Last time I stayed here (2010) I did so for reasons that no longer apply. I stayed with a group of Thais who had never seen a hotel before, let alone a swimming pool. That was my third stay and this week, I booked again for two nights before travelling to Laos. I only lasted one night so bad was...

Choosing this hotel for our group prior to our visit to Laos. Similar to all post earlier, the hotel is definitely old. However, the room is spacious and clean. If the hotel conduct renovation, it is not difficult for them to return to 4 stars international standard. It is true that the room is dated. I've got the Junior suite...

We stayed one night at hotel Royal Mekong Nong Khai. Friendly staff and big clean room. The hotel is an old hotel. There is no doubt, which once the hotel has been of a high standard, but not today. The room need a fresh up or renovation. With a location by Mekong River, it would have been great with a...

...it was the number one hotel in Nong Khai. You will see the photo with crowned royalties in the lobby.... Now you might feel the charme of former decades Rooms are spacy with good beds and big window overlooking the Bridge of Friendship, the Mekong and the outdoor pool, which is not refreshened because of high temperatures in May. Also...

This hotel is a big concrete monster with distinct lack of charm but plenty of fungus growing on the walls. We got an up-grade (which was mightily nice of the reception and probably the reason why I've not rated it as terrible!) and I don't even dare to think about what it would have been otherwise. The cupboard with the...

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The sheets on the beds had holes in, bedding did not appear to be clean or fresh, the breakfast was awful, table cloths very dirty. Very much needs up dating and cleaning.

Today 21.12.2011 I tried to check in. I got a room, which was not cleaned, full of trash. When looking in the bath room, I saw cockcroach on the floor. I did not stay in this hotel. I wonder, how this hotel can have gotten ISO 9001 certification. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Another reviewer called it a 'tired old lady' and that about sums it up. Clean and comfortable with reasonable breakfast but I'm happy we only paid half the rack rate. It is close to the Friendship Bridge but well out of town.

“Every room have the view to Mekong River, so all will have a good view. Half of the hotel has room against the swimmingpool, so in season there might be more noise in that part of the hotel.”
