The wonderful Hacienda Abraspungo is located at 2,754 metres above sea level and is surrounded by the magnificence of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is named after a glacial valley which is situated between the Chimborazo Volcano and Carihuairazo, in the exact centre of Ecuador.Hacienda Abraspungo, with its comfortable, charming and high level installations offers a personalized service in the ideal spot to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Andes. The architectural style found here offers the best of traditional colonial design often used in the ancestral mansions and haciendas of Ecuador. The Hacienda is adorned with old photographs and illustrations of Andean landscapes, which today constitutes as a testimony to eras gone by. The antiques on display in the social areas give a colonial flavour as well as a feel for the pre-Colombian cultures of the region. The visitor can truly appreciate the richness of the natural resources offered by the Chimborazo Province and Ecuador in general. Each room takes its name from one of the mountains of Ecuador. That mountain is shown in the photographs displayed within the interior design in the room. The owner’s commitment is to create a working environment which allows sustainable growth, enhancing positive image and generating an overall feeling of trust between the working force, the clients, and the community, aiming to become a point of reference within the tourist industry of Ecuador and the city of Riobamba.
High class comfortable hotel worth going for the cuisine.
Newish but in the colonial style hotel on the outskirts of Riobamba. We used it enroute after the Whympers trail climb at Chimborazo. Really attentive staff fluent in English. A huge room/ wetroom and super king size comfortable bed. Proper heating/ aircon. Lovely gardens to sit out in. The restaurant had a huge menu and the cuisine was the best so far in Equador. Enormous servings of delicious steaks/ salmon/ ceviche etc all with suggested wine pairings. Of course you pay for it but it’s worth it! No other facilities.
We arrived quite late for our one night stay here, after a long day seeing Quilotoa and Chimborazo. Such a shame to have such a short stay as rooms were huge, beds very comfy … and we missed the views as it was dark! We had opted for inclusive meal and very happy to have a caesar salad and pasta choices after the huge meat and potato/corn/rice meals of the previous few days! Buffet breakfast was good with lots of choice. Wifi good ( our sons neeeed good wifi!). Thankfully a clear bright morning after a good sleep meant we could see the view and explore the gardens before our next adventure.
The room, the food, the bar, the staff--All superb! Cannot imagine a better place to stay in Rioamba. Michelle was delightful, friendly, and accommodating. My wife has an allergy to wool. She mentioned it to Michelle and the bedding was changed before we got back to the room.

What a great little find on the outskirts of Riobamba. We stayed here for one night in a large comfortable room with good heating and a comfortable bed. The hotel has a few areas to gather in and we spent a very pleasant couple of hours drinking red wine and playing pool in one of the lounge areas. The craft shop in the courtyard was recommended to us and we found it to have some beautiful things. Some of the items were generic and you can get cheaper at the markets in Quito if you want, but the proceeds support the local community so we were happy to pay a little extra for the convenience. The lovely local lady who runs the shop is also very helpful and obliging. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel (it is a little far out to go into Riobamba for dinner and the town itself is not very nice anyway) and the food was very good on both occasions. Nothing elaborate just good local cooking but tasty and cooked well. The staff were also lovely and very helpful making this an excellent choice for the area. You can also see the most amazing sunsets from their westerly deck area so worth a visit just for that.…

Stayed here before and after attempt to climb chimborazo. Front desk staff and restaurant employees were helpful and friendly. Room had fireplace which was lit upon request. Breakfast buffet was typical while dinner menu was interesting and varied. Wine selection was fairly priced. Room was large and hot water plentiful.

The Overnight Stay in the Hacienda was part of my Tour. The staff was nice and friendly. The Hacienda made a good impression to me because it had charme from the olden days. My room was clean and I have had a Garden View. I did not eat breakfast in the Hacienda because I had to travel very early.
