We found it incredibly difficult to find a decent place to stay in phi phi, reviews of most of the hotels are so varied, some good and some bad.

We booked Hotel Cabana late as we read on a review of the previous hotel we had booked was very noisy due to the late night bars. Cabana was on the beach and further away from centre, but only a 2 minute walk from the pier.

Just bear in mind although it’s further away from the loud night bars, you can still hear some of the noise at night but not too much compared to the hotels closer to the main beach bars.

Firstly the view is beautiful if you have a pool beach view room (one of the selling points)

The view was beautiful from our room and the pool is lovely and big. Pool side was not too busy, you could sit and watch the boats pass in and out the bay.

However there were times we found it to be difficult communicating with the staff as they spoke very little English, but they were very friendly.

We had a deluxe double room. It was clean. The bed was a good size, but they only provided one pillow per person, although pillows were plump. Air con in the room is very good and didn’t leak. Good size balcony. The bathroom was usable but needs to be changed for a modern one, it would’ve been great 20 years ago.

The wifi was slow, once you locked your phone you had to then log in again which was inconvenient.

Breakfast is very basic really, not a massive range of food, omelettes were good though.

If you’re looking for a place with a nice view but nothing too luxury here is the place to stay. We agreed it was worth having a slightly less luxurious room to have the benefit of an amazing pool area with a great view of the bay.

I’ve stayed at Phi Phi Cabana about six times in the last 14 years and this was the weirdest stay by far. In the Covid downtime, they have done quite a bit of work on the pool, which now has been fully cleaned, and has some new tiling, i.e. neatened up from our last stay in 2017. However, there are still building materials all along the sea front, which makes things look decidedly scruffy. Lots of the hotel is currently shut down - presumably being renovated.

The pool bar used to have excellent service and do absolutely amazing Thai food. The menu has now become extremely limited with only very basic options, and the food isn’t that nice any more, forcing you to leave the hotel for lunch. The pool bar service is terrible at the moment and my wife almost got heat stroke because there were absolutely no staff to even purchase water from quite a bit of the time. Occasionally staff came around seeing if people wanted drinks – very infrequent. However, the service and food are unacceptable.

Breakfast was also not worth having - I remember it had previously been fairly reasonable.

While this hotel still has an excellent position, being next to the port, and far away from the disco’s along the beach, with probably the biggest pool, and best view in Phi Phi. I think that next time I travel to Phi Phi (and it will soon), I will be trying another alternative. There are at least 4 new hotels with more modern rooms and facilities in the last 5 years. Certainly this hotel cannot justify the price it is currently charging.

Very nice location and lovely outdoor area with pool and direct walk to the beach. You could also swim in the sea directly from the hotel, but the disadvantage is that several boats drove in here to drop off and pick up guests. It made the water a bit cloudy and the boat traffic naturally slows down. The pool was lovely and had plenty of sunbeds. The water, on the other hand, was a little too hot and not very cooling in the heat. The showers outside by the pool had a good temperature.

The breakfast was quite ok. A plus is that they make omelettes and scrambled eggs to your liking.

The rooms were quite okay. We stayed at 4301, which was a bit out of the way from the main area. It had a nice view out to sea. Air conditioning worked fine. Wifi in the room was perfectly fine, but dropped out occasionally.

The beds, on the other hand, are relatively hard. The bathroom was also unfortunately quite disgusting, with open drains. It looked unclean especially in the shower. The jets from the shower head were also painful as they were hard. We asked to change rooms because of this, but it didn't work.

All in all quite ok.

This hotel is ideal for short stays and to take advantage of its central location on the island. In fact, it is only a 2-minute walk from the port.
The rooms are a little outdated, as is the entire hotel. In general, it is a bit shabby, but for 1 or 2 nights it can be manageable.
At night the area is quite noisy as there is a disco on the beach and the noise echoes.
It has a large pool and sunbeds with a sea view and the breakfast buffet is good.
The staff is not very attentive and unprofessional. There are many aspects that could be improved.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend it because, compared to other hotels I visited in Thailand, I didn't get on well.

Old, unrestored hotel. The rooms were dirty and the bathroom was especially old and filled with mosquitoes. There were eggshells in the omelettes for breakfast and the rest of the breakfast was approximately. The worst thing is that they let tourists “visit” the pool for a lot of time during the day. They sounded and disturbed wildly. Never experienced anything like this and will definitely not come back here. The view and location is the only good thing about the hotel, which is just used as a big cash tank.

Rooms are severely dated which I could live with but it’s also quite dirty, arrived to a dirty bathmat, hair in the drain and shower floor (along with a fair bit of rust and mould) tap was so full of limescale that it just sprayed water in all directions.

Bathroom door so stiff I had to use body oil to get it moving. No instructions how to use the safe and it’s not that straight forward

The bed is like a plank of wood, it’s so hard. We had 3 nights and hardly slept. Not helped by the beach party that goes on till 3am every single night, windows are single glazed so can hear the music really loudly. Then just as you drop off the party goers arrive back yelling and screaming waking you again.

Breakfast not very good and breakfast room staff are rubbish they don’t replenish stuff once it run out. Breakfast finished at 10 we went about 8.30 and had already run out of milk and fruit and it wasn’t replenished.

Only saving grace here was we had a beautiful view.

Let's start with the three great possitves. The view by the pool and the price point (for phi phi) is reasonable.

HOWEVER, the hotel is shambolically ran.
The worst part being that without any notice, boat tours arrive for 'lunch' where 100+ passengers decend on 6 speed boats and used the pool. Their very arrogant tour operator takes photos in front of your sunbed, without any regard to the paying guests, and abused us when we challenged him.

The pool area is dirty, litter is rarely cleaned, or glasses taken away. The rooms are very dated with poor air conditioning. The breakfast is barely edible, a hard boil egg is uncooked and bread stale.

The noise from the late night bars (which continue until 3am) on the beach can make sleeping difficult, admittedly not a fault of the hotel.

The staff (expect one of the managers) do not seem to care and are extremely slow.

You could potentially stay a couple of nights, if you can cope with the above, but it's not a good hotel for a relaxing stay.

Well first of all I have to say that the location is absolutely fantastic but that’s about it.
The pool area is huge and has stunning views however the beds need replacing and the pool area needs some tlc.
The rooms were a good size and the bed comfortable enough but very very dated, the shower was just a dribble yet somehow still flooded the bathroom every time it was used.
The view from the balcony was lovely, sadly the chairs were uncomfortable and the balcony not very clean.
The gym we thought would be great as next to the pool and outside and also a good size but sadly not a single thing could be used as it was either broken/snapped or completely rusted.
Out of our 3 weeks in Thailand and many places visited/stayed this breakfast was by far the worst in fact it was absolute chaos!!
The restaurant was dirty, plates not cleared and staff just stood around, no interaction at all. Had to clear our own table and find our own clean cutlery. All of the food was cold, the only thing about edible was an omelette which took 20 minutes to make again because staff just stood around and no one seemed to know what they were doing making for a very stressful experience. It was so bad we didn’t eat there for the two following days even though we had breakfast included!
I wouldn’t return to this hotel, a shame really as with some friendly staff (for a start) and a lot of tlc it could be improved.

We stayed for two days at this hotel and it was very unpleasant. While the pool area and views are spectacular you are left with a room that is like a motel from the 90s and a bed so hard and uncomfortable you most definitely will not sleep well. On top of that the beaches of phi phi are extremely loud with music at night so unless you've ear plus a decent night's rest is off the cards. This hotel has potential and rooms need upgraded big time. Breakfast was OK and basic.

Stayed two nights. Beautiful location for the harbor and directly in the cozy town, back nice pool (but sharp stone edges) and fantastic sea views. Hotel room very bad. completely broken laminate floor, broken curtains with stains. Very outdated shower with only spray of cold water. Small TV didn't work. Breakfast room very unhygienic, and dirty with some choice (and lots of flies), cold old coffee and tea in large pots. In short, we had breakfast in the nice town. The 2 stars are for the location and town. Another hotel next time.

You don’t have to walk far - you can hear and enjoy the nightlife party in your room with the doors closed. It’s a very clean and crisp base all the way to you bed. All evening. All night. Until 03.00 in the morning. Enjoy :)

Hi, I was there on april 2016. didn't see any renovated rooms, we had some problems with the air condition in 2 rooms and be careful cornered rooms have big windows, that means a lot of sun on the windows and very hot rooms. we were on the second floor in the main building, we had the view to the pool and the beach, it was amazing.

I had the same fear from the reviews but we went ahead and stayed and I'm glad we did. it was 3 years ago now though. It was old fashioned but grand for what you need and the location is perfect.
