The Caiman Lodge was awesome. We absolutely loved to stay there. On the one hand the staff was really friendly (We‘re actually fans of Lucho amd Franklin). On the other hand we were able to see a lot of animals like caimans, monkeys, river dolphins, snakes …! We can totally recommend to go there!
We had a 4d/3n stay at the caiman Lodge, which had been recommended by a friend. It definitely was an amazing experience. All services were as promised, and the proposed activities were really nice, not too touristic or set up as one might expect. Our guide Jonathan was very nice, and thanks to his knowledge of the area and its climate, we saw and learned a lot of things on the wildlife of the area. Many thanks!
We opted for the 4D/3N tour which I think is the best option if you want to have the full experience without feeling rushed. Everyday is full of adventure with day and night activities and the price for the tour was average, being this one around $10 less than others you could find. I ended up selecting this one for its very good website and how the cabins looked like in the pictures. The tower for bird watching was very impressive. Since booking for the tour I received very good attention from Andrea who helped me answer all my questions before the trip. They do offer private transportation from Quito to Lago Agrio through a third party which costs $20 each trip/person. Regarding food, all meals are included except for the first day breakfast, which is still offered but for an additional cost. The meals at the lodge were abundant, always came with a big portion of protein, and the presentation/plating was very fancy and pleasing. For breakfast a main dish was offered together with your typical breakfast side options like jam, butter, bread etc. Very good coffee was offered 24/7. The staff was very nice, and some were locals, which supports the neighboring communities. Jairo, the tour guide, was amazing. He talks English fluently and knows also a little bit of other languages like Dutch. He has worked in the field for many years and he was knowledgeable in the fauna and flora of the area. He is a great guide also for birdwatchers. He would bring a personalized experience depending on the group and their interests. Salomon, the canoe driver was also excellent at spotting wildlife while on the river. The rooms were comfortable, of good size and the showers have hot water. I think July is a good month two go to Cuyabeno, since in the dry season all the water dries out from the lagoon and rivers.…
We had a great time at Caiman! Wonderful wildlife (7 species of monkeys, river dolphins, snakes, sloths, birds, etc) and extraordinary guides who can spot animals you never ever would have seen on your own. Yummy food with veggie options, too. The indigenous community visit was also very nice and genuine and didn't feel tacky or appropriative like I feared/expected. However, when we were choosing which Cuyabeno lodge to visit, we read through a lot of reviews and agonized over which to choose. After going there and seeing them all, we realized that they are all the same. Same guides, same activities, very similar architecture, etc. So I came on here to tell you to stop agonizing over which to choose and just pick one. You will have the same wonderful experience at any of them!
We really likes this adventure. Our guide was fantastic. We saw a lot of animals, monkeys, cayman, snakes, spiders, sloths, dolphins and many more! The lodge is super beautiful. We had the best bed there of our whole trip! (6 month in Central and South America.)
The lodge and especially our guide Jairo were fantastic. We researched every last lodge in the cuyabeno before finally deciding on Caiman, and we have zero regrets. Jairo definitely made the experience. He was patient and seemed genuinely interested in making sure everyone had a fantastic experience. From taking the time to explain facts about all the plants and animals to literally getting professional quality pictures for you because he had a good angle. We will never forget his kindness and appreciate the knowledge he shared. Jacquie and Travis, USA
I stayed two nights in Cuyabeno Caiman Lodge. Camillo (the guide) and Franklin (boat captain) are a cool team, gave me a safe feeling in the jungle, and made these three days for me unforgettable. Camillo's English is good and he has an outstanding knowledge about the jungle. He knows every plant, animal, sound, and so much more about this region. Further, during our tours he spotted animals I would have never found. In summary, I would say that you can fully trust him and his expertise during your stay. The lodge itself offers rooms with double mosquito nets to assure peaceful nights. Three times a day you get an extensive meal. Note. Guys, for perfection, you can try to keep the list of offers at the bar available. Almost everything was out of stock during my visit. But why should I even expect such in the middle of the jungle? Muchas gracias amigos. Seguro regreso pronto! …
Best few days of our holiday! Amazing wildlife with the best tourguides, we saw every animal possible with these amazingly trained and hardworking guides. Lodge was clean and everything was very well organised. I haven’t even started on the food and service at Caiman lodge, absolutely delicious. Victor amazing guy , really hardworking. And the chefs did their best to create a wonderful meal every morning, lunch and dinner. Totally recommend going here!
We absolutely loved our visit to the jungle with Caiman Lodge. Our guides were Neiser and Francisco, both extremely intelligent and committed to making the best experience for the group. They were both so accommodating and made sure members of the group saw as many animals as possible. We went out in the early morning, midday, afternoon before sunset, after sunset, and at night to see all different species of animals. I loved that we sometimes took paddle boats, motor boats, or walked. The food was also incredible and we were very well fed. Three big meals a day, with desserts, juice, and coffee/tea/cocoa constantly available. Victor was great with all of the dietary requests too - my vegetarian food was so tasty. The rooms were very comfortable and the showers were hot. They even cleaned the rooms each day which I wasn’t expecting. The property is centrally located and has areas to hang out in. I highly recommend exploring the Amazon with Caiman Lodge!…
Being able to spot anacondas from a speeding canoe, point out the one tree in a forest of trees that is frequent by the resident sloths, and stalk the part of the lake where one can most likely see the ever elusive river dolphins are local knowledge that you should look for when choosing a guide for your Cuyabeno Rainforests tour. Thanks for guide Washington and his staff, my recent four-day tour at the Caiman Lodge was a memorable experience. Besides knowing the area well, they also were very courteous, welcoming, and accommodating. I felt well-tended at the lodge, very safe in the reserve, and completely relaxed in the amazing Amazon rainforests. Experiencing a tour of the rainforests is a must and guide Washington at the Caiman Lodge is highly recommended.
