We were stuck in this hostel during corona crisis for a week and we couldn‘t have imagined a better place to stay! Mel, the owner of the hostel and her friend Melinda helped us with everything and drove us to the airport and the ATM. We celebrated the 9th birthday of the hostel and had dinner and played games all together. During the days we spent our lockdown time laying at the pool or playing volleyball. As we all came along very well we really felt at home in this cute hostel. Everything was clean, everyone was helpful, well-equipped kitchen, the beach and the supermarket were just around the corner and the pool was our highlight! Best place and group of people to spend a lockdown with!
A hidden gem of an oasis on the beautiful island of Roatan! As a solo traveler on a budget, who prefers a private room, I appreciated Roatan Backpackers many options. I decided on a single room with bathroom and it was perfect! Quiet, clean, private, with it's own very comfy hammock and muskoka chair for long hours of relaxing, what more can one woman need?! The staff are knowledgeable, kind and always available. And the pool and deck?! Perfect for long hours of enjoying the warm Honduran sun or making friends with the other travellers. I highly recommend Roatan Backpackers hostel as the perfect spot, especially if you're on a budget but even if your'e not, it's a precious spot to spend your time
Walk to a big grocery store, snorkelling and SCUBA diving. 2USD taxi to West End and that scene. Variety of rooms from cheap to midrange. The backpacker crowd are chatty and collegial and I met a great guy there last year!
Love this place. I have had short medium and long term stays. You meet nice people, and it is a good location to explore Roatan. Good value, functional accommodations, refreshing pool. Can get coffee or a beer at the restaurant, and things are much more convenient with the big grocery store that opened nearby.
I stayed at Roatan Backpackers hostle for 1 week and the staff there is so nice. Mel especially is such a kind soul who really cares about you as a traveler. She recommended to me some great spots around the island to check out. The people you meet here are really also interesting and there is a really nice patio area to hangout after a long day of exploring. The location is in Sandy bay, which is way less touristic than West Bay or West End. If you plan to stay here it would be a good idea to rent a scooter from the hostle. When I come back to Roatan I will be sure to stay here again!
