Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Sometimes you are lucky enough to find a hotel offering peaceful and beautiful surroundings without any hassle of noise or tons of people. The LaLaanta hideaway is one of these gems.
The closest supermarket is 1km off, and the hotel area is surrounded by national park. The beach is stunning, and we had the pleasure to enjoy few sunsets during our short stay.
As the hotel is at the south peak of Koh Lanta, you need a taxi from the Krabi airport. Just book it with the hotel, they have own taxi service for this. Prepare for 2.5h drive.
The rooms are basic, but really nice and close to the beach. Prepare yourself for bungalow type of stay with proper air conditioning.
The area has 2 small pools with the sunbeds, but we enjoyed the beach, our hotel having the only sunbeds at the beach!
Staff & services
The staff is very friendly, and they help you with everything. Activies are very limited, but you must remember this is a place to relax! Grab a book, enjoy the amazing atmosphere and just chill. You can get a massage (recommended), paddle, play ball or swing; those are the activities available.
Food
The menu is quite wide, but this time we checked out the Thai menu only. I recommend red or green curry dishes. The breakfast is beyond enough (included).

This is a relative small resort. The resort consists of around 20 bungalows in the forest. Bungalows are comfortable and rather spacious. There is a nice swimming pool with sunbeds and views of the sea. The restaurant is located right on the beach. The beach is beautiful and quiet as this is the only hotel located at this beach. You can swim in the sea at low tide and high tide (unlike some beaches that have many rocks). We were here during the Xmas break and it never felt busy. It is far away from most of the island which makes it quiet and relaxing, however, if you want to enjoy nightlife or try out different restaurants a more centrally located hotel might be better suited.

LaLaanta is truly a very special place. We were lucky enough to have booked one of the Sand Castle Villas, which had a prime view of both pools and the sea. From the moment we arrived on Koh Lanta, the service we were provided with was excellent. I arranged a pick up from the pier, and before we knew it we had arrived in paradise. The food is delicious at LaaLanta, we'd definitely recommend the Pad Thai with prawns, the Vietnamese fresh spring rolls, and the red/green/yellow curries. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a few places whilst visiting Thailand, and LaaLanta was hands down our favourite spot. We loved it. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Only the location is good. Directions very far and the last 200 meters extremely exciting and bumpy (means without roller or similar not possible to get to other restaurants). The staff and the complete complex (bungalow, pool) is a total disappointment for the price and was by far the worst hotel on our 3.5 week trip to Thailand (generally never had such a bad hotel, whether Asia/Indonesia/Africa/Caribbean etc.) The pictures on the booking pages are unfortunately completely falsified. Max 1 rather 0 stars. Unfortunately due to the speedboat delay only arrived in the evening in the dark, but already there you could see that everything is dirty and completely run down. The bed is a thin, completely sagged mattress on the dirty floor (completely soft). Passing the "reception" before dinner and asked that the bungalow should be cleaned please and whether the theme soft bed can be improved. The lady was immediately unfriendly/rejective and said someone took care of it. In the restaurant, unfortunately the only way to eat in the evening, the next surprise. In both main courses we had hair, never experienced in Thailand, whether street kitchen or restaurant. The staff didn't care when you mentioned this either! Once back in the bungalow, of course, nothing was done. The next day before breakfast passed the reception and we were asked if everything fits now, when we denied this the same game from the front. Immediately unkind and someone would take care of it . Breakfast I get a better one at any hostel or 7elevn. The only positive thing afterwards was the deserted beach, but the lounging area from the hotel to no "luxury". When no one had taken care of the bungalow until 12pm, we contacted a 5 star hotel (really luxury) and booked a room for the remaining 4 nights including pickup. Except for a few hundred Baht the same price as paid at LaLaanta. At check out there was no question asked why you leave early etc.
A big thank you to Booking, we had received the full money back for the LaLaanta accommodation within 3 days!

We stayed here for 5 nights near the end of our 3 week honeymoon. We chose to upgrade to a sand castle room as it was our honeymoon after all but I think a room further back would have been enough and meant saving a few hundred pound. I guess you pay for the view which was absolutely stunning.
If you read up on Lalaanta before you go then the pics are a little deceiving. Once we arrived I agreed the place felt a bit neglected but once you get used to it, you can appreciate the rawness of it. I just think for the price, you may expect a little more.
The pool was refreshing after laying out on the beach, so were the drinks - again they were overpriced compared to everywhere else we had been in Thailand. There a couple of bars along the beach where you can find cocktails for less than half the price.
The staff were funny, and warming. The resort had a few dogs roaming around and every morning at 7am we were woken to monkeys jumping on the roof which I loved. Don't leave any belongings out as they WILL take them, although clothes were safe on the balcony and they never took my flip flops.
The beach is a lovely stretch of white sand with hardly anybody about as bamboo bay is the last bay on the southern tip of koh lanta. This being said, to get anywhere else you need to rent a scooter, which we did but a useful tip to remember if you come home in the dark there are no sign posts, you need to take the concrete track that then turns into a dirt track. It took us a while to find it as we were looking for a dirt track off the road.
We booked a 4 Island boat trip that picks you up right on the beach - highly recommend unless you want better snorkelling then choose the Koh Rok tour.
Breakfast was good, especially the crispy bacon. We ate dinner a couple of times and the food was nice.
Overall - if you don't mind spending money on rustic, laid back atmosphere then come here. I get bored easily so 5 nights was too long for us and we could have saved a lot of money staying near another beach but also other restaurants and bars.

This place is a true hideaway where you can switch off completely. It has everything you need - a beautiful beach steps away from your room, pool with amazing view, good food and drink and some of the most lovely staff you will ever meet. Don't miss the massages as they are truly brilliant and very reasonably priced. We took one every day on our last stay!

We stayed for 2 nights in a pool/sea view bungalow. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was good and well priced. The resort is on the far south of the west coast and has a long white sandy beach and great sunsets. The 2 pools are nice for a cool down from the heat. My only slight niggle are steps in the room from the bed area to the living space and then again down to the bathroom. A real trip hazard at night.

Hideaway is the main point of this nice hotel, built near Bamboo Beach, southern of Koh Lanta. The hotel is nice, the rooms are small individual bungalows. The place is relatively roots and isolated but remains comfortable and pretty clean. A nice and small pool is available, and the beach is footsteps away with sunbeds and parasols. A great restaurant with fair prices and good food is in the hotel. Very great in order to avoid driving for eating during the evening. The hotel offers motor scooters to rent (300B), and different activities can be organised. It's a nice place to stay if you want (or don't mind) being isolated near a very nice beach.

We absolutely loved this place. Chico and his staff are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The beach is superb with lovely sand and barely anybody there. The food was consistently delicious and the margueritas were the best we had anywhere. The pool was excellent and two lovely ladies provided massage services for all the family. There are alternative places to eat on fractionally more popular - but still nice - beaches and the hotel will organise a taxi there. We thought rooms and food and other services were very fairly priced. Yes, its a bit run down and the monkeys make a bit of a mess in the night but we really didn't care. We lived in Thailand 30 years ago and I really thought there weren't any 'old school' places like this any more. Quite a few of the guests we chatted with were on repeat visits. We'll probably do the same!

My husband and I came to LaLaanta for a vacation. While there we suffered a motorbike accident rendering us unable to get around. The staff at the resort were not only kind but incredibly helpful. They anticipated our every need and made us very comfortable while we recuperated.
Chico, the manager, was especially helpful. He made sure we had transportation and sorted out help at the airport for us. As well as making sure we had our medical needs met.
The food was very good and the portions are quite large. I am gluten free and Chico even baked gluten free bread so I could have toast at breakfast!
The resort also has two of the best massage therapists you could ask for. They were particularly helpful after the accident.
We found the rooms to be clean and well furnished. The atmosphere was very laidback. We would love to come again.

Yes definitely, I’m returning next March and bringing my own snorkelling equipment. There’s also a scuba diving company and you can organise day trips to the little islands close by which have amazing spots to snorkel - but do it private charter to avoid crowds. Enjoy I love this place and excited to go back.
Hi Bobbie.. yes you can go around. But i am afraid you will find any public transport there. The resort is quite secluded from the main town/city area. But the resort can arrange a taxi for you. And we didn’t do any activities there but just relaxed in the resort as I was 4 months pregnant at that time.
It is quite secluded. But easy to jump on a scooter and head down the road a bit. Also depends if you're staying in peak season, there seemed to be a couple other places around in walking distance, but I didn't stay in peak season so they weren't open. It's a great place though!
There are more places to choose from in the Ko Lanta area.
