We had heard great things about Pez de Oro and were looking forward to our stay. But when we got there we just couldn't stay the night. The rooms are small bungalow types with brightly painted walls. But the interiors are dark, musty, and filled with cobwebs. The grounds aren't much. And the pool.... well it would get 5 stars...

We stayed in Hotel Pez de Oro for 4 nights after lake Atitlan, Antigua, and Taklik Abaj to get some nice relaxing time by the beach. The hotel was cute and the huts were painted in vibrant colors. It was quite comfortable with a ceiling fan and mosquito nets(necessity here). We could hear the sound of the ocean and it...

Cant say much about the hotel that has not been said already in the other reviews. from our experience though if u don't speak Spanish the hotel staff are unaccommodating and made us feel as though we were bothersome at times. For example we bought Ice in town for our drinks and our only request was for them to put...

The advertising for this hotel gives the impression that the hotel is good - this is not the case. Be aware that the Monterrico area in general is very rustic and one should not have high expectations of quality. Tourist Board needs to supervise the Monterrico area more, as well as spruce up the area and the access roads. Price...

We made no reservations, choosing to arrive, walk the beach and find our favorite hotel ... this is THE best hotel going South from the main road in Monterrico (if you go the other direction you may find as nice a stay, a perhaps for less money, which would be nice). We looked at every hotel on each side of...

Our three night stay at Hotel Pez de Oro in July 2009 ($48/night) was great. We have stayed here before and definitely would stay again. Pez de Oro is by far the pricier resort in Monterrico, but well worth the extra money. The rooms are good sized and nicely decorated. Our bathroom was large but the fixtures were basic. There...

I stayed at Hotel Pez de Oro for 2 nights in July 2009. The quiet setting and our private bungalow made for a wonderful experience! It felt like a tropical getaway similar to a beach resort that would easily cost triple the price in Cancun (although the beach definitely didn't compare!). I was at the hotel during the rainy season,...

Hotel Pez de Oro is a very nice hotel with great rooms, two small pools, hammocks outside each room, and sun loungers on the beach. It's located right on the beach, just far enough from the centre to be less crowded, but close enough to walk. The restaurant produces really good food and great juices, although the service could be...

Sono tornato per la seconda volta in 4 anni in questo grazioso hotel, non privo di un certo charme. La vegetazione del giardino, le zanzariere in camera, le amacas, gli conferiscono un sapore tropicale. Camere graziose, pulitissime e perfettamente ventilate. Due piscine, purtroppo assai piccole. Ristorante ottimo: pasta veramente "al dente", come in Italia. I came back to this carming...

My husband and I had been studying Spanish in Antigua, Guatemala and decided to take a weekend trip to Monterrico. We booked the trip through David from De Pe a Pa Tours (through the CSA language school). The drive took approximately 2 hours and we saw the Volcan Fuego erupt on the way. You could definitely tell a climate difference...
