We were excited to visit the Jungle. This was not a great experience. 1. Boat had engine issues on ride to the jungle.....4 days later on leaving the jungle, they put our luggage on the boat with engine troubles and thus we were delayed at the arrival dock 3 hours..waiting for another boat to retrieve our luggage from the broken boat.....was totally predictable 4 days earlier. 2. Our English speaking guide got "sick" almost as soon as we arrived....thus, we had a "barely english" speaking guide...was not actually a guide, but was a boat driver that they tossed into the guide position....POOR EXPERIENCE. 3. One day the boat driver (guide) decided to take us searching for an Anagonda.....We spent 6 hours buried in mud up to our hips, ran out of water, ate lunch at 3 PM.....it was a total disaster...again YIKES... 4. Walk in jungle was poor with the "boat driver". 5. Requested vegetarian food....we were provided a lot of FRIED food with animal fats...defeats the purpose....ugh WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE NICKY LODGE...although we love the jungle. Thank you so much for an unforgettable time at Nicky Lodge! I have to admit that I didn't expect such a high level of service. I felt like being in a 5* Resort 😊. The food was outstanding, the rooms clean and spacious and the guide (Violeta) very caring and knowledgeable.
My wife and I did the 4 day tour to Cuyabeno. Our guides were Jefferson and Wilson. I can’t recommend this tour more. The guides were excellent and it was clear this was a passion, not a job. The lodging/facilities were comfortable and clean and we saw so, so much amazing wildlife and plant life. Too many highlights to speak of individually. My wife and I aren’t the most hardcore campers/outdoorsy types and it was amazing and we felt so comfortable. This tour was the highlight of our 2 months in South America.
The experience starts as soon as you get in the boot for the ride to the camp. Great food, good accommodation with privat bathroom, great english speaking guides who take you on lots of excursions from early morning to evening. Just perfect!
My friends and I could not have had a better experience than that we experienced at the Nicky Lodge. Diego and Bangla were fantastic hosts and Benito was an excellent boatsmen. How they spot some of the wildlife in the trees is beyond me. On our 4 day trip, we saw tons of different birds, Giant River Otters, Pink River dolphin, 6 species of monkey, tons of strange insects, and off course 6 different species of monkeys and many more species I probably forgot. The food was healthy and the schedules were flexible to accommodate for potential rain to make the most of our time there. Make sure you bring cash though if you want to drink from the bar and also for tips. I do plan to bring my father to the Amazon and will be staying in Nicky Lodge Again.
