Ban's Diving Resort is lauded for offering good value through its diving courses and accommodations, with guests particularly enjoying the resort's vibrant atmosphere and live music. While some guests have praised the spacious rooms and stunning views, others have pointed out issues with noise and maintenance. The amenities, including multiple pools and diving facilities, are popular among guests, although there are occasional remarks about equipment problems. The location earns high marks for its proximity to beaches and dive spots. Service is generally seen as friendly and professional, though not without the occasional hiccup in responsiveness.

We stayed a whole week at the BAN’S Resort and had a lovely stay. We had a superior room and were very happy about it. The rooms are much more comfortable and larger compared to the cheaper rooms. The room was very clean and we had a direct view to the pool. Also the pool above was very nice and never overflowed. I particularly liked the sustainable concept. The shower items are produced in the hotel, the towels and bed linen are actually only changed when you put a sign on the bed. However, these were changed more often with us. If necessary, you will also be driven to the rooms. Breakfast is also super delicious and the waitresses very friendly. The infrastructure at the resort is really extremely good. There is a 24 hour market, a 7/11 in the immediate vicinity, you can rent a scooter directly on site and drop off your laundry.

The only negative points were that the walls are extremely clairvoyant. We also paid a really high sum for the courses and accommodation and still had to pay a 3% fee on a card payment. That alone was only 70€ in fee we paid. We found that very really annoying!

My first attempt at underwater diving & I have to say after doing my research about the 70 dive schools in Koh Tao, i'm extremely happy I went forward with Bans.

About PADI Open Water
- My instructor was Ella, a deft veteran who is also skilled as an educator to facilitate the art of diving.
- She was able to accommodate my eleventh hour changes & impressed us with her resourcefulness and patience.
- I faced issues with equalising during my pool practice & first dive, she was prompt to aid me with medication and strategies to avoid the same in the future.
-While diving she was hypervigilant which made it easier for first time divers.
- I applaud her wariness & professionalism during the briefings before & after the dives.

-If you're a novice in the field, I would suggest you to go forward with Ella!

About Bans
- The property is central to Sairee Beach with an absolutely beautiful view of the sunset everyday.
-Many fancy Breakfast & Dinner places around the place.
-FishBowl their own resto has the best live music around the place.
-We booked an AC Deluxe room which was average that we later changed to a Superior room which was worth the payment.
-The staff is courteous, pickup & drop is available from the pier during the ferry timings.

No regrets choice!! If you want to go to any sea and become a diver who can do it on his own, then you can go to Bansdive Korea Joey-Hom.

After a lot of searches, I went to Kōtō for 19 years of instructor careers, and it was really nice to teach you not just to get a certificate, but also a variety of tips that you can use when you pioneer later. Once again, thank you very much.

The facilities at the Bansdive Resort were not only nice but also very comfortable, first of all the Bansdive Resort was just in front of the accommodation with a swimming pool. Even when you leave the resort for diving, it was so comfortable and nice to go to the harbour without going directly off the beach in front of the resort for diving.👏👏

There are 5 deep-water pools in the van resort!!! After training or pioneering, go to my dorm pool and get a drink, lie down and relax and swim. There was no paradise.
And there is a large restaurant inside the resort, so the menu is varied and delicious, and it was nice to study at any time. Banksy Resort is really cool!!!

The most important equipment when diving! It's good that the van resort dive equipment is well inspected... After I did a dive in other Southeast Asian countries, I felt bitter. When diving at the latest, the van resort equipment never failed.😁

Open water, advanced education and diving inquiries / reservations can be searched on the Katok channel "Bansdive", and Mr. Joey Hwang will respond very kindly and in detail. I'm also rehearsing Vanessa every time I go! Seriously shoot.

Spent 3 nights here.
The location is absolutely beautiful, both the beach villas and the hilltop residence, with nice pools surrounded by trees and just a couple of minutes away from the beach.
However, there are many different things to improve.

First and foremost I find quite unacceptable that the reception and all the services stop at around 8PM, because the price paid and the 3 or 4 stars review usually should be accompanied with good services provided by the facility.
Moreover, if you are staying at the hilltop, without the residence cart or a rented scooter it is gonna be quite hard to get to your place, since it is pretty steep. And the signs are scarce and do not help in locating your place (on the first night we got lost and had to walk around the residence for 15 minutes in order to find our place).

Having stayed there just 3 nights we of course experienced just 2 room cleaning turns. Well, the second time they changed my sheets but didn't clean my bathroom. No big deal, since i was alone and rarely in the room, but still something not to be overlooked.
Unmissable, like in many other places all around the world, the "Save the world" sticker in order to not have your towels changed every day. Such a pity that the saving of the world ends ther for Ban's diving village, since the beachfront restaurant at night becomes a very busy (and noisy) club, were they definitely do not save any money on plastic glasses which are everywhere and sometimes end up in the sea with the high tide.

Room noise insulation is pretty poor, i could hear my neighbors talking as well as going to the toilet to do their business and again, if you have a beach villa, get used to the people clubbing up to 2 AM just in front of your place.

So, in short, beautiful location but much to be improved regarding the services, especially for the price paid.

My wife and I visited Koh Tao on 19 Jan 25, staying in the jungle house. We expected to stay in a jungle eco-resort surrounded by nature, as advertised; we had an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. We do not recommend this resort to couples or families looking for a relaxing or romantic stay in Koh Tao.

On arrival, we checked in and a buggy took us to our building, approximately 1 KM away. The accommodation was immediately next door to a building site with large piles of rubble everywhere (see pictures below). Construction work was also ongoing in our accommodation building and there were piles of tools on the single stairway up to our room. Immediately behind our accommodation building appeared to be the staff accommodation, with more piles of debris and a generally unkempt environment. Loud building work (drilling, hammering and scaffolding) took place from 8AM (waking us up) until the evening.

The room was clean yet basic. The bathroom was a wet room with a basic shower head protruding from the wall, with no shower curtain or washing area. This meant the toilet got soaked every time you used it.

The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. When we looked to see if there was a topper, we found a ‘Spiderman’ mattress cover, which was amusing but didn’t ring true with the advertised ‘authentic Thai interior’ description. We asked reception if there was a different mattress or another topper and they offered to add more toppers that afternoon. When we returned at 10 PM, no more toppers had been added and we had to call reception to get them to call out the housekeeping team, who arrived in their pyjamas. Regardless, we had a very uncomfortable and sleepless night.

Other factors influenced our stay. The walls in the building are paper thin and we heard everything happening in the adjacent room at 3am. There is a large fridge in the room, which banged and rattled throughout the night. The pool near the Jungle house is also very basic and there is no bar or shop within walking distance; a buggy ride is needed for any supplies.

We spoke with reception to inquire about changing rooms and decided that an upgrade to a deluxe room was the only was to salvage our Koh Tao experience.

When we moved into our deluxe garden room we immediately found a cockroach, which the porter removed. The room was smaller than the Jungle Room and there were sliding doors that didn’t fully seal. Our neighbours were backpackers who were noisy throughout the night and constantly smoking cannabis on their balcony; the unsealed doors meant our room was very noisy and smelled very strongly of cannabis. This was very frustrating and we did not get a restful nights sleep whilst staying there; it certainly wasn’t the deluxe experience we expected and definitely not worth the extra expense.

After two uncomfortable nights, we asked to change rooms again and we were moved to a Hilltop Deluxe. This room was comfortable and we had a pleasant evening, although our previous experience had ruined our stay on Koh Tao.

Really nice hotel, rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable in comparison to others we’ve experienced in Thailand.

It’s in a perfect location, the hotel food is really good and cheap and the bar just below it on the beach is fun at night. The resort is big and on a steep hill but you can ask staff to take you around if needed.

One issue is we had a huntsman spider in our room & 2 scorpions. Even though the rooms were extremely clean I think because we were on the ground floor we were unlucky. I had to call reception 3 times before someone came to help us with it.

The ‘resort’ is a strip from the beach to the top of a very steep hill with a busy main road in between. The top part appears newer whilst the bottom part does feel a bit old and dark and whilst a tropical garden runs through the middle, the steep paths and giant steps will make access very difficult for some. This is the same when trying to cross the busy road. No one stops so you need to be quick about it. Beware if you have young children.

We stayed in the deluxe double with garden view which was also in two parts. What appeared to have been a renovated bathroom alongside a quite dated interior elsewhere. Mozzies and flies prevented sitting out on the dark balcony. The wooden balcony doors are old with gaps allowing mozzies into the room alongside the general noise of the busy pathway outside which leads from the bottom walking street, bars etc to the top part. Some investment in new, modern double glazing might help here, especially the noise of the guy sweeping the path at 6am every morning.

However, the room was kept very clean with a comfortable bed.

We did appreciate Koh Tao’s appeal for divers but perhaps hadn’t really considered that at times, every part of Ban’s was taken up by it, including all of the pools. If not diving, didn’t feel particularly welcome anywhere.

Breakfast - possibly up there with the worst we have had. What was offered in terms of quantity was ok, it’s just that everything was cold and tasteless. Fried eggs on a tray with nothing to keep them warm?

The bar and beach area were ok. During the day just another quiet bar but it did come alive at night with live music and a few friendly staff on hand. Nice little seats to watch sunset on the beach but we were surprised these weren’t available at other times of the day. Beach gets busy at sunset with a nice atmosphere and staff to quickly sort your drinks order.

Pools were a good size (when you could access them), but the lounger areas were continuously inhabited by lots of insects, some biting.

Ban’s appears to have just about everything including rooms, diving, shops, bar and food. Whilst we can’t comment on the diving (which does have very good separate reviews), nothing else really matched the price bracket. We perhaps expected a bit more for what we paid when compared to other locations with similar prices but were left disappointed.

Overall, we don’t want to be overly critical and appreciate some things are acceptable to others and there was nothing that led to any specific complaints but we came away thinking, so that was Koh Tao - it was ok!

We are not divers but we chose this resort because it had the option of using several pools and we were not disappointed.
The swimming pools are fantastic with comfortable sun beds, showers etc. Some are for divers only.
Good location, Nr beach and restaurants.
We had the small standard room close to the main road so we could hear traffic noise. No kettle so bring your own. Decent size balcony, good air con and hot shower.
Also some noise from neighbours but not too bad.
If you have mobility issues you may struggle as it is steep in places.

The Cleaners were very good. We didn't need room cleaning during our stay but they did change our towels when asked and they still left water every day 👍🏻

The only main problem we had was the reception Staff. They are pleasant enough but not good at dealing with the customer face to face and one at a time. On all 3 interactions with them, they are easily distracted and don't pay attention.
On check in we paid cash as there is a 3% charge for using cards. At check out they said we hadn't paid ! Of course we did as you cannot be given the key otherwise but due to them not paying attention they have not processed the payment correctly.
We were also the first people there and the last ones to get checked in, very annoying. One Lady was dealing with us ,then abruptly left us hanging to deal with something else.
We would come back here as it is a fairly good resort but please give some of the reception Staff some much needed training.

Overall this hotel is not so bad (cleanliness, staff, breakfast), but all rooms located between the beach road and Koh Tao main road are terribly noisy, with loud music playing late into the night and choirs of drunk guests lasting, sometimes, till 3 or 4 a.m.

Because of this these rooms are unsuitable for scuba divers, and I recommend to book only the rooms located between the main road and the hills, far away from the hotel's noisy beach club.

The Ban's diving center is a joke. We haven't been able to take a single dive with them. The reason is that they don't plan the dive locations in advance. The diving center only informs its guests of the daily expeditions' departure times, while the dive sites are decided at the very last minute and never communicated in advance.

Luckily in Koh Tao there is plenty of diving centers to chose from, and most of them have a schedule which is published one or two days in advance, granting access to the very best diving sites of the island.

Hi I have stayed at Bans twice, last visit was September last year. I can't recall the exact location of the family villas but looking at the pictures online I would say they are located well back from any noise. It has been very peaceful both times I have stayed. I would say, just looking at the photos, that it will be location up the hill across from the beach amongst the the other types of accomodation. There are frequent guest buggies that make life very easy getting to and from your accomodation. Both stays have been great and I highly recommend Bans. I don't have children but I am sure they would cater very well for families. Hope this helps. Marie
