Experiencing Discovery Bedu Wadi Rum was a treat. You might travel all over the world and not find the superior graceful service and attention to detail that the management and staff of Discovery Bedu shared with us. My husband and I have been lucky in life to enjoy extensive international travel. Our stay in Jordan was accessible but also life changing. This was our first foray into the middle east (we have traveled extensively in Asia and Africa). We loved learning the geopolitical history of Jordan and of course, appreciated above all the hospitality shared with us. Susan and Foster New York City and Lyme, CT USA
I loved my one night here. Wadi Rum is incredible, the service was hospitable, friendly, and impeccable. The staff also was very flexible accommodating a schedule change and worked seamlessly with my tour company to make sure I was taken care of. The other guests were lovely, and the view amazing. Super comfortable as well with everything you need provided. The food was also so, so good. Wadi Rum is almost completely off the grid with no cell or Wi-Fi service, so be prepared to totally disconnect. It’s part of the experience!
This place, the service, accomodations and staff are all spectacular. The food is delicious the rooms are spectacularly decorated, large and spotless. The tours are included and were wonderful. The manager Muhannad is exceptional and made us feel welcome and special as did the rest of the staff. And the views from this place are otherwordly.
Absolutely the very best……Lynette and I just finished a 2 night stay at this camp. Words can not begin to express our experience….luxurious tents, wonderful food, a terrific staff always there for whatever you need and an ideal location both remote in the desert and breathtakingly beautiful. And did I mention the spectacular sunsets viewed from the camp with a nice glass of white wine or a cold beer. We have never stayed at another hotel or resort where the staff was so attentive to whatever you need…always there with a cold drink, a damp washcloth, an umbrella for shade, etc….The camp is definitely 5* in every way. We would love to find another opportunity to return to the camp and spend time with Muhanad and his wonderful team. You can not find a better experience at Wadi Rum..Book it!!!!!!…
It is with trepidation that I write this review because I don't want this wonderful place to get any larger. After noticing many camps in Wadi Rum on our way to Discovery Bedu, my husband and I were terrified thinking that we were going to end up spending time in the desert with a crowd of tourists. As soon as we saw the camp, small and gorgeous, we were greeted with tea, a scrumptious date and ice old hand towels. And from there on, we were spoiled every minute. The food, the attention, the silence, the tent, the sky, all amazing. We will be back to spend a few days there again!
Ok. Suspend in your mind for a moment and do not contemplate the slight disconnect between the concept of luxury and a Bedouin Camp in one of the world's harshest environments. Remember you are not Lawrence of Arabia and this is not 1917. Wadi Rum is one of the most dramatic landscapes in all the world. It must be seen and staying overnight to see how the desert changes when the sun goes is essential to getting the whole experience. But you don't have to suffer. Trust me. I am all about authenticity but I saw enough of the other "camps" in my 4x4 ride through Wadi Rum to know there is no such thing as a real Bedouin Camp in this day and age. Nobody sleeps on the sand with the scorpions, ants and beetles up against the back of a camel. Even the locals sleep in town now. So... why not transform the experience into something like a magical fantasy. That's what Discovery Bedu feels like. From the moment you arrive and are greeted by staff dressed in white robe dishdashas, carrying silver trays with fresh squeezed orange juice, and plump dates, to the first tour of your tent with a flush toilet and indoor shower, you are screaming inside with gratitude for everything they do to make up for all you did previously that day just to get here. After orienting yourself, and witnessing a sunset like no other sunset, they serve cocktails beside your own personal bonfire. Then you advance to the dining tent with the small number of other "campers" at this inconceivably posh retreat for an incredible Bedouin Feast taken directly from a hole in the ground where it has been cooking all day in anticipation of your arrival. Everything about this place is 1st rate by the highest of western lifestyle standards. If I had not stayed here while in Wadi Rum, it would have been nearly impossible to appreciate the unique landscape of this difficult to reach and remote part of the world, without being overshadowed by the miserable heat and blistering sun. Give yourself a beautiful memory and stay at this place when in Wadi Rum.…
This place is amazing. We were transferred by jeep from the visitor centre, stopping at a number of points en route. On arrival, we were greeted with refreshing towels and drinks and shown to our tent, which was spectacular. Lovely comfortable bed, en suite shower and Bath. Only 6 tents so very much an exclusive experience with everything included, including wine, beer etc. Sundowners followed and then into the dining tent for dinner, cooked traditionally under the sand. Amazing stars with no light pollution. Fantastic staff. The only challenge was the 4.30 am wake up the next morning to do our balloon ride. But that was great too - and a lovely breakfast was waiting for us on the terrace when we got back. Brilliant.
I rarely write reviews but this camp was SPECTACULAR and deserves the praise. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with open arms by the staff and given top notch service. The camp is gorgeous with all the luxury touches you wouldn’t expect in the desert. The happy hour views at sunset and morning sunrise camel rides were unforgettable. The breakfast is delicious and is served on a rock, overlooking all the desert and the Bedouin dinner is intimate and lovely. Truly an amazing place that I will always recommend to other travelers.
This is one of the most blissful experiences of my life. The desert is fascinating, beautiful landscapes and stunning scenery. The camp is just perfection. So comfortable, peaceful with amazing views. The food and service was exceptional, I wish I could give it 6 stars. The staff made the place so good. They went out of their way to make us welcome, I’m pescatarian and they managed to get me a fish for the evening meal. Would recommend 100%
This was an absolutely splendid experience. I'd never been glamping before, but I don't think I can do it again anywhere else, because this was so great that I think it's been absolutely spoiled for anyone else to attempt it. You're met at your vehicle with water and a hot towel, and your things are taken to your tent while you follow behind. The tents themselves are amazing, complete with bathrooms and showers (and beds of course) with appropriate temperature controls (via a heater) for the colder nighttimes. It's weird taking a shower in the desert but only because it's not something you would think to do -- not because it's unpleasant. But it really works. The staff were on-hand to help with literally anything related to this, or anything else for that matter. The service is excellent all around. Between the amazing food (cooked traditionally on the first night) and still amazing on our second cooked in front of us on a grill, and the attentiveness of the staff (at one point I thought they were transporting from place to place) it's really incredible how they can maintain such thorough attention to detail while delivering excellence. On our first day we were one of a few families/guests, but we had the entire place to ourselves the second. It was heavenly - just amazing food and drink and topped up to whatever level you wanted while you were lounging or wandering within the camp. One thing to note: no wifi! This is okay though! It's great to be somewhere where there's no signal -- where you can't be bothered by the outside world for a while. It's a good part of the charm -- you're forced to relax -- lying on one of the swinging bed with a glass of endless delicious wine while reading or just watching the sun go down -- it's as my title says -- timeless transcendent tranquility. The view of the sunset is spectacular, and to see so many stars come out shortly after is something most people never get to see and well worth experiencing. As we get older, we tend to forget things, but I can assure you that as this happens to me, this experience will have been indelibly etched into my mind. I'll be in the retirement community some day, and still bothering my neighbours with the story of Discovery Bedu, and while pretending to be annoyed they'll all secretly be jealous, even after hearing it for the 600th time. If you want those kinds of memories - there's no better place to get them than Discovery Bedu.…
