Anthony's Key Resort is celebrated for its beautiful, clean rooms and efficient housekeeping, with many guests commending the comfort provided. The staff generally receives high marks for their attentiveness and professionalism, but some guests have reported inconsistencies in service.
While the resort offers a range of amenities, including popular snorkeling and dolphin experiences, guests should be aware of additional costs for certain activities and some confusion regarding towel service. The value for money at Anthony's Key Resort has received mixed reviews, as some travelers find the pricing reasonable, while others are put off by extra charges.

We first discovered AKR in 2013 when our son was 8 years old and was interested in how my wife and I enjoyed scuba diving. They have a summer "kids dolphin camp" program and it was a perfect way for him to be exposed to diving, dolphins, other kids - all while we were diving at different points throughout the day. Through the years we kept coming back - always committing NOT to return as there were so many other places in the Caribbean to visit. But we always had a fantastic time, consistently great diving / service / experiences, and now after our 10th visit - a family tradition that we all love. Great service, family ownership, small, safe, and customer service oriented.

We usually stay at WEV for diving but stayed here for the first time since they had on-site covid testing for our return to the US. Meals and drinks were excellent. I don't think we had a repeat lunch or dinner menu for the entire week. Big thank you to the restaurant and bar staff! Their dive boats were roomy, had lots of shade, reasonably fast and most importantly had excellent ladders for getting back onboard in rough water. I was not that impressed with the 2 dive guides for the week, even though they were both local Roatan guides. They just did not seem to be that interested, but I am comparing them to Seagrape guides who to me are the best on the island. Dive support staff were excellent, almost every tank was 3000psi, and were very knowledgeable about any problems. They provide individual lockable dive lockers but divers are responsible for setting up, washing and hanging up their own gear. Our unit was on the island, so we took the boat shuttle many times. Thanks also to the shuttle crew for making the quick trip very enjoyable. There are apparently some island units that have been remodeled and some not. Island units 41-44 and 48 are good. Avoid unit #27, it is one of the oldest, not very roomy, has no real closet and needs an electrical upgrade. They also have units not on the island. AKR is also building a new reception and restaurant on the same level as the dive shop and boat dock which should be completed by the end of 2021, but until then guests will still have to climb multiple steps up to the present restaurant & bar, so not for those with mobility issues. AKR's program of critters of Roatan should not be missed. Wish they had it more than once a week. Same with their beach party with local band and entertainers. Like everywhere else on Roatan, mosquitoes or sand fleas are still an issue so don't forget the bug repellent.

My wife and I have been going to Anthony’s Key Resort for the past five years and we love it there.
The staff are all so accommodating and friendly and as returning visitors we feel so welcome by the staff who remember us from the previous visits.
The bungalows are very comfortable, clean and have everything you need for a relaxing stay.
The bungalow are located on a separate island and are perched on piers along the shoreline extending over the water and provide a spectacular view of the surrounding seas and main island coastline.
I can’t say enough about the dive facilities. From the dive masters and boat captains to the dive centre staff, this place is the best run dive facility we’ve ever been to and we have been diving around the Caribbean for over 25 years.
If you want a great dive or snorkel vacation you won’t be disappointed if you select AKR.

I had great expectations for this place and ended up a bit frustrated, with things that could easily be solved. First of all, it is not an "all inclusive resort' so much as a full board. Meals were included (and delicious!), but snacks and drinks are all paid for.
Then they offer you water, but only at designated bottle filling stations (not a lot of those either) and don't offer you a complimentary water bottle, so you have to BUY one at the gift shop for USD 12 if you forget to bring one from home.
In your room, they have an acrylic jug that you can refill at the station (the closest one being around 300ft from my room). They could be attentive and leave those jugs filled for you, as it's a bit annoying to get to the room and have to go out again to get some water, especially if you wake up thirsty in the middle of the night. They do offer paper cups in the room, or at least they did in mine. Still on food/beverages - no snacks or paper cups on dive boats or when you finish your dive, so too bad if you forget your water bottle when leaving for a dive.
Rooms are lovely, spacious, very comfortable. However, all the pathways are sandy and there's nothing for guests to clean up their feet before entering the room, so it gets really dirty really soon. A bucket/large bowl with a ladle or a cup would suffice, with a small carpet to dry your feet. I was there during the rainy season and really missed a piece of cloth where I could wipe my feet before going in. They clean it up everyday, but it's hard to keep it clean, so flip flops required in the room at all times if you don't want your bed filled with sand.
A couple of quick fixes could make this a much better experience for us!

This was an excursion that we booked through Norwegian Breakaway. We had an 8:15 a.m. appointment on May 4. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who did our Dolphin experience and snorkel - he was kind, informative and patient. Our dolphin was Polli. The water was crystal clear and calm, the location, a very short boat ride from the resort entrance to an area that looked like Bali - had a sandy beach from which to walk into the water. We also snorkeled with the dolphins, which was magical. Nothing was rushed. Bathrooms, lockers and changing rooms provided. We brought our own snorkels, but fins and lifejackets were also provided. Beautiful photography of the event. Can't recommend this highly enough!!!!!

We are repeat visitors to Anthony's Key Resort, this resort is nothing short of magical. My wife and I enjoy the tropical setting and our cottages on the key. The food is amazing and all of the staff are outstanding. I cannot recommend a trip to AKR highly enough.
The diving is the true star of this Island. AKR capitalizes on the natural beauty both above and below the water. AKR has a large fleet of dive boats so things don't get too crowded, this makes the diving far more enjoyable. The dive masters and captains are seasoned professionals that really know how to make the most out of each dive. We are always amazed by the sea life we get to see on each dive and the remarkable underwater landscape around Roatan.
With all of the Covid panic there are those who choose not to travel, but AKR is on top of making sure guests are taken care of. The resort is fully equipped to protect people from Covid, I felt very safe from the threat of infection. They also offer onsite Covid testing for re entry into the United States.

The experience at Anthony’s Keys Resort was truly incredible and I can’t wait to return.
The staff is so friendly, helpful, easy to talk to and very accommodating. They picked us from the airport, handled our luggage, and ensured we were happy with our rooms.
Yolanda was at the front and able to answer room change questions and email back and forth ahead of time. Gregory was quick at talking our luggage to our rooms and helping carry stuff. Mel helped me get scheduled for the dolphin encounter and always said hi in passing. Jose was a patient instructor who helped me finish my certification. We did a private lesson as well to help me get past my fear of taking my goggles off under water(I know, silly…. But it was hard 🤪). The instructors really care about you knowing your stuff and won’t pass you just because you paid. They value their licenses and their work. Marvin and Luis were the dive master and boat captain and they were an awesome duo. Marvin knew I was super new at diving and he made sure to check on me and made me feel super safe and comfortable. I can’t imagine being with anyone else under water! He was grade A! Luis was very encouraging and helpful always helped with my gear. I love them both and can’t wait to
The food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included at the resort. The soups, meals, all of it… flavorful and great! I highly recommend trying every soup they have. Alcohol drinks are for purchase but their happy hour runs buy one get one free most afternoon/evenings. Timmy is a great bartender.
The rooms: beautiful, on the water, outside private deck patio, regular outlets compatible with US outlets. AC unit in the rooms.
Tips/suggestions: Bring bug spray for when you’re and about because sand fleas and mosquitos are real. Bring cash to tip your maids, boat captain/dive master, bartenders, boat taxi guys, etc. at the end of the week. Bring water shoes. Wash salt water off of you which helps with bug bites.

We were the first group there after they reopened. They went out of their way to keep us feeling safe. The employees were all wearing masks all the time(even on the dive boat)and kept the place clean and sanitized.
The diving was excellent as were the divemasters.
The food was fantastic I cant recommend the place enough..
well worth the troubles of flying these days. We already planned our return for next year!

Our class came to this resort for two weeks and stayed in nice wood finished rooms that had great air conditioning, showers, bunk beds, and a deck. The resort is very clean and organized with lots of great friendly service. The pool was very nice with a bar next to it. The restaurant was amazing and offered delicious desserts every day. The activities are also very fun to take part in. As for scuba diving we saw so much coral, fish, and marine life. We had lectures in the RIMS building and dove almost 2 times every day depending on weather and plans. This was by far one of the nicest places on Roatán and if I ever get a chance to go back to Honduras, I am going to make sure I stay here. They care about the marine life and guests and want to make your experience unforgettable!

We can’t say enough good things! AKR has every detail dialed in! Pick up, check in, greeting and seamless luggage transfers to our adorable over water bungalow started our trip off right!! Denny greeted us with our dive locker and nitrox info ready to go getting us quickly set up for diving!
Edwin was our dive master and show cased this amazing underwater paradise with lots of skill and information about every dive, fish and area! He was a great balance of guide, as well as not micro managing the dives, he was good at reading the skill levels of the group and tailoring each dive to the things the group was most interested in. He showed us some new fish to us, toadfish were particularly interesting! Rupert, our boat captain tended to all the details and safely transported us each day.
All the staff are professional and friendly from the shuttle boat (Humberto was a delight), bus, front desk, grounds, security, wait staff and shop attendants!
The food was awesome! The chef is amazing and even shared a couple recipes. Try every soup you can, they are amazing! He came to the tables each night and greeted the guests as an added nice touch!
Our head waiters Hill and Steven were so nice! Hill was full of stories and even made us some fresh ceviche after a day of personal fishing he’d done!
Every day when we got back from diving the cleaning staff had our room immaculate, with fresh flowers and cute little towel animals on the best!
The bar tenders at both bars did a great job, we especially enjoyed Timmy at the main bar.

Plenty of snacks for the room at the little snack shop, ice cream as well. Don’t remember if they had beer and wine. We bought our mixed drinks, wine and champagne at the bar next to the restaurant. Another bar is conveniently located next to the pool on the island with the deluxe and superior cabins. Have a great time!
We booked this through our cruise ship. Some book just a dolphin encounters and others booked both encounter and snorkeling. Not sure if they offer is just the snorkeling part separately. They have a phone number you can contact them on there website.
No haven't noticed much w ships in port
SCTLD is evident. Still worth the trip, though, as the resort was in great shape and the experience was fun and relaxing. it was our first multi-day diving since pre-pandemic and it was just what we needed.
Our dive master said that you could snorkel from the shore, but more aquatic life, structure, and color are better snorkeling over some of their dive sites.
