Great guy , super friendly , very informative and funny. Is just what a proper tour guide would you expect to be. We went only for a two hour jeep tour but it was great. I wish a had more time to spent.
Omar and his staff know what hospitality is about. We arrived late, but for a small fee we were picked up. We missed dinner, but this was not a problem, dinner was prepared for us nevertheless. And top quality! The spot is so so nice, with a lovely camp-seating area, the silence is just unreal, the stars at night most amazing. The tents are good size, very clean, the shower and bathrooms all very clean, I will be back here for sure. THere are many simular camps, various prices etc, but I will be back with Omar. We put a schedule togehter for one day, breakfast and lunch was prepared, all relaxed and easy going, no rushing from one place to the other. We put an hour camel ride in, and Omar had it all perfectly planned and scheduled. Excellent, I cant fault anyting :-)
Firstly, I must admit to living in Jordan now for three years. In that time, I have traveled to Wadi Rum approximately 8-10 times (maybe more). Each and every time, I have toured and stayed with Omar Ghazi. Furthermore, I have recommended Omar to many people who have all had very similar experiences to me and my family. Hopefully after reading my review you will understand why and want to experience the same. OMAR This guy is a legend. He is articulate, funny, innovative, has drive and initiative. He is a local Bedouin and shares his knowledge and passion for his land like any indigenous person. Self taught in English, Omar is an excellent communicator. He even speaks a little French and Japanese (and Arabic, of course). He is welcoming of all people, especially our children. He is kind, considerate and well-organised. TOUR Omar (as his website promotes) can take you to all sorts of sites in Wadi Rum. We have been all over this amazing place with Omar in our time, with our favourite trips being the ones to the north of Wadi Rum where there are often less crowds. On one occasion, Omar even met a group of us and drove up from Aqaba entering Wadi Rum at its southern most point and driving to the camp that way. He know his way around intimately and explains things in great detail to enhance your experience. CAMP In the last 6-8 months, Omar has started his own camp. It is very new and well-designed. There are nine tents (with expansion planned) that have varying capacity. For example, there are currently two tents with five beds in each, which is perfect for a family. Omar has also built a toilet block where he plans to separate mens and womens showers/toilets. Many of the general camps (not the super fancy ones) have unisex toilets, which can be uncomfortable for some people. Omar's camp also has a massive main tent which houses a lovely fireplace and comfortable seating. The young man who is currently employed as the cook does a wonderful job and the zarb (underground cooking) is incredibly tasty (zaki jidden). The views from Omar's camp are also stunning; and, as Omar says, the views from the main tent are like "the best TV in the world". This is not a paid review by any means. As I stated, I have stayed with Omar on many occasions and find him to be an excellent guide and person. His new camp is also fabulous. Do yourself a favour and book with Omar Ghazi. You will not regret it!…
Family with two kids spent a night in the camp. We got picked up in the village and brought to the camp. Very friendly atmosphere, amazing dinner made the Bedouin way. Nice Jeep safari the day after, and a camel ride to top it all off.
