We had an amazing time here - our highlight of Ecuador. The lodge itself was basic but has everything you might need - great food (and catered for vegetarian diet), lovely chill area with hammocks, comfortable beds with secure mosquito nets. The highlight of our trip was the guide Fabricio - he was so knowledgeable and passionate about the Amazon... More

I was part of a group of 4 friends on an Amazon tour at Samona lodge. We were there for 5 days and 4 nights. We were put together with our guide Romulo and 5 others who we did not know, and who were staying for one day less than us. Our tour was done with the same guide and... More

We stayed at Samona lodge for 4 days, 3 nights. It's a lodge that offers everything you need at a basic level, including clean rooms with good mosquito nets, good food, a nice chilling area and all the needed equipment for the tours. The water in the showers is cold, there was free coffee and tea. Overall it's a really... More

There are no words to describe the feeling you get of being part of the nature! I have been to Samona 2 times and in both I have seen different animals and travelled along different rivers and lagoons. The food at the lodge is expectational good, the accommodation is great as well: clean rooms with private facilities for the price... More

The food was great. Accommodations basic, but that is to be expected if you are looking for a true amazon experience. My only complaint with the place is that there isn't enough to do each day. After speaking with other travelers on our trip, they did more and thus saw more wildlife then us staying at other lodges.

Food was great, guides were great. Rooms were very basic, cold water, no electricity, poorly maintained, and as far as we could tell, there was no difference between regular and superior rooms (which we paid for). Rooms are open air style so expect lots of critters for company. Beds have mosquito nets. I would gladly accept these things in the... More

My friends and I did a 4D/3N jungle package with Samona -- and are so glad we chose this budget place! The lodge was clean and comfortable with a fabulous communal area in the middle, complete with hammocks and a (basic) book exchange. Our rooms were cleaned each day, the beds made and the garbage taken out. Mosquito nets on... More

Samona was fantastic. Did the 3night and 4day tour, saw incredible animals like river dolphins, caimans, monkeys, birds, and more. It isn't a luxurious lodge, but that shouldn't be why you go to the Amazon. Everyone was very nice and helpful, and the rooms were pleasant. Jose Luis was a wonderful and fun guide, and Jorge back at Tierra de... More
