I have seen a lot of people moaning about this place because of the steps. For us this does not matter and the views are so worth it at the top. I would say if you’re a bit unfit or unable to move a lot, ask for a room lower down and definitely get a balcony. It is clean, and the staff are so so friendly. Also, it is a bit further away from noisy pubs which for us was perfect. Only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because there is no pool, we knew this at the start of booking though so it is not a complaint! Defo take a look if you’re about in Phi Phi
We spent there 5 nights and Papaya Phi Phi Resort being our diving escape resort. You come to Phi Phi either for party or for the nature. The Papaya is located up the hill, a bit further from all the noise of the clubs and parties. Even though you’ll hear one or another group coming from the party at 2am or a couple having sex at 5 am, the place is one of the nicest and quietest on the island. The staff, even though not speaking too much english, was super lovely, nice, friendly and helpful. The room was clean (if it’s not, just ask for cleaning and they will do it), the A/C was working almost properly, WiFi wasn’t too strong. The breakfast was simple but good and if you need it to have it before the “breakfast time” they’ll make it for you earlier or to take away. I wouldn’t mind staining there even longer. Recommendable.…
Booked this place fairly last minute as the accommodation in Phi Phi was very booked up for the dates we were going and was generally impressed for the price we paid. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice balcony and a great view of the two bays. Lots of stairs but we got used to them and there is always someone waiting at the pier to help you carry your bags right up to your room, hotel staff are very helpful. Location is very good as you are close to the town but far enough away to not be kept awake. Ordered breakfast on the last day which is delivered to your room and very nice. I would stay here again and recommend as a good budget hotel in Phi Phi.
We stayed at Papaya for 3 nights and after reading the other reviews was really concerned about the stairs. When you get off the ferry at the port there is always someone waiting from Papaya to meet you to help to carry/wheel your bags in a trolley to the hotel and carry them up the stairs for you. The stairs are hard in the sun but they are ok and the view more than makes up for them, if you have a sea view room and the shower was good and warm. The room itself was ok, it was very basic and quite old, the bed was so so hard - after 3 nights I was ready to leave to sleep in a softer bed. The door to our balcony was really stiff and we could hear the people walking around above us really bad at night time, it was so loud. The breakfast was nice and is brought to you at a time you want between 6:30-9 (I think) you get fruit, muesli and yoghurt and a warm bread roll with orange juice and hot water for tea/coffee. I am travelling for 6 months and this hotel was over our budget and was one of the more expensive hotels we have stayed in and it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion but the view is good and the staff are really nice.…
This place is fine, it’s basic but clean enough. The steps are impressive, but as long as you are fairly fit you’ll be fine. However, I think there must have been some glitch in the booking.com matrix as we paid over £100 per room per night for a standard no frills room. I expected prices to be higher on Phi Phi but I also certainly expected a much better place for the money! Value for money for us = 0. The breakfast is nice. And definitely get a room with a sea view.
