Our time with a group in Ohrid was most enjoyable. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast okay but not the best for us. One of the important things was the position of the hotel by the lake, in a quiet location. Despite this we were only a ten minute walk from the restaurant/cafe area in the town and in the perfect spot to enjoy the glorious sunsets and pick up a boat to go on the lake.
This hotel had plenty of shortcomings but I absolutely loved it . Beautiful view right on the lake . No safe , no tea/coffee , room quite compact .Had a balcony . Breakfast not up to much , however meals in the restaurant in the evening were good . Staff very friendly and helpful . So although the facilities were not that good I adored the hotel .
I also stayed here as part of Intrepid Travel, and this was my favorite hotel of the trip There was a karaoke bar next door which was noisy until midnight. Just bring earplugs. The views were great. The internet worked quite well, unlike many of the more budget hotels we used. The breakfast was better than most on the trip. It's really a full service place; they even did laundry (for a fee), and have a cafe attached with full espresso and alcohol bar. It's an easy walk into town. If they could just get the noise issue controlled, it would be an unbeatable choice for the price.
Hotel seemed generally nice so my wife and I booked 2 x 1 hour massages. What a mistake! The spa area downstairs is grubby. The massage is in a small noisy room with door wide open onto the spa area. The area with a hole in the bed to place your face when lying face down is so grubby that it’s covered with a towel and you use the other end of the bed where there is no hole and is uncomfortable. The ceiling has been patched up and is half painted. My 1 hour “relaxation” massage seemed to be ridiculously rushed and was not at all relaxing. There was an aroma of nicotine and it seemed the masseuse was in a hurry. Only after it had finished and the masseuse had left I checked my watch to realise it had only lasted 28 minutes and not the hour I’d paid for. Having got dressed I went to reception and pointed out there was still half hour left and my massage had finished already. They told me the masseuse had already left the building! They however went out into the street and managed to catch up with her and she came back claiming first of all that my massage started 15 minutes early (which it hadn’t, but if it had would of meant my wife’s massage before mine would have been only 45mins instead of an hour) she then apologised and said she didn’t have a timer so didn’t know how long the massage had been. She offered to give me a back massage for the remainder of my time. I was already dressed and would have preferred to have been refunded for the cost of half an hour but this didn’t seem an option. So I reluctantly got changed again and had 20 minutes further back massage. The hole massage experience was not in the slightest bit relaxing and for it to but finished in less than half the allotted time is total joke and lets down what seems what otherwise seems a nice hotel. …
The location of the hotel is great with about a 5 minute walk along the promenade yo the old town. In terms of the rooms yes the bathrooms are small but are clean and perfectly functional. The view from our room was stunning as it overlooks the lake but there is noise from outside in the evening but this was a small price to pay. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet is not as comprehensive as in larger hotels but was good enough and included cold meats eggs cereals and fruit so should satisfy most. The only criticism I would make is that the rooms lack safes which could be fairly easily addressed. All in all a good mid range hotel.
