The camp is located right at the gate for Mgahinga National Park and therefore in the perfect location for anyone looking to do activities at the park (gorilla trekking, hiking Sabinyo, etc.). The food was delicious and promptly served - they also offered a packed lunch which was perfect for taking with us on our hike. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Do note that in the private rooms there is no running water (there are compost toilets and hot showers using boiled water running through their shower heads). It is tricky to turn the shower "on" you have to balance on a wobbly stool and there is no lighting in the shower stall/room itself making it difficult to see at night.
A simple, yet nice, lodge at the entrance to Mgahinga National Park. The food was good and plentiful, which was very necessary after hiking up Mt Sabinyo in a thunderstorm. Hot water was available upon request for showers, and Alan was responsive to our requests and needs. The only downside was that there was no power for most of the time, necessitating the use of headlamps after 7pm. Also, be wary of the stool in the shower, as it rocks when you are turning on and off the shower. All in all, a great no-frills lodge very conveniently located to Mgahinga for gorilla trekking or mountain hikes!
I stayed there with a group of 5 and we all enjoyed it. The location is great, very close to the Mgahinga NP where you can do lots of activities (hikes, Gorilla and Golden monkey tracking, visit to the Pygmy village etc.), the staff is friendly and nice, the food was great, rooms were nice and clean, some of them were renovated literally minutes before we arrived. I will definitely return.
We stayed extra nights as we realy enjoyed our stay. The banda was nicely decorated with paintings. Staff was amazing (Alan, Clemencia, George thank you!) and made great food! The veranda has a great views on the park. Volleyball court just outside the building
We were 4 nights in the Camp. The rooms are simpel and good. Perfect Location to do the gorilla tracking, volcano hiking and golden monkey tracking (There is the 2nd oldest Silverback in the world). Very helpful and friendly staff!
