We stayed here for four nights. We had a WONDERFUL time. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were super. Tic was attentive and always ready to help. Food was excellent too- one of the joys of this place is that it is far from other restaurants, bars etc ( if they were even open!) - so be prepared to travel by bike, taxi or car. Loved this place so much!
I'd like to thank LaLaanta Hideaway Resort for the warm welcome. Good hotel, the staff was awesome very friendly helpful. and good location! 2nd time staying this hotel! all good! I will be back again. Thank you Chico.
We stayed in that resort for 3 night only. The hotel was really hidden from the main road where taxi left us. The ground of the hotel area looked a bit rough and could be kept better. The reception was kind of an open space. The receptionist called Chicko was very kind and helpful. We had to wait about one hour for our room to be ready so we had a little curry lunch and beer on their terrace with a beautiful sea view. The hotel consisted from many single huts. Our hut was placed quite in the back (No 303). There was a fresh and pleasant scent in the room. Whole interior was designed in the typical Thai style, quite modern, although looked tired. The little fridge, kettle and AC worked fine. We didn’t try tv. The bathroom was quite small and dark. It looked like an extension to our hut. The marks for the improvements were visible there too. The bed was a too soft for our liking and the bedsheets were not in good quality. There was a mosquito bed net, which was very handy. The cleaning could be better too. Our little front door terrace was great to have a morning coffee or an evening drink. Breakfast were served on the higher floor next to the reception. It was ok. We had few lunches there and one dinner. The setting was very authentic, bamboo everywhere, sand under your feet. We really like their curry. The prices were comparable with other restaurants or bars although there were nearly none in the close distance. You should have some transport if you wish to go a bit further to find some shop. The pool area was beautiful. It required a lot of cleaning every morning as it was surrounded by many palms and trees. The sea was lovely too. The beach had the most fine sand we have ever stand on. There were a lot of sun beds on the beach, made of bamboo but lots of them were broken. The hotel area was invaded by many monkeys. They were cute to observe and took a picture but some of them were quite vicious. We have seen a snake next to our hut one afternoon. We did go for a half day hike to Mu Ko Lanta national park to take some nice pictures. We were a bit disappointed by the natural track. There were no animals and it cost 200baht. To sum it up, the hotel was lovely, quiet and relaxing, away from craziness. Great unspoiled surroundings but there were few things to be updated. …
We absolutely loved this place. Chico and his staff are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The beach is superb with lovely sand and barely anybody there. The food was consistently delicious and the margueritas were the best we had anywhere. The pool was excellent and two lovely ladies provided massage services for all the family. There are alternative places to eat on fractionally more popular - but still nice - beaches and the hotel will organise a taxi there. We thought rooms and food and other services were very fairly priced. Yes, its a bit run down and the monkeys make a bit of a mess in the night but we really didn't care. We lived in Thailand 30 years ago and I really thought there weren't any 'old school' places like this any more. Quite a few of the guests we chatted with were on repeat visits. We'll probably do the same!…
We stayed here for 5 nights near the end of our 3 week honeymoon. We chose to upgrade to a sand castle room as it was our honeymoon after all but I think a room further back would have been enough and meant saving a few hundred pound. I guess you pay for the view which was absolutely stunning. If you read up on Lalaanta before you go then the pics are a little deceiving. Once we arrived I agreed the place felt a bit neglected but once you get used to it, you can appreciate the rawness of it. I just think for the price, you may expect a little more. The pool was refreshing after laying out on the beach, so were the drinks - again they were overpriced compared to everywhere else we had been in Thailand. There a couple of bars along the beach where you can find cocktails for less than half the price. The staff were funny, and warming. The resort had a few dogs roaming around and every morning at 7am we were woken to monkeys jumping on the roof which I loved. Don't leave any belongings out as they WILL take them, although clothes were safe on the balcony and they never took my flip flops. The beach is a lovely stretch of white sand with hardly anybody about as bamboo bay is the last bay on the southern tip of koh lanta. This being said, to get anywhere else you need to rent a scooter, which we did but a useful tip to remember if you come home in the dark there are no sign posts, you need to take the concrete track that then turns into a dirt track. It took us a while to find it as we were looking for a dirt track off the road. We booked a 4 Island boat trip that picks you up right on the beach - highly recommend unless you want better snorkelling then choose the Koh Rok tour. Breakfast was good, especially the crispy bacon. We ate dinner a couple of times and the food was nice. Overall - if you don't mind spending money on rustic, laid back atmosphere then come here. I get bored easily so 5 nights was too long for us and we could have saved a lot of money staying near another beach but also other restaurants and bars.…
