Would like to recognize Jose Icaza who helped us resolve the storage of some frozen items that we didn’t have large enough freezer in the room.
This is a 4-5 star hotel that for US traveler is priced at the 2-3 star level in the US.
Strongly recommend.
Also the beds were very soft. The room was clean. We were able to get an extra toothbrush from the front and got any help we needed very promptly.
The Staff and Customer service were 10 out of 10 stars. Staff quickly learned my name and always asked what if any assistance was needed.
The Room was very comfortable and included air conditioning, which isn't true for many hotels in Ecuador. Be sure to ask about in-room temperature control if you consider staying somewhere else.
The Restaurant staff was attentive and meals were very good including the breakfast buffet and the event meals.
The Hotel internet was consistently available and allowed for wi-fi calling. The In-room cable provided a number of local, movie, sports, and news channels in Spanish, and at least one in Italian.
The hotel also has a pool and well equipped gym.
Excellent Service and Comfort are combined with a great location. The pedestrian bridge over the road allows safe access to the Mall de Sol. The mall has a varied food court, coffee shops, baked goods, as well as actual sit-down table service restaurants, and a third floor dining area with a more serene feeling than the food court. The Third floor dining also includes a Bowling/pool/sports bar venue.
Your room will be clean, comfortable, and secure. Now relax, the staff at the Hotel Sheraton Guayaquil are there to make your stay a memorable one.
The only bad thing is that they didn't want to reveal where I get the hotel pillows, they are so delicious hahahahaha

The room was nice and the linen clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is a nice pool and gym, with hot tubs, sauna and steam room for the more adventurous. It can be very hot in Guayaquil so using all these facilities may be limited. The woman on the pool reception was super friendly and cheerful. Note, no pool or hot tubs on Mondays, maintenance day.
We had access to the executive lounge on the 8th floor for breakfast and evening snacks/drinks. The staff working in this lounge were very friendly and helpful. Limited English but we got by with our pigeon Spanish. The hours of the lounge varied, however, and didn’t seem to follow the published times.
The location of the hotel allows for quite a few fast food restaurants but not really any higher end eateries close by. We ended up using the hotel restaurant Cooks and this was below par throughout. Again there was a language problem so we didn’t really know what to expect. Food turned up at different times and side dishes failed to appear, at all. It was a bit of a circus. One night we ordered pizza and this was a fail on all levels and was undercooked (see separate review).
There was a three day seminar on in the hotel during our stay and the bar area was commandeered throughout, which was slightly annoying.
The eating facilities were disappointing for a hotel of this standing. I would expect a bit more from the Sheraton.
As a BonVoy Gold Elite member we negotiated a late check-out on our last day. However, only minutes after normal check-out time we had two members of staff at the door plus a call from reception (at the same time) asking us when we would be vacating. At this point I had to negotiate another late check-out wondering why the first one was not recorded on file. This is most annoying. Again now what you would expect from the Sheraton.
Reasonable stay with nice room and bed, but don’t expect plain sailing.
