#21 of 42 B&Bs / Inns in Otavalo
Delightful and comfortable rooms, friendly environment with attentive staff that offers an excellent service 24 hours a day. The hotel is located in a restored, three-story building which, with its dark wooden finishings, Andean touches and colonial construction, combines traditional and modern decor. Numerous large windows allow in plenty of light. Since its inception in July 2004 by three siblings from the Cotacahi Pineda family, the hotel has received awards and praise for it innovative approach and design.

Rooms were clean, breakfast was consistently good (scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea), and there was a nice sitting area on the main floor by the fireplace. The staff were kind, some even spoke English. The hotel is only about 2 blocks from the market so it was a very easy walk and had lots of restaurant and coffee options nearby.

I stayed at the Acoma for multiple days in May - June, 2019 and was very pleased. The hotel has changed management in the past year and it is now a very pleasant hotel. The manager, German, and his wife Carmen, are lovely generous people and the staff goes out of their way to make everything comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast is very consistent (fresh croissants, scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt, and Intag coffee) and the location can't be beat - two blocks from the Plaza de Poncho and the main street of Sucre. Really no where else in Otavalo compares for comfort, value, and a sense of contentment.

Super friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is just a short walk to the craft market and city sights. Room was spacious and comfortable with a wonderful fireplace in the common area. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I just stayed at the Acoma for one night and quite frankly have no idea where the rave reviews have come from. At first glance, the whitewashed adobe exterior looks inviting. However, judging by the drab, peeling, bare cubicle we were led to with paper-thin walls, hopes of enjoying a rustic room with Santa Fe style decor as advertised were quickly dashed. The bathroom was adequate, although the towels had a few miles on them. Being a weekend, we expected breakfast to be busy, but a large group complete with screaming kids, noisily monopolized the staffs time, complete with clapping, all before 8 am. The breakfast itself was average compared to many other places we've stayed at in Ecuador. Along with ourselves, other guests waited to check out while staff waited on our conscientious group. We thus made an arrangement with one of the harried staff members to store our bags and check out later. Once we returned to check out, we were told by another staff member that they couldn't process our Visa card and we had to pay cash, which we did, only to have to wait for 10 minutes while the staff member went out to get 3 dollars change. My wife then requested a receipt which could not be produced by the obviously untrained clerk. The staff did try their best, but the whole place seems to be run in an amateur fashion at best, and the state of this hotel doesn't help overcome these flaws. Our hotel experience in Ecuador has been overwhelmingly positive, but I certainly would not recommend this particular establishment.

Buenas tardes estimado huesped.

We stayed here 3 nights and were happy during this time (the hotel is clean and the staff seems nice). The last day, we did go out only 1 hour in the morning (to see the animals market), came back, took our luggages and took the bus for Latacunga. In the bus, we saw that the memory cards of our 2 tablets were not here anymore. It's SURE that it's a staff member who stole us our cards because all the other tourists were with us at the animals market. We called many times the director of the hotel but he didn't want to recognize that one of his staff members have robbed us BUT he wanted to give us half of the cost of the 2 memory cards (...). It's really difficult to go to the police in small towns so we will do it when we will come back at Quito.
