Arrived in Roatan and a driver from the hotel was waiting with a sign to take us to the resort. On the way we stopped at a grocery store to pick up snacks and drinks, and in about 15 minutes arrived at Puerta Azul. The vibe was a laid back beautiful sanctuary. We met Augusta and Haris, who are caretakers and chefs at the property as soon as we checked in. They welcomed us and for our three day stay took care of all of our needs for tours, restaurants, and taxis, as well as serving a fantastic breakfast to us, suited for our dietary needs (I am gluten free). Our room was a bungalow right on the beach with a large king bed and super cold A/C (we actually turned it off because there was a nice breeze). For ten dollars before we moved to our next hotel in West Bay they washed and folded a huge load of laundry. The tours were very reasonable and Augusta and Haris gave us tips on the best places to snorkel. We also had a driver one day for four hours to take us to the Mayan Eden Adventure Park, where we commingled with macaws and monkeys and then zip lined through the trees, then took us to French Harbour so we could have lunch overlooking the water. Roatan is my new favorite island and hope to come back soon and see our new friends!

I’m not even sure where to start, but I loved everything about Puerta Azul. The property is absolutely stunning, the perfect place for peace, relaxation, and snorkeling! I spent 8 days of my trip here and couldn’t be happier with my choice. Augusta and Harrison were amazing!! Seriously can’t say that enough! I had such a great time getting to know them and I feel like they will be friends for a lifetime! (That girl can cook too!) The whole staff was super friendly and welcoming and I look forward to seeing all of them again. Thanks for an awesome vacay guys!!

This was our second stay at Puerta Azul and it was even more magical the second time. Augusta and the staff took amazing care of us. Our beach-front casita was super comfortable and made a great home away from home. The daily breakfast was tasty and light. The reef, to which you can swim from the end of the pier, has some of the most spectacular snorkeling we’ve ever done. We snorkeled every single day and probably saw the entire reef from Anthony’s Key all the way up past Puerta Azul. The day trip to Pigeon Cay on the Jesse James was outstanding and Greg was very knowledgeable about the island. José was kind enough to open a fresh coconut for us more than once and always had a friendly word to say. I cannot express how much I love Puerta Azul. We will definitely be back for a third visit!

This place was a great spot to enjoy the island and retain some freedom and privacy. The hosts were great and well informed! Both English and Spanish speaking! With a dash of Italian haha any question they had answers and recommendations. Very clean and well kept. I would recommended to my friends and I truly hope to return again. Thank you guys!

WOW-Puerta Azul gave us a perfect holiday in Roatan in February 2021-so much so-we decided to return in May 2021 to see if perfection can be repeated...it can and WAS! This resort delivers on all the features/amenities travelers are seeking; beautiful setting, authenticity, great "creature comforts"(room/food) options-along with an owner-Talia-who lives on-site and is passionate about her hotel, the island and its people. Talia recently directed and produced a 4 minute film about Puerta Azul and Roatan which aired on the "Good Morning America" show in late May 2021. The Roatan Tourist Bureau would be well served to have Talia lead their group. Puerta Azul has spiffy, modern ocean-front bungalows along with charming casitas scattered throughout the well-maintained, attractive, lush property. Tasty breakfasts are served on a wonderful shaded deck facing sneak peeks of the ocean viewed through lovely flora and fauna. Talia is also a talented chef and-upon request-can create marvelous lunch/dinner entrees. Puerta Azul has a cozy, quiet, inviting beach. A pier-that is accessed through "the blue door" has a shady gazebo at its end with entry into deeper water. A 10 minute snorkel from the pier to the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world is a must visit. The reef is home to over 400 fish species and 70 different coral organisms. Puerta Azul is well- equipped for water activities; snorkels/fins, kayaks, and paddleboards are available on-site for guests. The resort also has a 23 ft. sport boat with a 250hp engine for off-site excursions. After this positive review-Puerta Azul-has created a problem for us. Can we find enough funds in our travel budget for a 3rd. visit in 2021!! Roger
