Zephyr lodge is a stunning hostel with an infinity pool. My bed overlooked the mountains. You are perfectly located to catch sunset and sunrise. It was super fun and easy to meet people as a solo traveller! Definitely recommend
Incredible views, chilled day-time vibe and not as party as we were prepared for (which was good for us, but don’t expect a dancefloor). Great pool and the semuc champey tour was perfect. One of the prettiest hostels we have stayed in. However, the customer service isn’t great. Stayed for 2 nights in a sky lodge - a tiny wooden platform above the door with a double bed on the floor and barely room for bags. Not an issue but we weren’t aware of how small and open it was. No curtains in the dorms and the light was so dull it was hard to see inside your bag. Minor flaws but would make all the difference if they were improved! My biggest issue was the BBQ forced upon us for nearly double the price of anything on the menu. Staying here was out of our budget anyway so wanted to keep it cheap, but instead we were forced a 65Q BBQ that we didn’t really fancy. It was made to sound like an option next to anything else on the menu, but the staff clearly felt very awkward telling us there was no other option. Some people even started ‘boycotting’ it and didn’t eat (drank their hunger away instead). Some basic communication and maybe a limited menu alongside would have solved this. The night before, we wanted curry from the menu and were told it wasn’t available tonight. We ordered something else, and shortly after they brought out a sign saying it was curry night?!?! so was looking forward to the curry the following night until we were forced the BBQ. This really tainted our experience and could be solved SO easily with a little care. However the staff were friendly overall and we were partly refunded for the water issue they had during our stay so that was nice. overall a good stay.…
The energy of the hostel and the people that work in Zephyr is amazing. They really improved our stay. If you are gonna to semuc champey, the tour that they offer is really nice as well. Others tours are available too. There are many good options to order at the bar and restaurant.
This hostel was fun and social and as a solo traveller it was easy to meet people. I went on one of the tours to semuc and it was fairly priced and a really fun day. Would definitely recommend. The views are beautiful and the dorms are nice. The only thing that bothered me was that the restaurant was quite expensive.
Pastoral landscapes, and informative guides made for an inquisitive traveler like myself. Tasty bites, perhaps a little precarious for dairy free munchers. Zephyr lodge... an anomaly amongst the rustic hostels that reside in beautiful Guatemala.
