I had a room overlooking a lot of greenery and directly onto Lake Kivu. It was a large suite and was just gorgeous. The patio was particularly pretty. The rooms inside or outside dining, food options and staff were all excellent.

Friendly staff but way over priced for the quality of food and the quality if the rooms. A 2 star experience for the price of a 4star hotel. The food was not great and around the corner of the hotel you can eat grear local food for a third of the price.

Stayed one night at USD $80. Very run down. No aircon. Rock hard bed. Water was hot. Towels old. Balcony and Great Lake view. Wifi better than what I had been expecting but unreliable. Staff were friendly enough. Restaurant food passable but expensive. Had to pay cash for room as credit card machine wouldn't work. Taxi from border was $25 but I'm sure I paid overs. Would need transport to get to supermarket or town centre etc. they were happy for me to leave by bag for a day after check out.

Cap Kivu is a decent choice but seems to be past its peak. The wifi is not very reliable. The service at the restaurant is painfully slow when it comes to lunch/dinner orders (expect to wait 45 minutes minimum). The food is also nothing to write home about, despite generous dollar-prices. The $80/$100 rooms with lake view are great. Still, they have neither mosquito net nor AC. Also, in one room I stayed in, the toilet flush had issues. Then in a $100 room, the bathroom was smelly.

In Goma, this place is in competition, but second to the Ihusi Hotel. They however charge the same price. The staff was friendly but it was obvious that the owner is absent and neglecting his investment. As all hotels, this place needs constant maintenance and updating, but we were disappointed that many of the little things that can make a big difference were missing or were not taken care of: we had to point out that the water pressure was too low so that we couldn't take a shower on our floor; the bath math was missing and there were no shower curtains which resulted in a very wet bathroom floor; half of the electric outlets weren't working... Most of these issues - not the shower curtain - were solved by switching rooms and the staff, but this was time consuming. I fear that this hotel will struggle to keep it's second place on trip advisor, but then there is the spectacular view.
