Detailed Reviews
We just got back from almost two weeks at the Hampton Inn Guayaquil. It was home away from home. The staff and service were outstanding. Each member of their staff went above and beyond to provide wonderful service. Hampton Inn provides daily breakfast. You've never seen a smorgasbord like this until you've visited this hotel. They had everything from Ecuadorian style cuisines to American. I will definitely miss the breakfast.
This hotel is right in the middle of all the local shops, restaurants and the beautiful malecon (3 short blocks away). I couldn't have asked for a better location.
If I ever go back to Guayaquil, I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Fairly anonymous international hotel. Very central - 2 mins walk from the Malecon 2000, which is a walk along the riverside, and one of the better bits of the city. Only a couple of minutes from a park where you can stroke land iguanas too - fun. Rooms good size, bathroom fairly standard. Bar staff were an entertainment in themselves - it took 15mins to get a glass of wine and a beer and we were the only people in the bar.....Good selection at breakfast, staff all very courteous. Perfectly satisfactory, all usual facilities, nothing special either way.

Stayed for one night November 9, 2004. Loved the hotel. It is centrally located. Staff was great. The only suggestion would be to add express check out.

Stayed one night after a week long adventure to the Galapagos. What a treat! The hotel is centrally located downtown in the lovely city of Guayaquil. Only about 10 minutes from the airport. the hotel shuttle was waiting for us at the airport and transported us and our gear without any problems. The room was very spacious, 2 double beds, large bathroom and extremely clean. The bed, pillows and comforter were scrumptious! The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in directing us to the beautiful river walkway and park. If you are planning a trip to the Galapagos I would recommend staying in Guayaquil rather than Quito. Guayaquil is clean, safe, beautiful city. Make sure you walk around the downtown area. It is really beautiful. In addition to the free airport shuttle, you get a free breakfast which was excellent.

An American in Guayaquil had a great time, from visiting Las Peñas to the Historic Parks and Buildings to its Beaches in Salinas, It was phenomenal with the most exquisite seafood i've ever experienced...I was there from dec 10th to jan 28th, that's 50 days having fun.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn three different times over a period of a month, five days, total, as we traveled between Peru and the Galapagos. Our first, late-night arrival was met with friendly smiles and helpfulness. For our second arrival, we had prearranged a transport with the concierge and were met at the airport gate, given bottles of cold water in the van, and given warm washclothes to freshen up, and strawberry juice at check-in. It was like we were old friends. Our third/ final check-in wasn't quite as "royal", and there was confusion about my reservation, but as I had the reservation print-out, it was honored.
The room and bed were very comfortable and clean. I felt very safe, as you need to use your key card to get the elevator to operate, and there were lots of staff in the lobby, and added security in the evenings because there's a casino adjacent to the hotel.
I can't rave enough about the beakfast! There was a huge amount of the usual continental breakfast items--breads, pastries, delicious fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, great coffee, juices, as well as eggs or meat of some type. You could also order omelets. But the best part was the Ecuadorian foods--ceviche, always some sort of potato, often a fish dish, plantains, tamales... It was awesome!! We ate dinner twice in the restaurant, and found the food very good and prices reasonable.
I would go back to this hotel and their freindly staff in a heartbeat.

I was a bit apprehensive to stay at a Hampton Inn hotel, but since the hotel was the best option closest to the malecon and sites in quayaquil, i thought i would take a chance. the great stay started when i happened to see the hotel mini van at the airport. i mentioned to the driver i was staying at the hotel and he told me i could go with those he was there to pick up. once in the van, he handed us all a bottel of water. most definetlyey needed. the hotel is not 5 star. but the attempt of service is 5 star. check in was a bit of an issue, but was easily taken care of by another employee (erica) and all bad thoughts were forgotten. for the rate, the location, and the service, the little things that can be improved, don't seem to matter. the break fast that was included, was nothing to write home about, but was not so bad either. they do their best. and that is what matters the most. from someone who is particular and knows hotels, i highly recommend this one.

I highly recommend the Hampton Inn Downtown Guayaquil in Ecuador... the hospitality and service was excellent and the staff was so friendly! Additionally, the staff was very knowledgeable about the local area, sites and always had top notch recommendations. The complimentary breakfast was great and included hot foods (eggs and bacon) and not just muffins and rolls. And value wise, this hotel cannot be beat... it was not expensive and very affordable. I will definitely stay there again and will recommend this hotel to family & friends.

We spent one night here, arriving from Cusco early afternoon & leaving mid-morning for the Galapagos Islands. The Hampton Inn is well situated to enjoy the revitalized riverfront, the 3 km Malecon.
Per request, we were met at the airport & driven downtown. While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we used the free internet in the business center. The staff was very helpful & pleasant. Our room was spacious with a TV & minibar. The view was tired, old Guayaquil, but the room was quiet.
In 5-10 minutes we were at the riverfront where there are towers to climb for views, a modern water tower, monuments, a few vendors, etc. People were obviously enjoying the park that includes a lovely extensive botanical garden as well as quite a large play area for children.
Security is obviously an issue in downtown. The hotel has a security guard 24/7 in the lobby who makes his presence known. We felt safe, including during our free shuttle to the airport. No one bothered us on the street or in the park (lots of security folks all over downtown).
We ate dinner & breakfast at the hotel. Both were tasty & nicely presented. The buffet breakfast has a nice assortment of items.
We probably won't ever go back to Guayaquil, but we enjoyed walking the riverfront.
