This was our first visit to Guayaquil and this hotel made it an excellent one. Room in excellent shape; clean, well decorated and excellent location The restaurant's food is excellent, and the attentions can't be better. The people at the front desk were helpful and with good manners.

Great location but a crumby hotel. Absolutely lacked hospitality to the point of being uncomfortable. Overpriced car parking and everything will cost you something unlike the four star hotel a few blocks away. They inspect your room when your out without permission. Yes. The bathroom was old and needed at least a paint job. Let alone the plumbing and the incredibly bad pressure/heat shower you would expect at a $20 Hostel. Is it really a Ramada?

Hotel Ramada Review: First, I would like to say that if I owned a hotel, I would be very happy with the staff we encountered at this site; they made the stay. As the hotel stands now, this hotel is a one night stay only for many reasons. Our reason for staying there was the location. On entry to the hotel, the road which you park on to enter is very dangerous with very fast moving traffic. We are under COVID restrictions, so we enter and we are treated with an alcohol spray and then moved forward to the reception. We made the reservation through booking.com. So it went smoothly. A young man escorted us to our room, where he explained the keycard. We entered the room where he explained the function of the a/c remote, and left. The room had no resemblance to the photos on booking.com. The young man did not explain the alarm system or where we would need to go in an emergency? The room was old like me. The furniture was functional; just, we could not open and close the drawers, so we did not use them. The curtains looked like they were last washed just before they were hung. The closet did have a safe, but it was too small for the two of us so we did not use it. The bathroom- the floor was wet from a leaking hose, which if laid in the bathtub would have prevented the water leaking onto the floor. The towels were just a little younger than I am and we were missing one? Talking about the bathtub, there was paint peeling from around the tub and it was stained. The hand basin was cracked. Sad to see that they did not use bulk sized toilet paper, and the same for the shampoo and conditioner. The use of bulk in the bathroom is environmentally better. The room- both beds moved when sat on? Both beds did not have a bedside light? Both beds did not have a headboard so the pillows would fall down the end of the bed? The pillows- I have never seen such small pillows and found it impossible to sleep on them. Both bed pillows did not have pillow protectors, both mattresses did not have mattress protectors? The included Wyfy was ok @ 10mbps, the TV was ok, the selection of channels was fine. They did not do a bad job of reducing the noise from the road below. Breakfast was included, nice, well presented and good selection. However, the restaurant was well overpriced and very limited in selection. I would give the food a pass and go somewhere else. I understand that there is reconstruction going on in the hotel, but please do not do a bait and switch; the room we stayed in was nothing like the photos on the web site. More than one night here is too much.

Situated on the banks of an estuary, this hotel has a fantastic location. The pool is right on the edge of the estuary and the mangrove trees (manglares) grow between the pool and the water so you can see a wide variety of wildlife - some tiny like crabs, other larger birds. We enjoyed our stay in a room that had room darkening shades operated by a remote control. Since we were there early for an early morning flight, that was a great feature - the room was dark enough for us to catch a nap.

The hotel is well located but as soon as you enter you get transported to the 1980s. The whole place is not well illuminated and that kind of sets the throwback mood of the experience. You even have an old school 1980s elevator. You have a pool but it doesn't look as well as in the pictures. The rooms are ok but the bathrooms are also old with plastic curtains and noise ventilator. The experience overall is not bad but the price benefit relation is not that good.

We were delighted with our experience here and after our flight was delayed for three days, stayed here again. The price was reasonable and if you stay two nights over the weekend, you get a discount rate. Breakfast is included and while not gourmet, it was much better than most hotel breakfasts we had. Coffee was very good and it looked like someone had espresso too (a big bonus). The location is superb, right on the Malecon and with great access to the variety of sight seeing you'd like. We visited the Malecon, the neighborhood of Cerro Santa Anna, the history museum in miniature only 0.2 miles away, and took a cab to the botanical garden which was lovely. We asked for a renovated room per prior TA suggestions and found it more than adequate. The only suggestion I have is to provide at least one English speaking channel. On the bright side, you can brush up on your Spanish with one of the many channels available. We ate dinner twice at the restaurant and found it very nice. Around the corner and down one short block away from the Malecon is the best bakery in the city if not the country. It's closed on Sunday's though. The hotel has a pool and while we didn't use it, the ambience of the pool and surrounding area is very nice. Staff was very helpful in ordering cabs, helping with luggage, providing a welcome cocktail, and seemed to enjoy their hospitality career. All totaled, the hotel exceeded expectations. I don't hesitate to recommend it.

This hotel is only Ramada by name and not part of the group. The location is excellent, opposite the Malecon which is great for strolling. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was pretty big and had everything needed but was pretty old-style. Breakfast was average at best. The pool was fine and there is a decent sauna. The lift was broken on the last day which was rather annoying.

This is long, but the upshot is don’t stay here. The problems started when I arrived at 10 p.m. after a long day of travel, and never stopped. First, I had reserved my room, originally for one night, on Booking. I reserved a “Superior Double” room with a river view. I realized early on the day of arrival that my flight necessitated a second night, so I made a second reservation for the same type of room on Booking, because it wouldn’t allow me to alter the original. On check-in, they forced me to cancel the second Booking reservation or they told me I would have to change rooms (which makes no sense; I assume they just didn’t want to pay the commission, and if it had not been 10 p.m. and my room already paid for, I would have walked out then). They eventually took me to my room, or at least “a” room. It was old, dirty, on the first floor, and definitely not the room I had reserved, based on the pictures. I went to the front desk to tell them they gave me the wrong room, and they argued with me, told me that the pictures are just “representative” of the room travelers “might” get, and initially refused to do anything. Eventually, because I refused to back down, they took me to a room on the fourth floor that, while still old and dirty, bore slightly more resemblance to the room I had reserved. I said fine. By this time there was nothing else open, so I tried to eat at the hotel restaurant. The fish casserole was not edible, and I’m honestly not even sure what it was made of. I couldn’t identify and fish. The “free welcome drink” they offer turned out to be vodka and pineapple juice. Since I’m not a college student at a fraternity party, I turned it down. That’s a brilliant way to save money, I guess. Offer a “free” welcome drink that literally almost no one will drink. I’ve slept on more comfortable beds in hostels. The sheets were such poor quality they were see-through (see pictures). The pillows were horrifying. I ended up checking out early (the next evening), because I managed to get on an earlier flight. They tried to make me “wait” while they “checked the room” for damage. I’ve never heard of such a thing. After all the other dishonest and hostile behavior, I had no doubt they intended to try to detain me and extract some sort of bribe as payment for non-existent “damage” to their disgusting room. So I told them no and left. See pics below.

Old and not very well kept down town hotel right in the Malecon. Room was old and dated. Carpet needed a good clean. Shower and baths tiles need cleaning a lot of Mold. I didn’t really want the shower curtain to touch me. Soap but not much else there was 2 bottle of water to drink. Breakfasts buffet included not much to write home about here either. Staff very friendly and helpful. No complaints in the service, just much better options for the price point. Basic stay in a old hotel in need of restoration hotel.
