Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a sea view villa for 3 nights, the room was lovely and the views amazing, I loved watching the sunset from our balcony every evening. The only downside I would say of the room is that the lightning felt quite dark in there, not great for getting ready, apart from that it was great.
Before arriving I was worried how far out and steep this hotel would be but it really wasn’t too far and they run a shuttle bus down the hill throughout most of the day. I’d say it’s too hot to walk up and down during the day but each evening we would walk back up, also a big supermarket on the way up which was useful! The walk up to our room was quite steep but they did have a golf buggy to take you up, perhaps consider which room you are staying in for the less mobile.
Due to Coronavirus the hotel was much quieter than usual so hard to say what this is like on peak season, the pools and communal areas were nice and quiet while we were there. We liked the salt water pool, my boyfriend actually ended up doing a 1 day dive with the diving school in the hotel, they were also great.
Overall great stay and probably my favourite hotel or our 12 day trip across Thailand.

We booked 4 nights here to combine with doing PADI open water course since it was possibly in the resort itself. We were not disappointed. The resort is located on the hill behind the Main Street and around 15min (steep) walk to reach. We managed every day although there is a shuttle that runs a few times each day. There is a supermarket with 5min walk and a 7/11 at the end of the road. Location is really perfect! Being high up means great views for breakfast and since we booked a sea view villa it was incredible from our balcony for sunset! The see view villa was rather small, no door on the toilet meaning friends might not feel comfortable sharing. The bed and linen were VERY luxurious and we slept well! Breakfast buffet was diverse and the highlight was the espresso machine which served hot cappuccinos and like plus freshly squeezed fruit and veggie smoothies. The dive center and Debby was the highlight! Debby arranged everything for me when I called and I Steve as my instructor with 12 years experience who made me feel very comfortable and most importantly, I had fun! The dive boat was huge with big seating areas and served fresh fruit and tea and coffee. All the staff went out of their way to be of service and I fell in love with Koh Tao! Thank you Tarna Align and the Dive team for such a memorable vacation and experience.

Overall we had a fantastic experience at the Tarna Align hotel. If you are wondering whether to spend a little extra money than the typical hotels in the area, I would recommend you do so as this is clearly one of the better ones on the island that won’t cost an arm and a leg.
Check in and out very smooth, they offer a shuttle service at various points throughout the day down to the beach. This is basically a requirement for a guest as the walk up and down the hill is probably a good 50 minutes (probably longer in all honesty but we never tested it) and in the 30 degree heat I guarantee you will not want to do this.
Breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious and catered to all tastes and preferences. The pool area is great and has a fully equipped bar to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
The main standing out point of this hotel is the staff. Every person we encountered at this hotel smiled and was very polite, and all were very receptive to any guests’ request, which made our stay so pleasant. WhatsApp communication is available through to the reception staff so very easy to arrange pickup to the hotel from the beach and message reception staff while in the rooms.
The only downside we had was that when we were by the pool, the pool attendant was playing music via Bluetooth when the connection was awful and stuttered every 30 seconds and wouldn’t play a song properly. I asked him at the bar if he could stop this and didn’t really understand what I said. I had to ask the reception staff afterwards to stop this in future as it was really quite irritating to listen to and ruined the ambiance by the pool so we had to listen to our earphones. This was acknowledged by the staff and they apologised profusely so all good. Don’t really understand how he wasn’t irritated by it because we didn’t listen to a song the full way through in 3 hours we sat by the pool.
Apart from this, we had an amazing time while staying at this hotel and was some of the best night’s sleeps we’ve had in a month in Thailand.

This hotel was a good standard initially, we only booked 1 night here however was impressed by our first room so decided to stay another night. The only room available was an upgraded sea view villa which we were happy to pay for due to the great first night we had. However we were disappointed with our second room, considering it was supposed to be an upgrade our safe didn’t work and we were told that we were not able to have a key to our room as the machine had broken meaning every time we wanted to go to our room a member of staff had to come with us to let us in. They said that the key would not be available until a few days as the machine had broken. I explained that we’d upgraded our room and this was a disappointment as were very happy before. The staff understood this and we were refunded 700baht for the inconvenience which was greatly appreciated.
Other than that we couldn’t fault this hotel. It was clean, the pool was great and was open 24hours and the food was amazing. There was also a free shuttle bus to and from Sairee beach at certain times and it was 50baht if we wanted a taxi from hotel outside of these times.
The staff were also very kind when we were transferring to our next hotel as I was injured due to a moped accident and they took me to our next hotel on one of there smaller carts meaning they were able to take me straight to the door with my luggage. This was very kind of them and we tipped them for this gesture.

1) The first two nights in a Villa Sea View was amazing, new room and nice view. Getting golf car to go up and down to the room was annoying. Also we had to walk pretty far to get a golf car!?
2) We called to order some drink but we were informed that we will be charged 20 baht for food delivery to room. I think 20 baht is not that much but are you kidding me? We paid room plus tax and service charge and we paid additional to have a room upgrade but you charge 20 baht for food delivery.?
3) On the last two nights, we paid additional for upgrade to Pool Access room. We were move to a very old and not functional room. Power went out more than 5 times in two days. We called Front Desk at night and we got the response only "it's normal here at Front Desk" from a guy. The pool was very old and it was so dark at night so we called Front Desk at night and she said only "it couldn't be fixed because it's normal" Next day we informed a lady at front desk and she said she can let engineer try to fix it and finally it worked. That means the Front Desk Staff at night did not try to help and solve the problem. Air-con was also unstable but we gave up to call anyone to fix it.
4. We were not happy with the front desk staff at all, especially night shift staff. Whenever we walked pass by, we saw them only chit chat to each other and seem lazy and not happy to serve customer all the time. The lady in the morning shift who checked us in was the nicest one though. No one say hi or greet their customer at all.
5. Everything at restaurant was so amazing. Dinner we had was much better than what we expected. Energenic and friendly staff. They always greet whoever walked pass. This is an impression. The small lady staff and a guy at breakfast place were very nice and always said yes to customer. This is a very good thing here.

We stayed one week in this hotel and it was awesome. The people here are friendly and are trying to do everything for us so we are feeling welcome. The breakfast is amazing and delicious. There is a salt water pool which is over 3 meter deep and a normal pool. There is a shuttle service to the center of town and back. If you want a golf car is driving to your room and you can even call them form your room. If your are want to do the diving certificate you can do this in the hotel they are working together with Pady and it takes around 3,5 days and is including theory, training in the salt water pool and training in the open water. We would definitely are coming back next year.

We initially stayed here for 1 night however because one of us got sick we planned to stay another night. The staff were so nice and helpful. They even booked a ferry ticket back to chomporn for us when we couldn’t find any online.
They quickly checked us in to a new room with beautiful private swimming pool that is breathtaking!!! Not disappointed at all. They have free shuttle buses all day for free and after hours for only 50 baht per person!
Highly recommend!!

Hotel is very new, has been built in the past few years - remember the road being built last time I visited. Rooms are modern, light and clean. Nice offering.
Was upgraded on arrival as I’m a gold member on Expedia, but was asked to change rooms partway through. Asked for baggage to be transferred between rooms but when I arrived back, it was on the street and it took a while to communicate this to staff. No apologies or care from them.
Bed is one of the most comfortable on the island, which is a positive.
Breakfast was included and offered lots of choice but little extras missing from what I would expect from a hotel advertising itself at this level - no soya or alternative milk or gluten free option. No flexibility on weird premixed juice options. Lots of flies all over the salad bar and cakes which aren’t covered.
Pool is lovely but again, poolside bar is lacking service wise and their offering is very limited. Only cheap sugary cocktails which are really overpriced.
The overall impression is that the staff love to say NO, rather than try to make guests happy. Reception and hospitality staff also weren’t that friendly, didn’t see many smiles for the whole trip and seem to be a lack of care generally. Only bellboys seemed to go above and beyond.

Stayed her for 4 night and I would say for the price the hotel is average.
The rooms are nice and big, but unfortunately the air conditioning can not cool that size room and my partner and I struggled to sleep due to the heat most evenings. As mentioned in other reviews the walls to the toilet are glass so be sure to have a close relationship with whoever you are staying with, if you don’t you will do by the end of your stay
It is roughly 10mins walk to the beach and tourist area so you do get a balance of relaxation, as well as being close enough to the action.
The hotel bars and restaurants close at 2.30pm, so you have to go out for dinner which we do most the time but you like to have to option to eat at the hotel if you wanted.
This hotel is not for those with mobility issues as the walk up and down is on a hill, but the reception do provide a shuttle at certain times. Also, the rooms are up steep stairs.
The views are lovely but overall for the price, I doubt I would stay again.
Also, be sure to book your ferry off Koh Tao as early as possible, we were not warned they get booked up very quickly and we had to stay an addition night.

Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for your message.
The Shark bay is far away from the resort and you need to take a taxi. Our Shuttle service unfortunately can only take you to Sairee town and Mae Haad Pier.
You can either book Deluxe or Semi-Private Pool for your family. and for the rates please, kindly email us privately.
Lastly, yes we rent snorkel equipment. However I would suggest for you to buy a new set as it is more cheaper.
I hope this information helps.
Thank you!
Take a private boat from the town to Shark Bay!
We brought our own snorkeling gear!
A room with pool access is probably the nicest for the four of you!
Dear gracemary1989,
Greetings from The Tarna Align Resort!
Thank you for your message.
Our Semi-Private Pool is worth it, as you can enjoy using the pool anytime. Unlike the public pool there are certain time that will open and close. You can also sit back and relax on your food and drinks via room service on your balcony.
The hotel is about 15 minutes walk down to the center and the hotel offer shuttle service up and down or you can also rent a scooter as an easy access around the Island.
The resort provides free transfer service from Koh Tao Pier to resort.
We require your arrival information so we can come pick up you at the pier. The information needed will be sent through email separately.
I hope this information help and would be looking forward to see you!
Thank you!
Best regards,
Kenrose Esden
