Lovely small adults only hotel (15 rooms), beautiful pool, great breakfast, nice little touches of welcome drink and small waffle delivered to room on arrival. Best of all is the amazing sunset views, so good that I even proposed to my girlfriend on our balcony! Room 301 has fantastic views but all rooms should have. Beach, 7-11, few restaurants and bars all a few minutes walk away. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay here again on return to Ko Lanta.
Lovely views from the pool area, out to sea, great to watch the sun go down with a cocktail at happy hour. Pity we could not watch that from our room balcony on the second floor because of the tree in front, this needs, pruning back. The manager was around a lot so I made this suggestion to him. Noisy air conditioner in the room, staff looked at it but made no difference, I learned to live with it switching it off in the night. They are building next door, whilst the noise did not disturb us too much, what did annoy me is the building rubbish the workers were throwing down the cliff to the sea, we as tourists have to pay 10 baht each environmental tax to keep the island clean! Seems the islanders need to learn to do the same. Overall lovely hotel, needs a little TLC in places. The staff although very professional, seem to lack a sense,of happiness in their work, not many genuine smiley faces that we had experienced in other Thai hotels. Breakfast was lovely, good food. Did not have dinner here as expensive, tables put out at night but no one ate there, lots of nice restaurants a lot cheaper nearby. Watch out for the monkeys, they’ll steal you crisps and toast in the breakfast area first chance they get, they are soo quick haha. Nice to watch them play. Would definitely stay again, but ask for a room on third floor.…
The owner, Eric, and staff at the Houben were very kind and helpful. I will stay here again just to chat with Eric and the staff. They were very accommodating. The view at the Houben is amazing. Situated in the top of a cliff there is no beachfront but this is easily compensated for by the sunsets. Cocktails are delicious and the pool is a perfect place for relaxing. It is an adults only resort so there is plenty of peace and quiet to be had. One warning, there are some cheeky monkeys that come around now and again. They’re quite clever and like to help themselves to unattended food. They added to the whole experience of staying in luxury yet still fitting into the natural environment. We loved them.
I stayed at the Houben Hotel (adults only) in February. The property is small and so beautiful, surrounded by greenery. I don't think I've ever been somewhere that I made a point to watch the sunset over the ocean every day of my stay: bliss! The infinity pool is lovely, the room was modern and clean, and there is actually enough seating outside for everyone staying. It is so private that sometimes it felt like I was at my own luxury home. There was a change in ownership a couple of months ago, but the long-time staff have done an incredible job at keeping things consistent and running smoothly. The new owner is very friendly and you can tell he is dedicated to his guests too. The food in the restaurant was excellent too. Top notch place all around!
We loved our short stay at The Houben hotel. The room was clean and beautiful, hotel staff was very kind and accommodating and the pool area is pretty incredible. Sunset happy hour was a daily highlight. The food from the restaurant (we did both breakfast and dinner there) was some of the best that we had while in Thailand and the morning massage we booked was top-notch. We had an amazing stay! Would definitely recommend this spot!
