As part of our tour with Ecuador Freedom Bikers we ended our 6th day at the quaint boutique hotel that is the Mansion del Rio. It is a bit awkward to find and parking is a bit away, plus there's a lot of stairs that said the staff we're only too pleased and even insistent on taking our gear upstairs.... More

This really is a find in Guayaquil. Situated in the oldest street in the city which has been extensively resored and is close to the waterfront. Built in the 1920's by an Englishman, Sir Fredrick Ashton, with original features and furniture from that period. Like a living museum (worthy of being a National Trust property in the UK!) although has... More

This hotel in the old town was the home of the Sir Frederick Ashton's family when he was a lad which may add interest to ballet lovers. It is an old town house built on about 4 levels with quite a climb to each. The decor is antique with original furnishings and a plan of the original house framed on... More

This lovely old house is a treat to see, filled with atmosphere and antiques. The location was perfect for our 2 night stay as it is at the foot of Las Penas and at the south end of the Malecon, for 1 day there was lots to do in those areas. Maria is a gracious host and endlessly helpful with... More

To book this hotel, we were unable to reach them by phone, but succeeded via email. We booked it 1 night before and they were able to get us a room for $125. With taxes, the total came to $152.50. I have to say that for our short layover in Guayaquil, I'm happy we paid a bit extra to stay... More

We chose this hotel after a lot of research, and we weren't disappointed. The rooftop deck was our favorite place to sit. Location was excellent - beautiful old neighbourhood, close to the Malecon and airport, and all very safe. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. This hotel has tons of... More

The service and the accommodations were great. I absolutely would return! Located in the "historic district," you must walk the cobblestone road it is located on. Then, sit and watch the river flow by, in the park just below the hotel.

What a special treat. First, close to the airport, but you wouldn't know it. Second, the staff was just amazing. The hotel is truly one of a kind. We learned so much from the staff about the area I was taken aback. We had very little time in Guayaquil, and this hotel made us want more. There were a few... More

and impecably managed by a welcoming and informative owner. The best hotel we stayed at during a 4 week trip to Peru and Ecuador - both because of the friendly, efficient and helpful owner and because of the location which is in the old historic part of Guayaquil and also at one end of a malecon which is full of... Our last night in a hectic, 5-week trek through South America. We arrived exhausted, dusty, hungry and slightly jaded by the quality of previous hotels. It would take a lot to impress us! Color us impressed, and then some. This place is stunning. Terrific, safe location. Lovely view. Impeccable service. And a gracious, worldly host. Can't imagine considering any other... More
