Hostal Estación, formerly known as Hotel Estación, is a great place to stay. The customer service is great. I love this hotel because it has character. The woodwork is warm and inviting, the chonta wood floors are so much more visually appealing than the ceramic tile or carpets of most hotels. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, the place is safe, and centrally located in the city, the breakfast is good and filling and the price is very reasonable. What more can you ask for in a hotel?

We spent two nights in this hotel and were very pleased, especially with the staff and the location. It is best to get a room in the back of the hotel rather than a room facing the street as there can be quite a bit of traffic noise.

Excellent location and very attractive decoration. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the buffet breakfast was great. Big downside was the small and very uncomfortable bed. Creaky mattress and non-existent pillows (felt like a kitchen sponge) so bad we actually went out and bought our own. Bedroom was small and nice enough but you can hear everything through the paper thin walls, though this is typical in older buildings in the highlands.

Great staff/owners who were very welcoming. This is a great location and the room was clean. My only major gripe were the pillows which were awful and the barkgin dogs which woke us up. Otherwise, this was a simple hotel, well located and fine for a night in Riobamba.

Stayed one night. Wonderful friendly husband and wife team running this hotel. Older style in great central location near old town, plenty of restaurants and shops for whatever needed. Once inside wonderfully quiet compared to the road outside. Room, double bed plus single. The double was too small for us to both sleep in so we split up. Almost no room for suitcases in the room, had to leave one half open and slid under the single bed. Tiny bedside tables. Bathroom minuscule. Breakfast included was more than adequate, dinner - we decided to stay in due to a swollen knee, grilled food also served as takeaway to the street, actually wonderful hamburger and fries. Major issue was the rock hard mattress and tiny pillow almost completely flat making me wake in the morning with a seized up neck.......

Hotel next to train station and about 5mins. taxi ride from bus terminal. Walking distance from main plaza and lots of restaurants. Very good wifi, TV but we didnt get the remote control, didn't need it anyway. Room very basic, clean beds, one of the beds very squeaky. Tiny toilet with shower, clean. Breakfast the basics, eggs, instant coffee, white bread, cereal, juice, the usual Staff very kind and helpful. Recomendable.

Wonderful location if you need to catch the tourist train. The mattress was a nightmare: old and uncomfortable. Cheap accommodation but you feel that you paid for what this place is. Very good shower and free breakfast.

This hotel is just at the limit of 'OK'. Quite old building, small rooms, small bath room, three floors without elevator. There is a parking place right in front, but needs to be payed from 8 - 18h. The only furniture in the room are the beds and a tiny night table. The check in was easy, didn't have to go through a long series of forms with signatures.

Older hotel, 3 or 4 stories, well kept. Room very clean, hot water, husband and wife operated, very nice and helpful, central location across from train station, good breakfast buffet included with stay.
