The owners Jose & Daisy were so welcoming & the food was excellent. Despite the power cut due to a heavy storm Daisy still managed to give us a cookery lesson. The demo by Jose about rubber production was really interesting & we were allowed to wander anywhere round the rubber plantation - lovely butterflies & insects to be seen.

Jose and Daisy welcomed us warmly in to their home for a relaxing afternoon touring their property and a most delicious Keralan lunch. I can't speak highly enough about their hospitality, a real joy and one of the highlights of our holiday touring South India. Thank you Jose and Daisy!

Nov 2015 I read somewhere that if invited into a Kerala household the people treat you like family, this was certainly true when staying with Jose & Daisy’s at Mundackal Estate where we were welcomed in like old friends. We toured the Estate with Jose who pointed out the vast variety of fare growing in the plantation with his own... More

We had a great stay here. Jose and Daisy made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent. We had a good cookery lesson. There was a great variety and loads to eat. Jose took us around the plantation, it was a lovely informative tour. Take away breakfasts for gluten free people benefit from discussion with Daisy. I'm not sure... More

Not a lot to add to all the previous reviews. All spot on - (except those that were "disappointed"). Jose & Daisy put a lot of effort into making you feel right at home and we had very interesting conversations with them and the other guests. How else are you going to get insights into the Indian way of life... More

The appeal of Mundackal was staying with a local family who had lived there for generations. It was a working plantation, growing bananas, rubber, coconuts, cashews, cardamon and black pepper. many of these ingredients went into the excellent dishes that Daisy produced and she also gave a culinary class to explain, although we didn't quite get it right when we tried... We had a great warm welcome at this Homestay but I was very upset at the state of our room. It was not very clean at all and the bathroom left a lot to be desired! A live electric cable where we had to shower was rather concerning to say the least! I think talking to other guests made us... More

As part of a gastronomy holiday, our gracious hosts Jose and Daisy showed us round their wonderful home and plantation and Daisy demystified the delights of Keralan cookery with a friendly and simple demonstration. This is a very special place ... I loved being there and only wished we were staying there too. I cannot rate this highly enough as... More

A very warm welcome from Daisy and Jose who seem to genuinely love having people to stay in their home. Jose was enthusiastic when showing us his rubber plantation and all the spices. Daisy's cooking is legendary - banquets. The quality of the food and the choices were amazing. a privilege to stay in their home and I wish them... More
