We visited Saii Phiphi Island Village for a vacation and we were impressed by the Saii experience. With the hotel's transfer service, getting to the hotel was a breeze from Phuket Airport. We love the comfortable villas and really enjoyed the visiting the hotel's extensive beachfront-perfect for sunrises and sunsets. The high point of the visit had to be the Marine Discovery Center where we enjoyed learning about the hotel's conservation efforts for clownfish and marine life in general. Kudos to the hotel for playing a part in protecting the marine ecosystem. We would like to give a big shout out to K. Phat at the Marine Discovery Center for the very detailed tour of the center and for taking us to the perfect spot to view the sun setting (and getting us great pictures). He definitely went above and beyond his duty to make guests like us happy and is a real asset to the resort. The reason why we didn't give 5 stars for the experience was because of the ants in our villa as well as some subpar experiences at the restaurant ie stale bread and unripe avocados. However, these are minor issues compared to the overall amazing experience we enjoyed at Saii.

Dear Karn L, Thank you very much for sharing your experiences after your recent stay with us. I am pleased that you chose the hotel transfer service from Phuket which includes the pick up from the airport, transportation to the marina by minivan and then the boat transfer to the island. How wonderful that you profited from your stay and you visited our Marine Discovery Center where our Marine Biologist, Khun Phat, is delighted to show our guests around. The sunset walking tour is the newest activity offered to the guests. Thank you for mentioning the other comments, we will make sure that those experiences are not repeated. Thank you so much for your contribution, Khun Phat looks forward to welcoming many other guests to the Marine Discovery Center. Best regards, Karin Jongman Resort Manager

Booked in with the hotel, and felt over priced for the service received. The restaurant being empty .. were not able to cater to us at all. Staff seemed not to know how to tackle a question when asked out of the box questions. I think the hotel needs a proper shake up

Dear renuk_11, Thank you khun renuk_11 for your feedback. I am very sorry that none of our staff were able to serve you. At the moment we have 200 staff and 50 casuals for the Songkran period, I can imagine that some of them were not able to answer your questions. Luckily the management team is around and has been for quite a while, they would have been pleased to assist you. Best regards, Karin Jongman Resort Manager

I visited the resort about 15 years or so back, I know things change but back then it was idyllic, one with nature, the beach was lovely. Now unfortunately it felt more like a mass tourist place with a massive gift shop, lobby area and restaurant, coffee shop and a marine center. There was a wall on the beach which ruined the whole island beach experience for me, and the part where there was no wall, you were surrounded by long tail boats. It simply got too big. We got a room on the other end of the “village” and it took us 10 minutes to walk to the main pool. The rooms were nice and spacious and kept well, nice big bathroom and porch. The food was good, breakfast was fine. Staff was friendly. The pool area was nice, good for kids.

Dear smurfee, thank you for letting us know about your experience in our hotel. I can imagine that if you compare the experience to so many years ago, it must have been quite different. The wall on the beach has to do with beach erosion unfortunately, so this is one way to slow the process down. I am pleased that you enjoyed the rooms and the food. Thank you for finishing your review with the positive, I agree the hotel is ideal for families. Best regards, Karin Jongman Resort Manager

In short, this feels more Holiday Inn/Ibis (no matter how they try to sell you into thinking it is a ‘luxury’ 5-star option, it is not). The beach is nice but not great (even though it is Phi Phi). For people who raved about this property and think I dont know what I am talking about - I’d tell you to visit the Racha off Phuket or Rayavadee in Krabi then compare it again a the Racha has perfectly clear waters and fine white powdery sand and if room rates at Racha are only 30-40% more than Saii, do yourself a huge favor and go there instead. And you will get way better service there. Front service at Saii, at the reception and restaurant entry zone, are mostly clueless that sometimes I think I know what to do more than them - and I’m horrid at this level of service even before travel has reopen. Gosh. But that said, inside the restaurant, some staffs are also amazing and proactive, but only a few are gems. Housekeeping staff are also wonderful, and so are some of the staffs in blue polos. First brush with bad service was during check-in. Once I arrived at the hotel, I was ushered to the reception area where no one updated me what to do - do I go to the counter and hand over my passport or sit at the chairs and someone will collect it? At Rayavadee and Racha, staffs are all on deck to guide you and take your passport - here at Saii, there are alot of commotion among guests (afterall, there were 30 plus guests alighting the boat) and while some made a beeline for the reception counters, others sat around - while no staff come around to give any updates. This reminded me of times during a flight delay and you just hang around the gate and airline staffs don’t give you any updates - this is exactly how it felt like during check-in. Highly organized indeed. After sitting for awhile, I saw a staff taking passports from some guests, and I finally managed to hand my passport over, but the staff seems shocked i passed her my passport and didn’t tell me what to do after that, and I had to ask her if she wanted me to wait at the reception or go back to my seat and she’ll get me after she’s done with all the paperwork. I love how I, as the guest, have to keep asking the staff what I needed to do. Then, another staff came with all the paperwork for me to sign, and fill in an information sheet - Weird that even though I’ve entered everything when I booked my room online on the hotel website, the paper had nothing filled up (not even my email adrdress where I managed to received my confirmation email from hotel) and I had to manually fill everything in. Then, with the sprawling resort size, they informed me to download an app and all information will be able to be accessed from there. I saw some of the guests having been passed a print out map but thought maybe the staff will hand in to me when he buggy ride me to my room, but no. He only told me where breakfast will be served, and sent me to my room. I had to come back to the reception to ask for a map and check with them what places are open for lunch and dinner because none of this information was given to me. The map on the Handigo app was blurry and jot high res even when I zoomed in. check with them at facilities are available at this hotel. Throughout the check-in to buggy ride to my room, no information on resort facilities were given - i didn’t even know there are two pools at this hotel and what resort activities are until i ask them at the recep. at the restaurant during breakfast the next morning, a staff stood at the entry area and look at me - Realizing that I probably need to tell her my room number which is common practice (as i do have common sense), I just said my number and she just say ok, and then just continue standing there. I was at a loss because I don’t know if I will be shown a table or it’s free sitting. I ask her if it’s free seating and she seems surprised that I can talk, then went on to say yes. I have lost track on how many times I had gotten “great service” here in less than 24 hours. Next, when i was at the sun lounger outside my suite catching the sun, a staff came in his buggy then came to me and spoke some thai - i said i dont speak thai in a soft awkward manner and he went ‘ahhh’ then walk away. I really love how staffs at this hotel can make me baffled constantly with their nonchalantness. Turns out he was at the wrong suite - next door’s suite asked for a buggy and not me after i looked at the next suite. Though luckily, there are also genuinely nice people so not all hope’s lost. A staff accidentally cleared my drinks at breakfast and when i came back and she saw my clueless face from afar, she was so apologetic came to say sorry and went her way to make another new cup of coffee for me. This nice staff was the few highlights that gave me hope that this hotel has some saving grace. Room-wise, I was initially booked in a Deluxe Garden view room, and found the layout rustic. However the location of the room is far from everything and you will need a buggy or a 10 to 15 minutes walk to get to the reception and beach - more if you wanna get to the pools . I also realize that the room had a lot of mosquitoes as it is in a densely green area. I decided to inquire if i can change to a beachfront deluxe suite after a walk on the beach, and saw some nice suites with direct access to the beach. The beachfront suites are definitely better with the non-obstructed sea views and just steps from the beach - and also because frankly, I am so disappointed with the staff and service that i really needed to look at a nice view to not spoil my holiday mood (joking). The bedding is on the firm side and the pillows are very fluffy. The design and layout feels very Holiday Inn with simple design that are practical, including a daybed sofa. Toiletries provided are coconut scented, with an overly sweet overtone. There is also a corner in the gift shop that you can switch the default coconut scent to others (i read this after checking in on some reviews as this was also not stated by any hotel staff). The coconut scent was a tad too sweet and i felt like I am coating myself with tropical candy. The other three scents are heaps more pleasant with cedarwood, lavender, or peppermint scents. In the beachfront deluxe suite, there was a coffee machine (lacking in the garden room) and a kettle. Notable differences from the garden room includes more amenities such as coffee and even more types of teas available in the beachfront suite. The suite also has a bathtub and outdoor shower separated by a glass door next to the shower stall - the garden view rooms only has a shower stall. The layout of the beachfront suit means that the bad directly faces the door that opens up to wide and expansive sea views and as such, the tv console is lying on the console perpendicular to the bed. And the tv has two stands meaning you cant tilt it to face the bed at any angle so if you wanna watch tv, then the daybed opposite the tv is the default sitting area.Wi-Fi is also available throughout the hotel with no login needed, and service is relatively fast. To conclude, this hotel is definitely not for me, as I will rather spend my money at The Racha or Rayavadee. Its good to have tried (so I can tell everyone to not come here) , and if you wanna explore the Phi Phi islands using this hotel as a base, you can also do that from Krabi or Phuket like how I did it on my previous trips. Service is important at a hotel and I just cannot deal with non proactive and clueless hotel staff that makes me annoyed while on a holiday. Even though I like the beachfront suites, those at the Pimalai in Koh Lanta are also perfectly primed with a great view (granted sand and waters there are not as nice). My conclusion is that despite what this hotel claims to be offering, you can get other hotels with better beach, better water and WAY better service in Thailand. Saii is just milking to the fame of Phi Phi - and to be honest, the Racha has way better waters and sand, and better service! I have two more nights at Saii at time of posting and all the above happened in less than 24 hours - i am totally excited to see how my next 48 hours here will be.

Dear IGHotelsReview, Thank you so much for letting us know about your disappointing arrival experience to our resort. I am very sorry to read what you experienced and I apologize for the inconveniences. When I came to the end of your detailed review, I saw that you are still staying with us. If possible, iI would appreciate to meet so that I can personally apologize to you. In the reception area, we have adapted our check-in methods to make them faster during the Songkran period, as we have a lot of guests arriving to the resort on a daily basis. I am a bit lost about how none of the staff members would have guided you from the boat to the temperature check, to the Snap Snack Box, to the welcome drink, and then to the check-in counter. I am pleased that you were able to upgrade from a Deluxe Garden room to a Beachfront junior suite, these rooms are very pleasant and it is nice to wake up with the sea in front of you. Nice of you to also mention some of the great people we have working with us, a lot of them are doing their best every day again to make the guest happy. I am pleased to receive your feedback as it gives us the chance to rediscuss our procedures and to communicate better with the guest. Best regards, Karin Jongman Resort Manager
