We stayed here for ten days and were broadly satisfied, apart from a strange experience I had with the owner.

The Good:

It's an excellent location, on a beautiful beach and within walking distance of lots of restaurants and bars. The 'polynesian' beach bar on the seafront is great for breakfast and sundowners, and the hotel also has its own little area of beachfront.

There is swimming pool too, which was clean and never crowded. Most of the guests were Swedes, who are very polite and pleasant holidaymakers.

The grounds and gardens were beautiful (though this did mean there are lots of mosquitoes so wear lots of repellent). We also had a lovely welcome and great service from reception ( usually staffed by really nice Thai women and also the pleasant and friendly female owner)

The not so good:

The rooms are very basic. They are concrete huts with tin roofs and had very little in the way of facilities or storage/wardrobe space. They were also badly aged, with mismatched tiles and some poor efforts at maintenance. Ac was good though.

I'm not sure if the cleaners did much, for example the ashtray on the balcony was only ever emptied and not ever rinsed out. The bathroom was very haphazardly cleaned and they didn't even make the bed, just left a folded sheet at the bottom of it.

The strange:

The male owner was a strange guy. I never saw him smile once, and he would move from the path to avoid guests so he didn't have to acknowledge them.

One night, we had left the beach bar at around 10pm, not late. I have recently had a small operation which makes going to the toilet difficult. This wasn't helped by getting an upset stomach in Thailand. I sent my wife back to our room and went into the public toilet right near the swimming pool because I don't like leaving dirty toilet paper in the bin in our hot bathroom overnight.

I was in there about 15 minutes for the reasons described above. When I came out, the owner was waiting and he shouted "you don't use the toilet, why do you use the toilet?". Quite embarrassed, I said I didn't know that I shouldn't have, to which he sarcastically said "do you want me to build a wall in the door?".

For some reason, I kept apologising for using the open public toilet in the resort we were paying to stay in, but he wasn't listening. "I thought you were dead" , "I thought you were shooting up drugs and had died" (what sort of place is this?)

Anyway, I apologised again (which I'm quite angry about) but he was still ranting on. The Thai security guard who had since appeared was really embarrassed by the whole thing, and he patted me on the back and said 'it's ok, goodnight', but the owner just stalked off muttering.

I'm really not sure what that was all about, but he never apologised, smiled or on any way acknowledged me next time he saw me, or ever.

So overall, good budget accommodation, nice guests, great location, could do with a bit of updating.

We probably wouldn't go back (nothing to do with the owner, but we saw some other places nearby who looked to have slightly nicer rooms)

Beautiful 4 star type resort located perfectly on Long Beach. Owners have built and maintained this facility for 20 years. Forty bungalows are all thoughtfully appointed and maintained by a dedicated staff. The on site restaurant does well and has a great view of the beach and ocean. Resort was quiet with no families while I was there for 2 weeks.

We stayed 2 nights in Lanta Island resort. Our room was OK, clean and no mosquitos or gekkos inside. Location is great. The hotel is on the beach and the bungalows are in "garden". Pool is ok.
Saladan villege and harbiur are both just near by.
Rent a moto/scooter and just ride around. In south views are awesome, national park etc.
Koh Lanta is a paradise!

We booked 3 beach bungalows on Lanta Island Resort and payed for it from home. When we arrived we get 3 different bungalows, two whithout refrigerator and not nearest the beach, they say that all bungalows are beach bungalows!! even 8 rows up from the beach!!it was no minibar at all, no e-mail sevice. We have to go to te reception every day (12 days) and ask for towels, one day we don´t get any towels at all.The pool was full of seagrass.

Don't be fooled by their internet site. It has nothing to do with the trouth.
I have stayed in many hotels in Thailand and many of them have been budget hotels but I have almost never stayed in a hotel as bad as this one, and when I have, I have paid almost nothing for the rooms.
What is wrong with this place, you ask:

1 The stone bungalows are small, dark and worn down as everything else in the hotel.

2 The beds are actully made from plywood with a very thin matress on top.

3 The A/C has a sound that make the fillings in your teeth come loose.

4 The food in the restaurant is not cheap and absolutely tasteless.

5 The pool - yes they have a pool - was so dirty and slippery that you could hardly stand up in it without falling over.

6 The managers are a couple from eastern europe:
The man looks like he is a member of Hells Angels and has the same manners as one.
The woman is in her fifties and tries unsuccessfully to look like Britney Spears and has the same attitude towards her customers as her husband.

We stayed there one sleepless night and then moved 100 meters to Lanta Villa and had a very nice holiday there for the same price per night.

DO NOT STAY THERE! You can get much better almost anywhere else for the same money!

Very disappointing hotel. The resort & grounds looked like it could have been nice years ago but it has not been maintained at all. The bungalows are shabby & old, the beds are lumpy, the sheets were worn out & stained and when we asked the staff to change them, they wouldn't. The towels were dirty and we had to pay if we wanted beach towels. The location is somewhat close to town (about a 1/2 hour walk). The staff was horrible - very unfriendly. The place reminded us of a horror movie. We checked out of the hotel after the 1st night, even though we were prepaid for 3 nights. We moved to the Amantra resort on the south side of the island which was pure luxury!!

I stayed 3 nights with my girlfriend and I am glad we found another place which was cheaper and 10 times better than this place.
First the owner shout to us from 10 meters of distance, instead of talking to us. He is lucky of have friendly staff, but was so disappointed for us to know the owner was rude, arrogant and unfriendly that we try to avoid to stay much in the place.
Everything in there is more expensive, it was in cleaning process so we got wake up every morning with noise of machines and cars that access the beach from the pathway, which pathway the owner shout again at us because we parked the motorcycle we rented in front of our rooms, but was no signs saying and we constantly see motorcycle come through, but apparently only locals or staff can do it...... Customers NOT!

We find a place called Blue Andaman, which we hanging out there every night, the staff if over friendly, The owner in reception is always up to give u a bit of discount and u also can rent motorcycle with them for your staying and get discount as well.
Food in the restaurant and bar in great and completely opposite of a sad place we stayed called LAnta Island reort

We went to Ko Lanta because we wanted some quiet beach time. The resort we stayed was very nice and not too expensive. The Hotel staff was helpful and spoke good english ( some even better than me ).

The resort is directly located at the beach, and walking from the farest room would take maximum of 1 minute. The rooms are nice roomy with airconditioning and private toilet and shower.

The resort has an tailor, diving center and a massage salon right on the beach. And the beach beds are also free.

Just minutes away from Klong Dao beach for beach bummers and Andaman Dive Adventure for divers. Saladan market is just minutes away by bike/tuk tuk, and there's plenty of restaurants and roadside stalls nearby. The room's pretty cosy, a nice place to just unwind after spending a day out at the beach, diving or sight-seeing...Gardens around the resort is simply beautiful. Not forgetting the staffs, they're friendly and really helpful. Would definitely stay here again...
