I initially reserved a private room for 2 weeks and then added a week. Mel built this hostel from the ground up and her devotion shows with grounds that are beautifully cared for. There a variety of room options and great hospitality from the staff, and of course Mel herself. Many unforgettable little parties with people from around the world even during Covid times. The communal kitchen was well stocked and a supermarket is around the corner as is a convenient restaurant serving up baleadas and burritas for cheap. I was looking for a place where i could access great snorkeling from the shore and I found it here. After a 5 - 10 minute walk, t's a brief relatively swim out to the reef at Sandy Bay and once there I saw pretty much everything at least once. It's wild snorkeling, you will not see other snorkelers. I will be back to do video work there. Thanks to Mel and staff.

I stayed here for a week and it truly was the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Every one was so friendly. Mel who runs it is amazing. So informative and inviting. I caught a barracuda and she made a family meal for everyone that was delicious. The pool is amazing on the hot afternoons. The little restaurant on premise is very good as well. Multiple spots to hang out and meet people but quiet enough to get away of you want to. It is in a convenient location as well. Can't say enough. Hope to return soon

Great low price option compared to others on Roatan. Staff and owner were super friendly and helpful. Room was clean, WiFi was decent and pool was lovely. Only downside was it felt a bit far away from the busier beach areas but buses and taxis were easy to catch. Would recommend.

I have had the chance to stay at Roatan Backpacker's Hostel quite a few times and always enjoy my stay. Every time I arrive to check in I am given a warm welcome by Mel and her boys. It is so nice that they remember returning guests. There are several lodging options available. I have stayed in a private room, small apartment and the Cando Jr all of which were clean, comfortable, and affordable. There are often group outings or activities, sometimes organized by Mel and other times by hostel guests making it easy to meet people and make friends. My favorite part of the hostel is relaxing at the pool with a cold drink and talking to Mel and hostel guests about our travel adventures. I can't wait for my next visit to Roatan and will definitely be staying at Roatan Backpackers' Hostel, my home away from home!
