CARPEdM helped me a lot with the reservation and were superb to deal with. I highly recommend this tour operator. Siona lodge, and the location, are beautiful. The wildlife was incredible; we saw monkeys, sloths, alligators and all sorts of other exotic birds and creatures. The food was pretty good, too, from a vegetarian point of view. The first guide was fantastic, but unfortunately I had a very big problem with the main guide at the lodge, who took an instant dislike to me (an older “gringo” - but British and respectful and polite!) and made many small disrespectful comments to me. But he definitely seemed to like my girlfriend a great deal (a much younger woman from Ecuador), which eventually culminated in him asking for her phone number, in Spanish, after dinner on the second night, after a long conversation with her while I went to my room to collect the water bottles. 😱. This resulted in much conversation with my girlfriend that night, to see exactly what had happened, and an awkward and open discussion in front of all the guests over breakfast the next day, where I explained to the guide why that was completely unacceptable, and my girlfriend would not be giving him her number. And so my girlfriend and I didn’t go on any more of the tours on day 3 or 4. Afterwards, when I mentioned this to CARPEdM I was asked to supply a full, detailed report, which I did, and I spent a long time on that, detailing every little disrespect that I had encountered, up to the final “big one”, when we effectively had to isolate ourselves in the lodge for the next 2 days. But the response I got from Siona lodge a few days later was very weak; just a long single paragraph saying “🤷🏻‍♂️ it was probably just cultural differences, and we’re sorry, we’ll give him some guidance.” There is no “cultural difference” that can excuse a guide from asking one of the guest’s girlfriends for her phone number, and especially when I’m not even there to be included in the conversation. So I only recommend this lodge if you keep your girlfriend very close to you at all times. Frankly it caused me, and my relationship, a lot of problems, and completely ruined days 3 and 4 of the trip, and I’m very unhappy with their weak response. Maybe choose another lodge if you’re not single, or if your girlfriend is from Ecuador and therefore “fair game” to the guide.

I have spent with my family one lifetime experience for 4 days at siona lodge in April.2023. Since i have 2 kids, in order to avoid bothering other tourists and to have a more personalized schedule we have decided for a private guide. And it my view is really worth it ! Solvei, our kind of guardian angel was always supportive and of great help. She had provided us with excellent private drivers that drove us safely from quito to lago agrio and the way back. In my opinion this drive deserves to be done during the day cause the surroundings are in itself so beautiful that looks like a tour (you go through several districts and through mountains, can see waterfalls, geotermal springs, and amazonia coming..) Siona lodge was confortable enough but at same time enabled to experience the feeling of sleeping and camping in the jungle ! The experience in the jungle depends much of the quality of the guide. Without one, you would only see some animal, and the jungle is full of them...In that aspect we could not have a better guide. Diego is deep knowledgable in several fields (general culture, biology, even astronomy), with great sense of humor with a never ending curiosity which inspired all of us. He was able to quickly spot animals and even to communicate with some ... We really appreciate the time he spent with us. Whitman the driver of the canoe, a very nice and experienced man in the jungle since he has always lived there. So sometimes he could help spotting animals as it occurred with an anaconda. The cooker, Miguel, from los Banos, an always smiling and good-hearted man who was able to cook very tasty and healthy dishes, that kept me saying... how was it possible to do so in the heart of the jungle ? I would vote six stars for siona lodge if it was possible !

I didn't expect much from our trip to the Cuyabeno Reserve since I don't like the hot and humid weather of the jungle. But boy, I was so wrong. I love this place. The wild life was so abundant. Was so thankful that I was able to see the pink dolphins a few times during our stay. Thanks to our guide Jacob, and the other guide who welcoming us while we just arrived, Jonathan. They both really passionate doing their job. The Siona lodge was also perfect for us. We love the fact that it caters less tourists compare to the other lodge. the lodge itself is basic but clean, has hot shower, comfortable bed and nice sitting area with hammocks. Staying in Siona also includes lots of walking and on boat tours. I did enjoy Blanca and her cousin's cooking, I had the best slept during our stay here. The sound of the jungle was so soothing, it sounded like a lullaby while I slept.

Everything ´s perfect. Comfortable accomodation in the heart of Cuyabeno, excellent food, friendly and kindest staff. Passionate guide Diego with all his great knowledge of life in the jungle, together with our Czech guide Honza Bartoš, perfect match. Night and day walks, day canoe rides, swimming in lagune during the sunset. Unforgetable part of my holiday in Ecuador.

Siona Lodge is truly special. My son and I spent 3 nights here. Nature in its full glory. The lodge was perfect. The staff are very friendly and cooked amazing fresh meals. Our guide Neiser was next level amazing. He was passionate about Cuyabeno and went out of his way to find as many birds, insects, mammals, plants as he could to show us. Night and day walks. Night and day canoe rides and swims. The pink dolphins were a highlight for everyone. Siona Lodge is situated on the lagoon rather than the river so the sunrises and sun sets are amazing. Plus all the semi submerged tree gardens. This is an unforgettable amazing destination. The itinerary is well organized. The rooms are clean and all beds have mosquito nets. We stayed at Casa Amalia in Quito which is also run by Solvei who runs Siona Lodge. She has made our Ecuador holiday easy by being able to have a base in Quito. She was helpful with all my questions before I booked and has helped us with transport for other activities we’ve done during our stay in Ecuador.

We spent a week at Siona as a family of 4 with two daughters ages 10 and 7. From all the other reviews you already get a sense of what makes Siona so amazing. Here's our two cents. The lodges are great - well kept, clean, comfortable, and not to mention you may get capuchin monkey visiting you while you're relaxing in the hammocks! The food was excellent; it felt like we were eating at a 5-star hotel on the mainland. Every meal was freshly prepared, tasty, and fulfilling. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, always smiling and with a positive air about them. The nature guides like Naiser and Luis were first-rate. They were so knowledgeable and you could sense their passion about the Amazon that was simply contagious. The location is perfect. Unlike other lodges in the area, Siona is right on the Laguna Grande (lake), which means you get to see amazing sunsets and all the wildlife. You're not constrained to just a riverbank like the other lodges. Finally, Solvei at Siona was - simply unmatched. We were at Siona when the CONAIE paro (protests) were happening, and unlike all our other fellow travelers, we had booked our trip on our own without any travel advisors/agency helping us. At the end of our stay everyone from the lodge were actually were stuck because all the roads into and out of the Amazon were blocked by protestors. Solvei was our guardian angel. She kept us up to date, made it a point to look out for our family, and honestly, went above and beyond finding ways for us to safely depart the lodge. In the end she arranged a flight for the four of us to Quito that was more affordable, faster, and safer than what our lodge friends were able to secure through their own travel agencies. In the end our lodge friends actually opted for the plan Solvei arranged for us and she was gracious enough to arrange a departure for our group of 12 people to hop on a charter plane typically only reserved for oil rig workers. We cannot say enough great things about Siona (and Solvei). We highly recommend Siona if you want an awesome Amazon experience!

I would give Siona Lodge a sixth star if I could. The experience was amazing, and Solvei and staff took remarkable care of us during a difficult time in the country. The adventure start the moment boats picked up to take guests down the winding river into the heart of the jungle. The lodge accommodations are simple but clean and comfortable. It is situated on a lagoon which, due to naturally low pH, all but eliminates mosquitos at the lodge. We could sit out in the open each evening without cover. Food is good. Guided activities each day showed different aspects of the area. The guides - Luis, Neiser, Estalin and colleagues - were able to reveal an incredible amount of jungle life from boats and hikes. A beautiful few days. Getting back out to the regional airport in Coca proved unusually challenging due to the national strikes. Siona staff stayed with us throughout, helping to make a variety of arrangements until we were all able to get back to Quito. They have our thanks for their commitment, and strong recommendation as a place to experience the global ecological treasure of the Amazon basin.

Thank you to the staff of Siona Lodge for the organization and the food. Thank you to Luis and Neiser for sharing their knowledge on wildlife of Amazonia. Thank above all for Solvei for the global management of the trip from (Coca / Lago) to the Lodge back-and-forth. The situation of the lodge in the laguna is a great asset and it's very peaceful. Don't miss swimming in the laguna at sunset ! We have seen a lot of wild animals :)

The accommodations at the lodge are simple, no frills wooden huts and there is no internet and only electricity between 6pm and 10pm. However the two guides, Luis and Jacob, have a vast knowledge of the wildlife of the jungle and enthusiastically show it to their guests. Anacondas, giant river otters, Pink dolphins and countless bird and insect species were seen on our five days at the lodge. It was perfect!
