The Sofitel Kia Ora was clean and beautiful and completely exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. We were upgraded to overwater bungalows when we arrived, which made the experience even better! The beach at this resort is gorgeous and the water was calm, which made it easy to relax and snorkel in the lagoon. From the beach there is a beautiful view of Tahiti and there are tons of coral gardens right in the lagoon that make for great snorkeling. Staff was very friendly and the activities desk was great – they had tons of gear (snorkels, paddle boards, kayaks) that were free for us to use. We booked through Venture Tahiti and we are very likely to return to this resort again the next time we travel to French Polynesia.

Wow, what a perfect place to stain the over water bungalows! One of the best reefs on the island right off your balcony was so great! Loved the glass look out in the room and the outdoor shower was amazing to have the you got out of the ocean!

Positives- Lovely property, beautiful beach, snorkeling is excellent, crystal clear water. Friendly staff for most part. Negatives- there is only 1 restaurant open(website does not reflect this). Breakfast, lunch, dinner is at same location. Menu is ok but not inspiring by any stretch. Breakfast is bad- no other word. Service is horrible! Staff have no idea about service or how to manage in an efficient manor. Waited 40 minutes for coffee, juice and water to come at breakfast. I got up twice to ask for coffee. Food showed up and we still had absolutely nothing to drink after 40 minutes. Food served that morning was cold, old, and mine was pretty much uneatable. This was day 1. Breakfast continued to be about the same for the next 2 days. We learned to order less food and order 4 coffees at the same time for 2 of us because it took so long. Bought milk to made our first coffee in the room with the Nespresso. We got up to ask for things on a regular basis. If you wait for staff you’ll be there for 2 hours... We complained to front desk twice and they said they would talk to service manager... Lunches were better food but service is very inconsistent. They always forget something or add something you didn’t order. We learned to go an hour before we actually wanted to eat- Dinner is the same. Pretty much same menu as lunch but more money for the same items. Average. On the 3rd day we decided we needed to go out for dinner as we couldn’t do the restaurant or menu again- good choice. Our room was slightly disappointing- ocean view was facing into water bungalows so we really didn’t have much of a view unless we turned our patio chairs, table to the side. Room was very dark. The last evening at 2:00am our power went off ( no AC) and we needed to move rooms at 2:30am- they handled this well all considering, but we never found out what the reason was for this. They compensated us by giving a late checkout the next day, until 4-5pm. Great, but you can pay $50 for this with no issue. What if we had a flight to catch early in the day. Overall, for the price, the restaurant service is really poor and you have no options. Staff are very nice, friendly, just poorly trained with service. Website needs to reflect that 1 of the 2 restaurants is closed. The more upscale gourmet one at that. We would consider returning, if another dining option was available and we were more inclined to dine out for meals. We wanted to totally relax and make use of property this time around so unfortunately it fell short for us.

Dear Mr. & Mrs Hodgson, Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience at the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort. We are sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations and please accept our sincere apologies. We strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to improve our service and prevent future occurrence. The actual sanitary situation obliged us to reorganize our service and we know that we still have some points to improve. Regarding the power failure, it was a serious electrical issue, we were only able to solve the next day. This is the reason why we proposed you to move to another room and offered you a late check out, which seemed to please you at that time After having checked on our website, we can confirm you that all information on our web site (https://www.sofitel-moorea-kiaora.com/dining/k/) , specifically regarding our ‘K’ restaurant are up to date; however we will have a look at other e-communication platforms. We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Stéphane SOGLIUZZO General Manager Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort

This is a lovely hotel with a great location at Temae beach, facing Tahiti. I stayed in a garden view bungalow (no. 501) overlooking an attractively landscaped pond with the restaurant and pool a little beyond. The hotel staff was consistently courteous and genuinely kind. The receptionists (and Naomi in particular) were extremely helpful and the servers in the restaurant and bar were constantly trying to pamper me. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has a long sandy beach. There are a few areas in which I feel the hotel could be better: (i) Both the bedside tables were chipped. I would not expect this at a hotel at this price level. (ii) Dinners were hit and miss. Several dishes were underwhelming. I had better food at Rudy’s in Moorea, the Intercontinental in Tahiti and at the Mahana Hotel in Huahine. Breakfast too was similarly inconsistent - some things were good, while others were just ordinary. (iii) On two days, my room was not serviced until 3-4 p.m. and I had to ask the receptionist to call the housekeeping staff to follow up. (iv) It’s a real pity that there’s no hotel gym at a five star property - and no, I don’t want to run outside in the rain or the humidity as one of the staff members suggested as an alternative. (v) Being used to Sofitel’s wonderful MyBed concept in Europe, I was a bit surprised that the bed and the pillows were not as soft as the ones I am used to in Europe. I could be wrong, but the bed and the pillows were less comfortable than at other Sofitel properties. All in all, these are small criticisms. None of this has stopped me from booking another stay at the hotel in January 2021.

We spend 5 nights in a luxury overwater bungalow and loved our stay. The property is gorgeous, service is friendly and the views and snorkeling are amazing. We are a family of 4 and the hotel prepared everything ahead of time and added an extra rollaway bed. Food is expensive but the quality was good. Breakfast was always great, excellent quality and good service. One small thing to improve would be the service at the Pure/Vue restaurant at night time. Always seemed rather slow. Not a big deal though.
