Hi there, we stay at Rung Arun every year, it's about 20 minutes in a taxi to Haad Rin which is where the full moon party is held. The taxi is a songthaew which is a basically pickup truck with bench seats in the back. They charge a fixed 100 baht which is about £2.50 to most places in Phangan. The island gets quite busy for full moon, but a couple of days later it's really quiet again. I definitely recommend the Rung Arun, we have been going for years. It's always been the same lovely staff and owners and is really safe- but then we've never felt unsafe anywhere on the island. Where ever you end up I'm sure you'll have a great time in Phangan.
