Spend 3 nights at The Houben with my Partner. Staff were very friendly and speak very good english. Owner Eric specially prepared breakfast for us as we need to depart at 520am to catch our flight. Room have full seaview and able to catch sunset. Very good bathtub with Jacuzzi, which is able to fit my partner and me. Owner also assign to arrange transportation to and fro airport. Ask the staff for tips on attractions around the islands and you can skip going to tour agency for help. Prepare in advance bathbomb ;)

Stayed in Koh Lanta for 10+ days, moved around different hotels, the Houben has the best room conditions with unbeatable sea view, which make the stay enjoyable 24/7 and every dollar paid for the room well spent. Renovation is mainly white, so it is easy to see how clean it is. Spacious room with a huge bed, good quality furniture, large in-suite hot bath/jacuzzi, floor-to-ceiling windows facing the prefect sunset sea view, plus very friendly staff, nice pool, good restaurant all exceeded our expectation. Most other hotels that have a sea view require you go out on the beach to see it. But it it is always hot during the day time and full of mosquitos during the night, so you end up only enjoy the view for a very short time and most of the day staying in poorly lighted small room, or you have to pay much more to get a sea view room. While every room in the Houben is a sea view room. Thanks to the fact that the Houben is on the hill top and it is modern hotel, it had stronger shower power. Another lesson learned--hotels located closer to the busier district also have at least twice as many bugs than the Houben which is located in the quieter part of the island.

Amazing sea view and luxurious bedrooms in a small but charming resort. Never seen as many smiles from Koh Lanta as in that hotel. The manager was particularly sensitive to make his customers happy. We had the top floor room with higher ceiling! Totally worth it! Private balcony overlooking sea creating lifetime memories.

Lovely boutique hotel with great staff, good food, gorgeous sea view and the best sunsets on the island. The architecture is well done and rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Several good restaurants within close walking distance. Highly recommend.

Myself and my husband came down to Koh Lanta for a bit of business and to meet up with friends as we live in Ao Nang, Krabi. We enjoyed the peace and quite of the Houben hotel, we especially enjoyed the baths, a rarity living in Thailand. As during this Covid spell a few rooms were taken, we had the pool mainly to ourselves and the big jacuzzi overlooking the sea to Koh Haa Island, breakfast was good quality and the staff were lovely, the rooms are super big, all with fantastic views. Cheeky monkeys come down from the hills to take a look at you and are cute to watch from a distanced, we met the manager Eric and he could not do enough for you, we will be back. Thank you

Lovely small adults only hotel (15 rooms), beautiful pool, great breakfast, nice little touches of welcome drink and small waffle delivered to room on arrival. Best of all is the amazing sunset views, so good that I even proposed to my girlfriend on our balcony! Room 301 has fantastic views but all rooms should have. Beach, 7-11, few restaurants and bars all a few minutes walk away. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay here again on return to Ko Lanta.

Lovely views from the pool area, out to sea, great to watch the sun go down with a cocktail at happy hour. Pity we could not watch that from our room balcony on the second floor because of the tree in front, this needs, pruning back. The manager was around a lot so I made this suggestion to him. Noisy air conditioner in the room, staff looked at it but made no difference, I learned to live with it switching it off in the night. They are building next door, whilst the noise did not disturb us too much, what did annoy me is the building rubbish the workers were throwing down the cliff to the sea, we as tourists have to pay 10 baht each environmental tax to keep the island clean! Seems the islanders need to learn to do the same. Overall lovely hotel, needs a little TLC in places. The staff although very professional, seem to lack a sense,of happiness in their work, not many genuine smiley faces that we had experienced in other Thai hotels. Breakfast was lovely, good food. Did not have dinner here as expensive, tables put out at night but no one ate there, lots of nice restaurants a lot cheaper nearby. Watch out for the monkeys, they’ll steal you crisps and toast in the breakfast area first chance they get, they are soo quick haha. Nice to watch them play. Would definitely stay again, but ask for a room on third floor.

Dear guest, Thank you for your staying with us, and high rating even through we still have a lot need to be improved. We took over this hotel in middle of Dec, no enough time to renew for this high season. We will upgrade the hotel facility but keep the style of the hotel for the new season this year. I remember your suggestion about the tree, we will prune it. Even consider to change a shorter one. And we will improve the menu as well, hope next time you can try the food in our restaurant. Many guests told me it is delicious. There are two important points, I need to thank you here: 1. about the neighbor who threw the rubbish to the ocean, I was not at hotel on that day. When I got the video recorded by our lovely guests, we contacted with local government immediately to stop them. Everyone has a responsibility to protect this beautiful island, which is the reason why we are here and love this island. I have gone down the cliff with my staffs to clear the trash there, and I found the way to the down bay, it is also very beautiful rocks and caves, I hope I have the chance to show you the way there. 2. Thank you for remind me to keep staffs enjoy their job, I will try to find a solution. Because I believe the staffs are the real treasure of this hotel. Thank you again, you are welcome to back with us again. Eric

The owner, Eric, and staff at the Houben were very kind and helpful. I will stay here again just to chat with Eric and the staff. They were very accommodating. The view at the Houben is amazing. Situated in the top of a cliff there is no beachfront but this is easily compensated for by the sunsets. Cocktails are delicious and the pool is a perfect place for relaxing. It is an adults only resort so there is plenty of peace and quiet to be had. One warning, there are some cheeky monkeys that come around now and again. They’re quite clever and like to help themselves to unattended food. They added to the whole experience of staying in luxury yet still fitting into the natural environment. We loved them.

Dear Eric, First of all, this review is not posted by myself : ) Thank you very much for staying with us and I also enjoy chatting with guests from different countries and cultures. I really have a headache about the cheeky moneys, but I won't hurt them, even sometimes they bring the troubles to us. But they are he originals owners for this island, my staffs will also help to keep them away with our guests. And I just found the safe way to go down the cliff, when the tide recedes, there is a cave can be passed to reach the directly under the cliff. The sunset view is different, but also beautiful. Pls back to us, I will show you the way. Chatting again in the sunset, Eric

I stayed at the Houben Hotel (adults only) in February. The property is small and so beautiful, surrounded by greenery. I don't think I've ever been somewhere that I made a point to watch the sunset over the ocean every day of my stay: bliss! The infinity pool is lovely, the room was modern and clean, and there is actually enough seating outside for everyone staying. It is so private that sometimes it felt like I was at my own luxury home. There was a change in ownership a couple of months ago, but the long-time staff have done an incredible job at keeping things consistent and running smoothly. The new owner is very friendly and you can tell he is dedicated to his guests too. The food in the restaurant was excellent too. Top notch place all around!

Dear guest, Thank you for your staying with us, the small boutique hotel, and high rating. I am very grateful to the previous owner for creating this hotel and keeping it unique, lucky I also keep all lovely and hardworking staffs, they are also the most valuable parts of the hotel for me. We will upgrade hotel this season BUT keep the characteristics. One thing I can't change is the stunning sunset. I will never get bored watching the sunset in front the cliff, it is so beautiful and ever changing, different every day. Are you jealous of me? ;) pls back to us.;) Eric
