We found the El Delfin through an internet search for hotels in this area. We chose it because of the location and has excellent rates. We had just ended a time working with Habitat for Humanity, and wanted some time at the beach. We were not looking for a North American hotel experience, but rather something that fed our sense...

Hotel El Delfin is a small hotel/hostel right on the Pacific Ocean. The palapa roofed rooms are different prices depending on the services offered -from a few dollars a night for a dorm room with a community bath area to $40 a night for an air conditioned, private bath private room. The walls of the buildings are decorated with huge,...

The food was delicious (especially the massive "Gringo Breakfast"), the beer was ice cold, the room was clean and comfortable, and the service was exceptional. Great value. Pay more and get a room with A/C ... totally worth it. Thanks for a great time.

Been here 3 times and loved it every time. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You also have a beautiful view on the beach for the sunset with a cold beer. Are probably going back here next time I'm in Guatemala 🏖

Celebrated my 30th birthday overhere. During the day lovely place, great pool, beautiful beach and great (affordable) food. During the night two things I have to mention. The matrasses are the worst I have been on in 3 months... they are like bananas and underneath is just a concrete block. Our back's are pretty stiff and sore.. During the night...

Hi Stan! I didn't know it was your birthday, Happy Birthday! I'm glad you enjoyed the food and I am so sorry about the beds! Some of the mattresses in the rooms with shared bathroom are in need of replacement, in the last two weeks we have had a number of comments about this and we are in the process...

I was GRANDPAcking in Monterrico for 8 nights and spent all of that time at the El Delfin. Hotels in Monterrico are not the cheapest so I chose their Basic Twin with Private Bathroom which averaged out at only GTQ100 / night. The room was as described ... basic ... concrete slab beds with foam mattresses that had seen better...

Hi, thanks for your comments! I'm glad overall you enjoyed your stay here! And I'm happy to say the room you stayed in now has new mattresses! I'm curious why you say that there is no furniture, as there is a table in that room.....And I checked the sink and it was firmly attached to the wall.....But yes for sure...

I did not stay here but it's popular with travelers and the younger set. The bar offers happy hour cuba libres, vodka and gin for 10 Q (roughly $1.25) The fish served in the restaurant is very fresh and delicious. Breakfast is also an excellent deal.
