The place is within walking distance (a few minutes) of the city's main antiques and night market. Once I arrived I received from Jeeda (she's wonderful!) all the information about the city: attractions, antiques, markets and restaurants recommendations. The room is very spacious, the staff is great and the location is excellent. Highly recommend.
We stayed two nights and as other reviewers have said I was a little cynical that all the positive reviews could be true but they really are! Jeeda is a perfect host. She gave us a couple of great tips about taxis, tours (we enjoyed the boat tour) and also arranged bike hire for us. Nothing was too much trouble The room was simple but aircon and WiFi were both very effective which is all you need really! The location is perfect walking distance to some nice restaurants, temples and a 7-11 Breakfast was tasty! Overall we would highly recommend this for a short stay in Ayutthaya!
When reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews for Prom Tong Mansion, I was wondering if they could all really be true. My husband and I spent a night at Prom Tong, and I cannot say enough good things about it. The manager, Jeeda, is exceptional and is the reason for the 5-star reviews. Prior to arriving, Jeeda promptly answered train-to-hotel transfer questions, including the price we should expect to pay. I always appreciate knowing what the typical fee should be. Upon arrival, we were shown promptly to our room, which was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The A/C works VERY well, which you need in Ayutthaya. The wifi was strong and we were even able to make a video call to my family on Christmas Eve. Jeeda, who speaks excellent English, came to our room shortly after arrival, armed with a map and all pertinent information. She suggested the boat tour from 4-6 pm, which allows you to see sunset at Wat Chaiwatthanaram. This is a worthwhile tour costing 250 baht per person. Although it was a bit rushed at each temple, you'll enjoy the nice breeze off the river. We had read about the 6-temple ticket, and Jeeda mentioned that as well. We decided to buy it, and made it to 5 of the 6 temples covered by it. Jeeda was nice enough to mark these specific temples on the map. We set off to explore, feeling confident due to all the useful information Jeeda provided. Prom Tong is just off a busy road, with easy walking access to several temples. It is a peaceful place, and is locked in the evening, so no one at the front overnight. You will be given a key to open the gate in case you are out after they lock up. This was not a problem at all. We chose to pay 200 baht each for the breakfast, which was a nice selection of eggs, toast, and fruit. We appreciated that Jeeda would refill our water bottles upon request, as we needed it! There are no other food services besides coffee and tea in the room, so you'll want to visit the 7-11 nearby to get beer and/or snacks for the evening. The closest attraction to Prom Tong is actually one of the most famous, Wat Mahathat. This has the Buddha face in the tree. It is only a 7 minute walk from Prom Tong. Just five minutes more and you'll reach Ratchaburana, one of my favorites. A little farther, but still walkable, are Wat Phra Ram, (sunrise), , you can also reach Wat Phra Si Sanphet, and Wat Phra Mongkhon. If you are willing to walk 30 minutes or so, you can also get to an enormous reclining buddha, Wat Chaiwatthanaram. All this is to say that the Prom Tong's location is perfect for exploring Ayutthaya's treasures on foot. When you get hot or tired, a tuk tuk ride is never far away. Grab a business card from Jeeda beforehand and you are good to go! Prom Tong Mansion is what every lodging should be: welcoming, comfortable, informative, and affordable. You cannot go wrong by staying here. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.…
I have traveled around the world and stayed in may places, but I don't know that I've stayed at a place I enjoyed more than the Prom Tong. The price, especially in high season was extremely reasonable. There isn't a complementary breakfast, but there is a 7-11 nearby that also has an ATM. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. The room came with complementary bottled water each day as well as some snacks! The manager (Jeeda) was ever present to help us with anything we needed including booking a taxi/tuk-tuk. On New Year's she made us special treats and even gave us a complementary ride to the bus station. She also was willing to share her wealth of knowledge about the local area to make sure that we had a pleasant stay. This is a real gem in a country known for excellent service.…
We stayed one night and in two words: just perfect! The hotel is very cute, clean located in a quite neigborhood. The host is very friendly and serviable. She gave us very good tips. It was possible to take a shower after check out in the evening before taking the nighttrain to Chiang Mai. Don’t hesitate to go to PromTong Mansion, very nice place in Ayuttaya!
