams of this beautiful place.

The meals were delicious and tastefully served. Breakfast was served on a bluff overlooking the desert and was very tasty. We were treated to an amazing sunset as the day came to a close.

Dinner was cooked & served in the traditional Bedouin style inside a beautiful tent with delicate lighting. A single pot contained all the courses for the meal and this pot was then buried in the sand & allowed to cook slowly. Traditional wines accompanied the meal along with some wonderful stories told by our host & camp manager Mohammad.

All in all, we can't say enough about our visit to Discovery Bedu & our only regret was that we hadn't booked at least one more day at the camp.

For those of you concerned about the safety of travel in Jordan or Egypt for that matter, there is ABSOLUTELY no need to worry. We traveled through both areas extensively starting October 6th (after the war started) and at no point were we ever fearful. Please don't let the war stop you from traveling to and enjoying the beauty of Wadi Rum & Jordan & Egypt beyond.

We had very high expectations of Discovery Bedu from the previous guest reviews and the advance information sent to us by the Discovery Bedu team. Our actual experience exceeded all expectations, from the vastness of the vistas as we traveled around the desert to the luxury and impeccable setting of the camp. We have previous experience of desert camp life in Morocco and Oman which we enjoyed but was not in any sense comparable with the Discovery Bedu experience.
With only 6 tents in the camp the level of personal service was the highest possible in every way. The accommodation was luxurious, the food was outstanding - effectively a personal chef cooking your choice of meals, accompanied by surprisingly excellent Jordanian wines.
Many guests seem to be ticking the Wadi Rum box on the Jordon circuit by staying only one night. We were so pleased that we stayed for two nights and spent the intervening day on a full day trip to visit a Bedouin family and have lunch with them - one of the highlights of our Jordan trip and Jordan has a lot of highlights to compare to!
We can thoroughly recommend Discovery Bedu in every respect.

We spent one glorious night in the camp celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. It is such a special place, only accessible by a half hour jeep ride through the desert (or longer if you take the scenic route). The service is impeccable and delivered with genuine kindness and care. The views of sunrise and sunset over the desert unforgettable. And the tented bedrooms are very comfortable with fully functioning en-suite shower rooms. We couldn’t recommend it more highly. Just bring plenty of layers as the change in temperature from day to night is sudden and sizeable!
