My family, including two toddlers, recently spent two weeks at Southern Lanta, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. We opted for the sunset villa, which was definitely worth the extra expense compared to the family bungalows we initially considered. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the rooms were consistently clean (kudos to the diligent cleaners), and the pools provided ample entertainment for the kids. The proximity to the excellent beach, just a stone's throw away, was a definite highlight. Moreover, the location was ideal, with numerous restaurants within walking distance offering delicious food (with the exception of the pizza).
A special mention goes to the staff who went above and beyond when we realized we had booked the wrong dates. Despite being fully booked, they managed to accommodate us, which we greatly appreciated. The atmosphere at Southern Lanta was perfect for families like ours, and we had the pleasure of meeting and befriending many other like-minded families. I would highly recommend this place to families with young children, although those without kids or with older children MIGHT want to consider their options.
However, for this to be a perfect rating from me, there is one area that could use improvement - the gym. The facilities were subpar. The treadmills were inadequate for anyone weighing over 75kg and wanting to exceed 9 km/h, and the overall equipment quality left much to be desired. Additionally, the air conditioning in the gym was ineffective, making workouts uncomfortable. With some limited investments and minor effort, the gym could be significantly improved.
Despite these minor flaws, our stay at Southern Lanta was overwhelmingly positive, and we would gladly return in the future (at least for as long as our kids are young).

Arrived on Koh Lanta with our private taxi (Mun) straight to the resort. The site is very large with villas where there are many permanent residences. Especially families from Scandinavia. There is also a Swedish school on the grounds. Many shops and restaurants on the main road. Conveniently within walking distance is a 7/11 with everything the tourist needs. Laundry across the road 60 baht for 1kg of laundry. Medical center is next door. At the reception we were welcomed with a glass of juice. Check-in went smoothly. The bungalows were basic but clean. Large double bed, (no rock hard beds anyway) enough space for 2 suitcases, safe, cupboard with hanging space and a bathroom with toilet and large shower, shampoo, conditioner and washing lotion. Fridge with water, enough towels. We don't need more. At the bungalow (in a beautifully maintained garden) there is a wooden terrace with two large chairs. Opening door. If you place the chairs differently, the door will no longer open, so leave them alone. In the early morning you can hear the birds and the call to prayer from the surrounding mosque. The resort has a beautiful swimming pool. With chairs that were actually more comfortable than the beds. You can also get a massage for a reasonable price. The breakfast is fine, sufficient selection for everyone. Western oriented. There is a decent restaurant at the resort on the beach side where you can eat reasonably well. Barbecues are regularly organized there with live music. Unfortunately, there are no beds or umbrellas on the beach. A fantastic view from left to right. All kinds of cozy bars and restaurants on the beach. The sea water was wonderful, the sunset unsurpassed. We had a great time. If we go back to Koh Lanta, we will definitely go back to Southern Lanta.

We had booked to stay at this resort with our family, as a more luxurious treat in the middle of our 3 week holiday. When booking online we chosen bungalows which looked to have a modern feel, when arriving we were not so pleased as the bungalows looked nothing like what we asked for. (Still probably nice to some people but not what we wanted) … i’d say we were probably at the resort for around half an hour before asking the staff on reception to upgrade us to the bungalows closer to the beach which looked to be the modern ones we thought we would be assigned. Woman on the desk was very helpful we were charged an extra 2200 baht per night to stay in newer bungalows which felt a lot more clean and renewed in comparison (will insert a picture of both rooms)
Apart from this our holiday was really nice & breakfast was average but still lovely at the hotel.
On best beach in ko lanta. If you hate busy touristy beaches and are looking for something abit more remote this is the place for you! Great beach bar but a little more pricey to the other bars further down the beach.
There is a Pharmacy, small shop, many bars and restaurants within walking distance. ‘The Majestic Bar’ about a 7 minute walk to the left of the beach was the best we visited. Great cocktails & view for sunset. Moped rental within walking distance 250 per day.
Overall brilliant visit to ko lanta would definitely go back

We had booked a standard garden view bungalow but immediately felt that it was not what we wanted. We lacked reading lights above the beds, there was very little space to put away the suitcases and the pressure in the shower was non-existent. Want to point out that there was nothing wrong with this type of bungalow, but we felt we wanted something a little better. We therefore chose to upgrade to a deluxe bungalow and we did NOT regret it! What a nice room! Big, lots of storage space, very fresh bathroom and a good shower, TV that we could watch Netflix on, comfortable beds, good reading lights... everything was great! We were so happy with the deluxe bungalow. For residents in these bungalows there was also a separate infinity pool which was very nice! The breakfast was good, quite simple but we thought it was excellent. The restaurant on the beach was perfectly fine, but we thought that you could eat both cheaper and better in other places around. We would definitely go back to Southern Lanta! Very nice and nice, helpful staff!

Beach bar Accommodating waiters who are excellent at reviewing the menu card. No additional sales, apart from the fact that rice costs extra for the dishes.
We ate at the stand, at sunset - can be recommended. The food is good and you can get anything from fish, burgers, pizza, Thai dishes - so there should be something for everyone.

Great hotel for families, lots of it children; especially Swedish and German families. They are clearly having fun in the pool. It is less suitable for a couple looking for peace and quiet. 4 evenings a week loud entertainment (live music) from here or the neighbors, clearly audible in your room. Staff is friendly and helpful. Some rooms are old and not yet renovated. The new rooms are beautiful.

Hotel is perfect and on the beach front with restaurants and bars within walking distance. Hotel was always clean and staff very friendly. The restaurant is great with good food. We tried many other places to eat but but often came back to the hotel restaurant as the food is well balanced and also have options if you get tired of eating rice every day. A special thanks to the food &beverage manager Nun, that seemed to be working 24/7 and always with a smile on his face, leading the staff. Without him the place wouldn’t be the same. We booked this resort as it said there is a gym but unfortunately the machines are old an a few were broken so that was a disappointment.

Booked for a family of 5 for 3 nights. We got one of the large 2 bedroom villas with 2 bathrooms. Rooms we’re quite dated in terms but practical and beds weee quite comfortable. Big bath room but shower pressure non existing but plenty of hot water as it looked to me to be an instant hot water system. Overall rooms were good but could do with a more modern look. Resort was situated right on the beach which was nice and plenty of restaurants within short walk. The resorts restaurant was good we only had lunch there. The pool could have done with an uplift. Quite a small pool and it had to much chemicals in it, sun longes were usually all taken early by people putting towels on them at the crack of dawn. The lounge chairs were all cheap plastic ones and very uncomfortable. Breakfast was not great average at best. Staff were friendly english skills could have been better with front desk staff and they could have better equipped to help with organizing transfers from the hotel.

Our seventh time in Lanta. Klong Dao beach is amazing(!) and Lanta is one of our favourite places on the globe. First stay at this hotel. Fairly large hotel for being at Klong Dao beach. Directly at the beach as most hotels here. Nice pool area but can get a little crowded during the day. Pool quite heavily chlorined which created some redeyes. On the other hand that means it should be safe to bathe in. We stayed in a roomy family villa. Nice and clean rooms. Very nice and accomodating personnel. Restaurant was good in the evening. Only negative which lowers the grade from 4 to 3 was the breakfast. We would have liked a better choice of fresh juice, better bread and free cheese (or higher quality cheese since we had to pay for it). Apart from this we liked our stay at Southern and can absolutely recommend it.

I’m not sure about the rainy season, I think they are doing mostly remodeling, etc. during that time, but I believe they are open. The pools are great!
Lunch wouldn’t be my choice, there are many small places to eat all around.
Burgers are best at the Fat Monkey, pizza is down the road on the opposite side. Very good, wood burning oven.
There are more places to choose from in the Ko Lanta area.
