Detailed Reviews
I’m struggling to understand the negative comments about this beach restaurant! During our stay at the Layana it was our lunch place of choice and, without exception, we received a warm and friendly welcome from Luke and Am each day. I firmly believe that you get back what you give out in life so some of the reviewers who complain of poor or unfriendly service probably attract it through their own behaviour. We really enjoyed our daily chat with Luke and Am, the former having a daily joke of “long time no see”!
There are plenty of shady tables with comfy cushions. We usually opted for a noodle dish and all were delicious, freshly cooked and nicely presented. Washed down with a chilled beer what more could you want? We ate dinner here on our first night but then switched to Lym’s next door as the wine by the bottle was much more reasonably priced. Hence we compensated by coming here every day for lunch.

Beautiful location but seriously overpriced and shabby and unsafe bungalows.
Lovely avenue of fir trees leading to a shady beach.
Great service and attention from Ahmed who is an absolute asset to the owner who is less amenable.
The resort touts itself as “ eco” and if shabby bungalows with nails sticking out everywhere on areas where you walk , broken bamboo pieces everywhere, holes in mosquito nets. Dirty curtains. Disgusting mattresses ( don’t pull off your sheet !) literally at one point my foot went through the bamboo floor. At the entrance from the road you would think you were arriving at a prison with concrete posts , barbed wire and a rusty metal gate 😆
60 euro a night ! And breakfast wasn’t included .
The problem is that during high season they can get away with it.
The front of the property almost 😅 n the beach is littered with scooters , pick up trucks so it’s constantly noisy .

A resort in a very quiet area. Kind of like Robinson Crusoe with air conditioning and a fridge. Right on the beach and your own loungers. The beds are just mattresses, a little raised but those with bad backs should think twice about booking them. The cleaning left a little to be desired. The toilet wasn't cleaned for a week. Otherwise OK. Very wild, a monitor lizard might come by.

This property is neither eco (little plastic bottles provided daily, they still sell elephant rides!, etc.) nor a resort. Few bamboo huts along a dusty dirt road in the pine forest near the beach, with an above-ground pool, terrible restaurant and a massage hut. Their customer service is a chapter of its own - attitude of staff is a disaster. All they want is squeeze more money out of guests. The only thing good about this place is a location on the beach - but there are many other places that are so much nicer also on the beach for the same money even on Lanta island. Avoid this 'resort'!

The first meal I had here at the beach restaurant was a Pad Thai and it was really good. So our family came back again for lunch the next day even though we waited ages for the food to come. This time the Pad Thai was the worst I ever had; There were no bean sprouts, (so they just put shredded cabbage instead), no cucumber, no egg and it was drowned in fish sauce. It was total slop, and i couldn't eat it, but they did nothing about it. Even though I hardly ate anything they still charged me. Also, we waited over an hour to get our food. I would recommend this place for drinks but not for food. There seems to be only one person working in the kitchen who hasn't got a clue.

We came here for lunch one of our days in a koh Lanta and had a lovely massaman shrimp curry although they had ran out of any chocolate ice cream to make any of the shakes they had on the menu which they decided to tell us about 15 mins after we’d ordered them. Anyway we came back again because we enjoyed the curry and ordered shrimp massaman - about 40 mins after we had ordered came to tell us they had hardly any shrimp left we said ok fine more potato will do. Very hungry at this point! We sat for over an hour waiting for lunch the curries taste of nothing this day! And on top to make up for the missing shrimp - loads of rank lettuce. Very disappointing. Wouldn’t bother if you want a quicker lunch there’s plenty more cool places further up!

We booked initially the bungalow (more expensive) but upon arrival we saw it was too hot and smelled very strong like plastic. We took a normal bungalow however no refund or solution was offered to us. The breakfast is expensive and mediocre (250 baht per person) the bungalows are in terrible shape, we had to look out our feet in order not to get cut by the spikes of the old bamboo. Very uncomfortable to move inside the bungalow. Mattress and mosquito net need urgent renovation as well. Room was poorly cleaned and they literally picked up the towels from the floor and hanged them back. Had to ask for toilet paper refill everyday. We are very happy to leave to another place today.

We're just selling you a dream, but we're selling it to you dearly! I am giving this opinion following a new trip to the island of Koh Chang and I can say that they ripped us off in this hotel in February 2023. Very expensive for services that are absolutely not up to par. Exterior maintenance non-existent, dilapidated room, (my daughter was injured with protruding spikes) work in progress during our stay until 10 p.m. in the evening... little comfort and hygiene for a prohibitive price. Swimming pool not available. The only luxury is to have the sea within reach. Everything else is not up to par at all.
