Such a beautiful place, great location on the river with direct access to the promenade. The place has a mxture of Mediterranean and Thai features which work really well together and each room has character and charm plus all the things you need to be comfortable. Julian the owner was lovely too! Would totally recommend!
I was stranded for 3 months in Nong Khai (COVID lockdown) and I stayed at Mut Mee the entire time. It was a wonderful place to be stranded on - lush garden setting, lovely hands-on family operating the hotel, 3 gorgeous pets (with personalities!). Within the same grounds are yoga offering, reiki, bookstore, and herb spa. Location is right along the newly finished promenade overlooking the Mekong River. Amazing sunset view. Highly recommended!
This place is an institution in Nong Khai. The manager, polished Julian, tells me that he has been in Nong Khai for 31 years but maybe not all at Mut Mee. We started in a standard double unit that was very comfortable and had older style Thai decoration and building materials such as a thick wooden floor. We upgraded to a superior room that had a Mediterranean-Thai feel mainly because of the ochre and stone colour tiles. The bathroom was smallish but modern and well-designed and the shower had 3 round discs surrounded by smooth rocks.Nice. There is also a useful outside balcony with views of the great gardens and glimpses of the river. All very comfortable and relaxing. In fact the location is superb, right along the river and promenade with its cycleway but yet outside the busy restaurant and bar strip. It's about 500 metres walk to the famous Vietnamese and Mackys Riverside restaurants. That plus the gardens make it very peaceful. You will hear temple sounds but I liked that. We visited just after pandemic lockdown was being eased so it was quieter in Nong Khai than usual, however Saturday night is popular and rooms fill up. Normally there are yoga, meditations, massage on-site, meals and a 5 pm river cruise but it was not normal times. Sadly even the German bakery was closed. A great place to stay, good value and great atmosphere.…
Very particular hotel where you can find rooms at a reduced price with shared dormitories, medium price rooms and more luxurious rooms. The outdoor restaurant is very impressive and well-stocked. This property is structured and run with a spirit of familiarity. The kitchen service is well organized so that guests can order their meal and is served both in the room, on the terrace and in many tables scattered in the large park.
This is the perfect place to stay in Nong Khai and we liked literally everything here: the rooms and buildings, decorated in authentic Thai style, the food, cooked by talanted chefs, the atmosphere, created by nice owner Julian and his team. We'll definitely come back here on our next trip.
