The hotel is kind of nice with traditional architecture and the swimming pool in central position. However in being in wood some modern appliances do not work. We had to chance room twice because our air conditioning was not working, kibd of annoying.

We stayed at the Ruean Thai in November between our travels from Ayutthaya and Chiang Mai. From the moment of our arrival to our departure the service was not only faultless but above and beyond what I would expect from any hotel. The staff and management made us so welcome and were always on hand and happy to help. From greeting us on a rainy day with umbrella in hand to carry our luggage and escort us to our rooms, advising us on things to do locally (we were lucky enough to be there when the candle festival at the historic park was in full effect) and arranging transport. This went beyond the call of duty when the manager offered to book our bus tickets to Chiang Mai for us. Not only securing first class tickets at the last minute while were out enjoying the festivities (which required a lengthy hold time on the phone) but also personally driving to the bus station herself and picking our tickets up, off her own back. Transport was even supplied from the hotel to the bus station. I have never received such an attentive service from a hotel in all my years of travelling. Simply outstanding. In regards to the hotel itself, the rooms are spotless well appointed with comfortable beds and decent showers en-suite. The swimming pool was a most welcome addition. The restaurant is of a pretty decent standard too if you, like us, had enough of traipsing around for one day and just wanted to grab something well cooked to eat in the open air area, watching rabbits hobble about. All in all, if I'm ever back in Sukhothai this would be my first choice of places to stay. NB. Around the corner are a selection of local bars that provide superb live music and a friendly laid back night out without having to venture miles away.

The place to stay if you want to experience a traditional Thai atmosphere. Rooms were all clean and tidy. Staff very helpful. We chose a deluxe room and superior for the boys. Both were comfortable. The deluxe was truly Thai, a pleasant change from the normal modern hotel.

We stay in the Ruean Thai Hotel for two nights whilst travelling up to Chiang Mai. The staff were really friendly and helpful with information regarding the area. Our room was a traditional Thai style and had a unique feel to it. The pool area was lovely with sun loungers surrounding. They also had rabbits which lived in the hotel grounds, a little touch which made this hotel different from others. We were given a lift free of charge to the bus station the next day which was very kind of the staff! Was great value for money and so if we were to visit the area again, we would certainly stay here! Thanks for a lovely stay!

The stop for visiting Sukkhotai was one of the highlights of our trip. We rent a car from Chiang Mai to Rayong and we, a family of 4, decided to visit Sukkhotai. We were recommended to stay at Ruean Thai Hotel and it was definitely the best choice! This boutique hotel provides all what you need: Large room (family), swimming pool and restaurant with exceptional food. It is 10km outside heritage site but with our car it was not a problem. We had to chance to meet and discuss with lovely owners Our kids love to play with rabbits as well ;) We will come back for sure!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights ,the reception staff were very helpful and friendly.Rooms were clean and comfortable with a fridge TV ,but no safe. The pool area is very well laid out in a position central to the hotel which is very rustic and full of unusual antiques. The restaurant food was good, well cooked and at a reasonable price ,and breakfast was good. A small minus is the hotel is situated a fair way from the town area but taxis are reasonable and supplied by the hotel .The Sukhothai Historical Park with its temples is amazing and not to be missed. Our AC was fine but my sons was not too good and had to change rooms ,.Overall very nice staff and a nice feel to the hotel.Well done.

The hotel is very charming with traditional timber architecture. It has a very nice pool area and the rooms are clean. However the standard room windows only have shutters and not glass. So you clearly hear all the noise from outside, motorbikes in the road alongside the hotel, barking dogs (lots) and the live band at a nearby bar (every night till midnight). So unless you are a heavy sleeper you should consider other hotels.

Response from Sathima K, Manager at Ruean Thai Hotel
Responded Feb 7, 2019
Thank you for your review. It seems like the noise is from the neighbor business not the hotel. If you can also help us review neighbor business, and inform their problem it will be nice. The hotel established since 1997 before bar and restaurant came and everyone have to follow Governor regulation and law that shouldn't bother other people.

We stayed in this place for a few nights mid-way through our Thai adventure. What a wonderful hotel. The reception team are endlessly helpful (although language can be a struggle - but it is asking too much for us to expect everyone to speak English simply because we do) with the husband even driving us to the bus station for free one day, and advising on places to visit. The rooms are comfortable, and the swimming pool area beautiful - although I didn't have a swim I did relax in the courtyard reading my book. The pet rabbits are a nice quaint touch, and the onsite restaurant was also fantastic - a great selection of foods and all at excellent prices. We loved the place so much we even bought a few souvenirs in the shop to help support the hotel. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town, so it was quiet, but close enough to town if needed - we walked into town, it took around 5 minutes along the main street. A fabulous find.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed the helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable but a little different than most. My room had windows but they were closed off with wooden shutters. With no screens or glass windows. So if you have the A/C on you should close the shutters to keep the cold in. By doing so you have no natural light coming in. All of the rooms (as far as I know) face the pool. The room was very nice and clean as was the bathroom. The internet is a little slow but just be patient. Oh and beware of the "watch rabbits" they are watching you.

Stayed at the hotel on the way to Chiang Mai. Not easy to find; but worth the effort. Room was a bit cramped; bathroom a bit dark. Otherwise fine - despite the noisy aircon.😕! Pool & hotel common areas are traditional Thai & very well presented! Restaurant was very good with an extensive & reasonably priced Thai & European food. Good wine list - not too expensive (for Thailand).
